The British Traditional Wushu Championships proudly returns for its 3rd edition, bringing together practitioners of Traditional Kung Fu, Taijiquan, and Traditional Wushu from across the UK for a day of skill, discipline, sportsmanship, and cultural celebration.

The event welcomes competitors of all ages and experience levels, providing an encouraging and professionally organised platform for athletes to showcase their hard work, gain valuable experience, and celebrate the spirit of Traditional Wushu.

Event Divisions

This event comprises two divisions:

Demonstration Events

All participants aged 13 years and under will automatically compete within the Demonstration Events division.

This division is designed to encourage young athletes to gain confidence, enjoy the competition environment, and celebrate their progress and dedication in a supportive atmosphere.

Championship Events

All participants aged 14 years and above will compete within the Championship division.

Championship athletes will compete for official medal placings and category rankings.

Championship Awards

  • 1st Place: Gold Medal and Certificate
  • 2nd Place: Silver Medal and Certificate
  • 3rd Place: Bronze Medal and Certificate

Demonstration Awards

  • 1st Category Prize: 10% of the total number of participants will receive Gold Medals and Certificates
  • 2nd Category Prize: 20% of the total number of participants will receive Silver Medals and Certificates
  • 3rd Category Prize: 70% of the total number of participants will receive Bronze Medals and Certificates

Championship Rankings & Placings

Only athletes competing within the Championship Events division shall be eligible for official championship rankings, category placings, and medal classification.

Demonstration Events and Championship Events shall be conducted as separate divisions of the competition. Results achieved within Demonstration Events will not contribute towards official championship rankings or placements.

  • Group F: 60 years and above (born in or before 1966)

Competition Rules

Unless otherwise stated within these regulations, the competition will be conducted in accordance with the:

IWUF Traditional Wushu Competition Rules and Judging Methods 2019 (Trial).

Routine Time Limits

Standard Traditional Routines

  • Minimum duration: 40 seconds
  • Maximum duration: 2 minutes

(Excluding Taijiquan and Taiji weapon routines)

The Head Judge will signal with a whistle when 1 minute and 30 seconds have elapsed.

Taijiquan & Taiji Weapon Routines

  • Minimum duration: 3 minutes
  • Maximum duration: 4 minutes

The Head Judge will signal with a whistle once 3 minutes have elapsed.

For compulsory or competition Taijiquan and Taiji weapon routines, there will be no point deductions for the omission of set techniques.
