Friendly and Welcoming. Instructors and students are great. I have enjoyed my time coming here and have learned much. Not only is it great exercise, it is also motivation to get fitter off the mat. If large classes are intimidating to you, come join us at the 515am (wed&fri) class.

These are some of the nicest people in the world of jiu jitsu. I live in Denver, CO and needed a place to train while I was in town. They couldn't have been more welcoming! I appreciate the approachable and relaxed coaching style, focusing on the HOW and WHY and WHEN for each move, in addition to the brief anatomical and physiological explanations. This place is exactly what I need in a gym, an immediate home away from home to me. They made it so comfortable with zero intimidation factor.

They were generous enough to allow our real estate team to learn and work on some fundamentals of BJJ. Instructors were passionate and very helpful.

I recently enrolled our team of realtors and agents in the self-defense training program at 804-Jiu-Jitsu, and I couldn't be more impressed with the results. The training provided by this academy has proven to be invaluable in enhancing our awareness of potential attackers and equipping us with effective self-defense techniques. The instructors at 804-Jiu-Jitsu are truly top-notch. Their expertise and dedication to teaching were evident from day one. They delivered informative and engaging instructions, ensuring that we understood the concepts and techniques thoroughly. Their ability to break down complex moves into manageable steps made the learning process enjoyable and accessible for everyone. One of the most significant aspects of the training was learning how to use our weight and momentum against aggressors. This approach not only taught us how to defend ourselves effectively but also allowed us to disengage safely from potentially dangerous situations. It was empowering to discover how our own physical attributes could be utilized in self-defense scenarios. Beyond the physical skills, the instructors at 804-Jiu-Jitsu instilled a sense of confidence in our team. They encouraged us to push our limits, embrace challenges, and trust in our abilities. This newfound confidence has had a positive impact on both our personal and professional lives, making us feel more secure and capable in various situations. If you're looking for a self-defense training program that goes beyond the basics, I highly recommend 804-Jiu-Jitsu. Their commitment to empowering individuals with practical skills and confidence is truly commendable. Our team is grateful for the knowledge and experience gained from this training, and we now feel better prepared to protect ourselves and our clients. Thank you, 804-Jiu-Jitsu, for an outstanding training program!

I’ve always wanted to step my foot into jiu-jitsu but never really knew where to start. This place was professional, friendly, energetic, and created a welcoming environment that fueled my now favorite sport and passion. I had the pleasure of training at this gym for the past few months and I must say, it has been an unforgettable experience. The instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging, creating a welcoming environment for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. The facility itself was clean, spacious, and had the latest equipment necessary for training. The best part about this gym was the community of trainers along with the students. Everyone supports each-other whether it’s for management, tournaments, or sparring. Overall, the difference in the gym are the young instructors that are determined to grow their skills as well as grow a community for this sport. I highly recommend this jiu-jitsu gym to anyone looking to learn, families looking to bond over an activity, an everyday exercise, or to step a foot in the world of martial arts.

Visited with my friends for a free trial, with little to no experience with/knowledge of Jiu Jitsu, and I was still able to learn a lot of things. Everyone was welcoming and accommodating, and willing to help you with patience. Go check this place out, it will make you stronger.

Great Group of Athletes! Everyone at the gym is very respectful and committed to learning BJJ. The instructors are very knowledgable. I was only in town for two weeks. Professor Lopez was very supportive and allowed me to take part in the evening classes. I learned a lot in those two weeks. I will miss the crew down there and if I am ever in the area again, I will make a point to come pay my respects. -Thanks from Bill.

My 8-yo son's been attending this academy for a year now and he loves it. The coaches are experienced, patient, and have a great rapport with the kids. Everyone is extremely supportive from the coaches, to the parents, and the kids. It's a great environment for the kids and parents alike. This is the academy for you if you're considering enrolling your child in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

I have been training at 804 Jiu jitsu for almost 2 years and am currently a blue belt. During my time here I have gained self confidence, made friends, learned self defense, and found a second home. The coaches here are very patient and motivating. As a result of the coaches amazing teaching/training I have won gold at many local tournaments. The coaches are always open to answering questions and giving advice when you need it. Professor Heriberto has taught me a lot about controlling my temper through jiu jitsu and as a result i’m a lot more self disciplined. He is an amazing role model for the kids and adults. If you are looking for somewhere to train jiu jitsu, whether as a hobby, stress reliever, self defense, or for the competition aspect, 804 Jiu Jitsu is no doubt the best place around.

Fantastic visit! It can be incredibly difficult walking into a new place to do class but everyone here was so kind and welcoming. Professor Heriberto taught a fantastic class and I got a bunch of good hard rolls in. If you’re in the area you should come check them out. I know I plan on coming back again. :)

I had the privilege of training at 804 Jiu-Jitsu for 8 weeks, while I attended one of my Corporate Professional Development courses in the area, required by my employer. As someone who has training BJJ for over 7 years, I can assure that these guys are on point. The instructors are very professional, and they do know their stuff. Great Instructors and a solid curriculum. From day one they treated me as one of their own family.

My family and I moved to VA from CO (thanks military). My search has begun to find a home gym. Three things that I was searching for in an academy: 1. Strong BJJ Lineage 2. Clean and Safe Environment 3. Engaged kids class. I was taught that BJJ lineage is a comparison to college accreditation. Strong lineage indicates high quality education. Owner and head instructor, Coach Heriberto, has an impressive lineage. He has trained under some of the most notable BJJ black belts, and it shows through his knowledge and skill. He is one of the best coaches that I have learned from. He has an art for teaching. He skillfully explain techniques down to its fundamental form that all level of practitioners are able to comprehend and apply. I am a female practitioner and have been training for years. Understandably, clean and safe environment was one my priorities. My training partners has never hold back a tough roll simply because I am a female. However, they use the upmost respect and control. We train smart and safe while sharpening our skills every class. We are growing our BJJ together, and I am truly grateful for the team that I have. Coach H’s teaching standards continues in the kids class. He keeps the children engaged by explaining the technique step-by-step. He ask questions mid-way to ensure they are following along. When my children steps on the mats, they are learning jiu-jitsu through techniques, sparring, or BJJ related games. When joining 804 Jiu-Jitsu, not only are you receiving the best BJJ in the RVA area, but you’re also joining a family. Coach H goes above and beyond to meet your BJJ needs and treat you like his own family. Coach Chris (assistant coach) and teammates are very welcoming as well. I highly recommend you come in and give it a try. It has everything for everyone. Whether you are a beginner, competitor, or just want to reach new fitness goals, 804 Jiu-Jitsu is the place to be. See you on the mats!

804 Jiu-Jitsu is more than just a team it’s a family! The owner Coach Heriberto and his staff are professional and extremely knowledgeable. There were opportunities to attend seminars and competitions! The training for adults was perfect for all levels of belts, and lots of team members at different levels to roll with and learn from. I trained with 804 Jiu Jitsu for about a year and a half. The coaches as well as the members were very welcoming since day 1. The atmosphere is truly amazing. You do not have to worry about not having any BJJ experience...the coaches have years of experience and are always willing to help out before, during and after class. I would recommend for any level and all ages (they do have kids classes too). It is a great way to stay fit and learn self defense at the same time!

Great professional environment. Trained here before moving on to Korea. Due to military move. Heriberto not only was a great mentor in Virginia. He helped me continue my Jiu Jitsu journey by linking me up with Professor Kris Kim in Korea. If he hadn’t my Jiu Jitsu game would have been stagnant. Highly recommend 804 Jui Jitsu. OSS!

An amazing Jiu-Jitsu academy. I traveled to the local area on business and was able to train with these guys for almost 2 weeks. Great instructors and awesome welcoming environment. Very detailed when they teach and demonstrate the techniques, but very reader friendly as well. These guys are solid and they really take care of their students. No negative clicks whatsoever. I have trained a lot throughout the entire US when traveling and I can say that this is a great school with a very positive and professional vibe. I will definitely be back here to train on my next trip.

I love to train here in Richmond, VA for these 3 reasons: 1. Classes available every day of the week, except Sunday to rest. Shows commitment to teach. 2. Tournaments available through network of Team Passos schools, including here in Richmond and farther places including Sterling, VA and even New Jersey. 3. knowledge is thorough and teachers explain well. communication is very strong in a fine location. I have other reasons as well to enjoy this school. These three I have learned in my first week of training here.
