Baltimore has a regular BJJ competition calendar, with most events in the city and others in nearby Towson, Reisterstown, Sykesville and Windsor Mill.
NAGA is the most frequent BJJ organizer, running the NAGA Baltimore Grappling Championship and NAGA Baltimore II. Tap Cancer Out holds its Baltimore BJJ Open here, and Joan of D'Arce runs women's grappling events. The PBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, GFTeam Jiu Jitsu International and the Newbreed Baltimore Summer Championship have also been held in Baltimore.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are both offered, and many events include an absolute division. Some events run kids divisions. Late in the year is the busiest period for BJJ tournaments, with December and November the most common months, followed by March and May.
