Wolverhampton hosts a regular calendar of BJJ tournaments, with a strong focus on national and junior championships. Almost every event is held in the city itself.
Elite BJJ Events is the most active organiser, running the BJJ Junior European, Junior National and Junior World Gi and No-Gi Championships, the National Masters Championships, the Adult National Championships and the International Open. Grappling Industries Midlands, the Compnet UK Championship and the Empire Grappling Midlands Open are also held here.
Gi divisions are slightly more common than No-Gi, and both are widely offered. Kids divisions feature at a large share of events, reflecting the junior championships. Adult entry is typically around £12–£70. September is the busiest month, followed closely by October.
