Midland has a small but regular BJJ competition calendar in West Texas. The American Grappling Federation is a frequent visitor with the AGF Midland Open and AGF Midland Championships, and NEWBREED Ultimate Challenge runs the NEWBREED Midland Jiu Jitsu Championship and the NEWBREED Midland New Year Open. United Grappling has also held a Midland-Odessa event.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are each offered at most events, and close to half include kids divisions. Around one in four events has an absolute division. August is the busiest month, followed by March and September, with occasional events in November and January.
