In the double elimination format, the tournament proceeds through rounds where winners advance in the main bracket. However, unlike single elimination, athletes who lose a match move to a secondary bracket. This gives them the opportunity to compete for third place.
In this system, the athlete who wins all their matches will receive the gold medal, the runner-up in the final match will earn the silver medal, and the winner of the secondary bracket will be awarded the bronze medal.
Please note, the double elimination format is guaranteed only if all athletes in the bracket attend and compete. PBJJF cannot ensure the attendance of all registered athletes.
