Edinburgh BJJ Open 2026

Scottish Grappling is proud to present the Edinburgh BJJ Open 2026, taking place on Sunday, 8th November 2026, at Oriam Sports Centre Edinburgh

This event will follow the IBJJF ruleset and utilise a round robin/pool play system wherever possible to ensure competitors receive multiple matches.

Event Highlights

✅ UKBJJA Ranked Event

✅ Gi and No-Gi divisions for Juvenile, Adult, and Masters competitors

✅ Divisions for all belt levels in both Gi and No-Gi, with No-Gi divisions organised by BJJ rank or time served

✅ Round Robin / Pool Play format wherever possible, providing multiple matches for competitors

✅ Most competitors will receive at least two matches

✅ Absolute divisions available in Gi and No-Gi for a £10 entry fee

✅ Special prizes awarded to winners of Absolute divisions with 8 or more competitors

✅ Spectator and Coach Passes available via Ticket Tailor (link to be published)

Division Details

White Belt

IBJJF White Belt rules apply. No competitors previously ranked above Grey Belt at junior level, nor Black Belts in Judo, national-level wrestlers, or MMA fighters at any level.

Blue Belt

IBJJF Blue Belt rules.

Purple Belt

IBJJF Purple Belt rules.

Brown Belt

IBJJF Brown Belt rules.

Black Belt

IBJJF Black Belt rules.

Age Categories

Juniors: Ages 4-15

🟠 Juvenile: Ages 16–17

🟠 Adult: Ages 18–29

🟠 Masters 1 & 2: Ages 30–39

🟠 Masters 3 & 4: Ages 40–49

🟠 Masters 5+: Ages 50+

Competition Information

📌 All juvenile, adult & masters matches will last 5 minutes. Junior times as per IBJJF.

📌 Weigh-ins will commence from 8:15am.

📌 Competitors entered in both Gi and No-Gi divisions will only weigh in once.

📌 All weigh-ins will be conducted without the Gi.

Team Awards

🏆 Best Club Trophy – Awarded to the individual club scoring the highest number of points.

🏆 Best Team Trophy – Awarded to the affiliation scoring the highest number of points.

Registration & Event Policies

📅 Competitors may update their weight category through Smoothcomp until the published deadline.

📌 No changes will be permitted after registration closes.

📌 Competitors who fail to make weight will be disqualified from their division without refund.
