Motherwell is one of Scotland's main BJJ competition venues, with Grappling Industries Scotland the most frequent event. Grappling Industries UK and Scottish Grappling are the most active organisers.
Other recurring competitions include the Scottish Cup of BJJ, the Scottish BJJ Open, Empire Grappling's Scottish Open and All Stars BJJ Scotland.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are both offered at more than half of events, and over half include an absolute. Close to four in ten events run kids divisions. Round-robin brackets are common, reflecting the Grappling Industries format. December is the busiest month, followed by April, February and September.
