Nashville hosts the most BJJ tournaments in Tennessee, while Memphis, Knoxville and Chattanooga each hold a steady share. Gatlinburg, Kingsport, Sevierville, Smyrna and Cookeville round out the calendar.
The Chewjitsu Open in Gatlinburg is the most frequent single event. NEWBREED runs several recurring championships, including the Nashville Fall Championship, the Nashville New Year Open and fall events in Chattanooga and Memphis. Other regulars include the NAGA Nashville Grappling Championship, Tap Cancer Out Nashville, the Nashville Winter Games, the AGF Chattanooga Open and the FUJI BJJ Memphis Fall Open, with The Grappling Games, Classic Combat and The Good Fight also active.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are close to evenly split, and around a third of events run kids divisions. Adult entry typically costs around $10–$100, with a median of about $30. September and October are the busiest months, followed by August and December.
