Core Grappling Circuit – Norwich Winter Open 2026

Saturday 28th November 2026

Core Grappling Circuit returns to Norwich for the Norwich Winter Open 2026, featuring Gi and No-Gi competition for kids, juniors, juveniles and adults.

CGC is built around providing competitors with a professional, well-organised and enjoyable competition experience. Whether this is your first tournament or you are an experienced competitor chasing gold and cash prizes, our aim is to provide fair brackets, efficient scheduling and quality matches.

🥋 RULESET

The Norwich Winter Open will follow IBJJF rules for both Gi and No-Gi divisions, including IBJJF-style scoring, positional points, advantages, penalties and legal techniques appropriate to each age and belt level.

CGC safety modification: For our youngest Pee Wee / Under-7 divisions, submissions will not be permitted. Matches will focus on positional control, technique and points, helping our youngest competitors gain competition experience in a safe environment.

All other youth and adult divisions will follow the permitted techniques appropriate to their age and belt/experience level.

Competitors and coaches are responsible for familiarising themselves with the rules before competing.

🥇 DIVISIONS

Gi and No-Gi divisions available

Kids, Juniors, Juveniles and Adults.

Divisions will be organised according to age, weight, belt and/or experience level.

Where necessary, CGC may merge divisions to provide competitive brackets and ensure competitors receive matches. Any merging will be done with competitor safety and fairness as the priority.

👶 KIDS DIVISIONS

Our kids divisions are built around:

Safety • Experience • Development • Enjoyment

Where entry numbers require it, divisions may be combined based on age, weight and experience.

For Pee Wee / Under-7 competitors, submissions are not permitted.

Our priority is for young athletes to gain valuable competition experience in a positive and safe environment.

Each child participating in the Kids’ Division is entitled to free entry for one parent or guardian. 🎟️

Any additional spectators must purchase their tickets online in advance.

⚖️ WEIGH-IN ON ARRIVAL

All competitors must weigh in upon arrival, so please make sure you’re ready when you get to the venue.

💪 Bring your best, respect your opponents, and let’s make it an amazing day of competition!

🏆 ADULT ABSOLUTE DIVISIONS

Absolute divisions are available for eligible Adult competitors in both Gi and No-Gi.

Absolute entry is for medallists only.

Eligible competitors will be added to the absolute bracket after their normal weight division has been completed.

Absolute brackets will therefore be created after the relevant standard divisions have finished.

If you have medalled but do not wish to compete in the absolute, please speak to a member of staff as soon as possible so your name can be removed from the list before the bracket is created.
