Bournemouth has a steady BJJ competition calendar on the south coast, with almost all events held in the town and a few in nearby Poole. DSD Events is the most active organiser.
The Flashback Editions series runs seasonal kids and juveniles events at Christmas, Easter, summer, autumn and winter. Adult competitors can enter the Dorset & Hants Open, the Bournemouth Open and the South Coast Regional Championship, while Submission Pit offers submission-only events.
Gi divisions are far more common than No-Gi, with around two thirds of events offering Gi and roughly a quarter offering No-Gi. IBJJF rules are the usual ruleset. Adult entry typically costs around £21–£51. November is the busiest month, followed by October, February and September.
