Most Scottish BJJ competition takes place in the Central Belt, with Motherwell hosting the most events, followed by Glasgow and Edinburgh. Smaller events also run in Forfar and Stirling.
Grappling Industries Scotland is the most frequent event, using round-robin brackets that guarantee several matches per division. All Stars BJJ runs regular events in Scotland and Glasgow, and other recurring competitions include the Scottish BJJ Open, the Edinburgh BJJ Open, the Scottish Cup of BJJ, the Glasgow BJJ Open, the Caledonian BJJ Open and the ADCC Scottish Open.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are offered in equal measure, and around half of events include absolute divisions. Roughly one in three events runs kids divisions. Adult entry usually costs from around £10 for smaller events up to about £70 for larger opens. December is the busiest month, with February, April, September and November also well served.
