Birmingham is one of the busiest BJJ competition cities in the Midlands, with a steady run of events through the second half of the year. Nearly all events take place in the city itself, with the occasional event in nearby Redditch.
Grappling Industries Birmingham is the most frequent event, and Polaris / Pro Sport Grappling also brings its Birmingham show to the city. Other recurring competitions include the DNA Championship Midlands Series, All Stars BJJ Birmingham and All Stars BJJ Juniors, the GrappleCity Birmingham Winter Open, the BJJ Birmingham Winter Open, the Mighty Grappling Birmingham International Open and the Endured Championship Birmingham Open.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are offered in equal measure, around a third of events include an absolute division and roughly a quarter run kids divisions. Round-robin brackets are common, reflecting the Grappling Industries format. September is the busiest month, followed by November, October and August.
