Maryland hosts a strong mix of local and international BJJ tournaments, with Baltimore as the main hub and regular events in Hagerstown, Millersville, Perryville, Bel Air and Snow Hill.
The PBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu Championship and World Youth Championship are held in Bel Air, making Maryland one of the few US states to host world-level events. Grappling Industries Maryland, NAGA Baltimore, FUJI BJJ's Hagerstown and Panhandle championships, Controlled Combat and Good Fight's Thanksgiving Throwdown are other regular fixtures.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are offered equally, and nearly a third of events run kids divisions. Adult entries typically cost $30–$85. October and November are the busiest months of the year.
