Texas has more BJJ tournaments than almost any other state, spread across several large cities. Houston hosts the most events, followed by Edinburg, Austin, Dallas and San Antonio, with Duncanville, El Paso, Corpus Christi, Arlington and Lubbock also active.
The APEX Grappling Series runs frequently, and Grappling Industries holds regular round-robin events in San Antonio and Austin. The American Grappling Federation is the most active organizer, including the AGF Texas State Championships, and other recurring events include the NAGA World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the CompNet USA National Championship, and events from United Grappling, NEWBREED and FUJI BJJ.
Gi divisions are slightly more common than No-Gi, and around three in ten events run kids divisions. Adult entry is typically around $30–$100. October and August are the busiest months, with November and September also busy.
