MMAX Ground Up is a Martial Arts competition of events throughout each year offering a platform for beginner and intermediate levels to test their skills against other competitors of the same ability. Our events feature multiple bouts for our competitors within the early stages of competition to give every student the best learning fight experience. 

Each competitor will compete throughout the year in the round robin events to earn points and qualify for the championship tournament at the end of the year. 

Getting Started And How do I Sign Up? 

It’s simple, all you need to do is set up your account and fighter profile on smoothcomp.com and register your details to express your interest in competing at Ground MMAX Ground Up - 22  on Sunday December 6 2026. Registration will require you to be completely honest regarding any previous experience you may have in any Martial Art or Fighting Style in order for us to match all competitors safely and correctly. 

All competitors will be informed upon registration of what equipment / training gear will be needed for the competition for protection and safety purposes.

You can enter 1 category or multiple categories. If you wish to enter multiple categories please register and pay for your main category that you are competing in only and then register in and notify us about any other category **(but do not pay for these as 1 Registration qualifies you for unlimited matches)** you wish to compete in so that we are able to allocate you to the specified categories.

MMAX Ground Up is Open to All Fighting Styles / Disciplines. 

Grappling Arts such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Ju Jitsu, Wrestling & Sambo are all welcomed. 

Striking Arts such as Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Boxing, Karate, Tae Kwon Do & Kung Fu are all welcomed. If there are any style of Martial Art not mentioned please feel free to contact us when registering and we can advise further.

Each division will have a striking only & grappling only division while also offering an MMA division with a mix of styles. 

Medals will be awarded to the division winners within each category.

Our Competitions are open to adults & children from as young as 5 years old. Teens can enter the MMA or Strike & Shoot Categories.

1 Round - 5 mins

Submission Only - If you haven’t scored a submission by the end of the 5 minutes, the fight will be declared a draw.

•Adult MMA 

1 Round - 5 mins 

•Adult Grappling 

1 Round - 5 mins 

Submission or Referee Stoppage - If you haven’t scored a submission or secured a Referee's decision based on Damage done to Opponent by the end of the 5 minutes, the fight will be declared a draw.

Equipment Needed: 

6oz MMA sparring gloves 

Shin guards with foot protection 

Groin guard

Mouth guard

•Adult / Teen Strike & Shoot:

1 Round - 5 mins 

Points are achieved by TKO or submitting your opponent to win. Striking to the head, body and legs are allowed. ‘Head Shots are allowed’ in the Strike & Shoot category.
