England has the busiest competition calendar in the UK, with London hosting by far the most BJJ tournaments. Manchester and Southampton come next, followed by Leeds, High Wycombe, Brighton, Essex, Coventry, Birmingham and Bournemouth.
All Stars BJJ is the most active organiser, running regional events such as All Stars BJJ London, South, North and Sheffield. Grappling Industries London returns several times a year, and other recurring competitions include the Essex Jiu Jitsu Open, the UKGCC BJJ Open, the Leicester Grappling Series Autumn Open and events from Pro Sport Grappling and BJJ247.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are offered in roughly equal measure, and around a third of events include an absolute division. About one in five events runs kids divisions. IBJJF rules are the most common ruleset, with round-robin brackets also widely used. Adult entry usually costs around £10–£49. Autumn is peak season, with November the busiest month, followed by October, September and January.
