My 13 yr old went for the summer and it was the best choice. It’s hard raising a teen alone especially one going through some tough emotional times. The staff and owner always made it feel like I had a village on my side even when things got difficult. Martial arts gave my daughter structure and discipline that’s much needed during this phase. She definitely tested her limits but they handled every situation well.

We started out in the MAW evening martial art classes. We agreed to the summer camp not realizing what we were getting into. 4 weeks into the MAW summer camp program, there was safety issues arising that were not being addressed or resolved. After three of the really good instructors left the company, there was little to no adult supervision-meaning adults who actually have kids and know the dynamics of raising kids and structuring their minds (red flag). Due to fears of our child's safety (bruising, inappropriate touching from other kids, no adult supervision, questionable certification of child transportation credentials, inappropriate adult to child ratio, lack of structured learning, no workstations or tables, no real outdoor play area except for the back gravel parking lot etc-just ask) we left for a different and more structured summer program. No hard feelings personally, but a terrible business practice and model. MMA baits parents and kids to feel that they are actually climbing the ranks of the martial arts community- unfair and unsafe. MAW is a group of glorified babysitters.

I absolutely love the Martial Arts World. I love the program. I love how they actually help you lose weight. I've tried other locations like Dong's Karate and Taekwondo, but none of them compare to Martial Arts World. They make you work for everything. I love the discipline for the kids. The staff is wonderful, and a shout-out to the owner. I love hearing from her; she is sweet and really has a passion for Martial Arts World.

Martial arts world Clover hill is nothing short of amazing. They structured approach to childcare, discipline, and martial arts as a practice are second to none. With a staff that cares for each child individually it’s a trusted place to have children to learn and grow. Their fair and competitive pricing make Martial Arts World an easy choice to pick when looking for after school care or summer camp. I have watched my own children grow and flourish in a phenomenal way with the structured, disciplined, and fun environment. Martial Arts World would be suggested for anyone looking to watch their child grow.

Excellent work environment, staff has a wealth of knowledge to share with its kids. As a staff, they truly care about the kids as if they were our own. This gives parents the comfort of knowing their children are safe as well as having fun while in their care. As a parent we understand children aren’t always going to have the best listening skills at first, but giving them a little support and discipline usually works and helps improve those skills. They offer outstanding summer camp programs, allowing children to go on weekly field trips to several different locations in the general area. Before/after care is also offered as well as evening classes. My personal experience has been great as my children (3 daughters) have been attending MAW Clover Hill for over 5 years and as a result has made an impact on their social skill development as well as their discipline. I am also happy to report that my beautiful wife also attends evening classes a few times per week. There isn’t another place I would trust more than Martial Arts World Clover Hill to send my sweet daughters to learn the marital craft and discipline.

Martial Arts World is an institution of self improvement, I've been training there for about a year now and can say I've enjoyed the challenge for both myself and my child. The staff there are knowledgeable, friendly, and most of all passionate about what they do. Not many martial arts programs these days offer a well thought out and researched philosophy to apply to an innovative martial arts curriculum. Here you get both, we are happy to be a part of the MAW family MUDO!

MAW is a fun summer camp where children can become more disciplined and explore on daily field trips. With just working here a couple months I have experienced a loving place where these children are able to openly embrace their unique personalities. Not only have the children grown; but I have too. I have grown mentally, physically, and emotionally. I know how to protect myself against self attacks and attacks from others ! This is one of the many reasons why I recommend children to come here !

I will be honest when my son first started Martial Arts World I had no idea how impactful it would be on both of our lives. My son is growing in all the best ways. He is respectful, confident and never gives up. Instructor Cross is the perfect blend of tough love and compassion that my sometimes very energetic little boy. Mariah always keeps me up to date on everything I need to know. I am so glad my son does not just go to a daycare he is actually learning life skills that will make him a better person. I couldn’t imagine taking him anywhere else.

I started taking my grandchildren here so they would have something to do during the winter months. I never imagined 3 weeks later I would be a part of the class. After watching how patient Instructor Cross was with each person (no matter age or skill) I had the desire to give it a try. It is the best thing I have done for myself in quite awhile. The atmosphere is such that everyone encourages each other. In a world that can be pretty negative this is a great escape. It is not only about the physical but I leave determined that each day will be the best I can make it. Besides all of that, I am making memories that will last a lifetime with my grandbabies. I encourage people to take advantage of the free trial period. That is how we got started. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain.

My son was in the after-school program and caught covid. He was out for a month, but this place has a 30 day cancellation policy, so we ended up paying for a full month that he wasn't there. You might want to consider alternative after-school care that has a more lenient cancellation/pause policy. It's odd they would burn bridges like that, we would have definitely continued using them for after-school care after he was well, but the experience has made us look elsewhere.

I came in to Martial Arts off Hull st not too long ago and signed my daughter up for summer camp. Well I realized that her daycare could continue to provide her care, so I decided to stay with them instead of changing up everything. Well Jessica and me talked a lot prior to signing up. She did give me papers to sign and not ever during any of our conversations did she mention I couldn't get my money back! If so I wouldn't have signed up immediately, I would of thought about it more. I called and talked to her about having my daughter stay with her daycare and she said they have a 30 day cancelation policy and I would be fine. Again never mentioning the money was non refundable! I was there in person and she never mentioned it then either. So I canceled my plan within 5 days which was in the perimeters of her 30 she mentioned. When I got there she told me that I could cancel and then I was like okay well can I get my money back. She was like oh no I can't do that. She just said I can't give your money back and even at that moment she never elaborated on why she couldn't give me my money back, she never insinuated any rules or policies. Having me pay $155 within only 5 days is ridiculous. I am extremely upset and won't be referring anyone to this place. I will let people know how unpleasant my experience was.

Awful experience. Chaotic, unstructured classes. My daughter quickly grew to hate it. But good luck trying to cancel- even though I was told it was a month to month commitment before signing up, suddenly I had to give 90 days notice to cancel. So they squeezed all the $ out of me they could. And don’t try to talk to the owner about it, she will be extremely dismissive. Stay away!

To be an owner of an establishment for children and lack proper patience with them to the point of laying your hands on and grabbing a child that is not your own is EXTREMELY unprofessional and completely unacceptable. Do not take your child here. A place like this needs to have patience for children in all kinds of circumstances.

Absolutely horrible hands down the worst one we have been to. She specifies in the Groupon that they will give you a “uniform” which is really a shirt but that’s not even the problem my kid went for 5 weeks never received one she kept claiming she had to order but conveniently for her they magically appeared after she wanted us to pay for the classes. Also they claim it’s 10 classes but yet she told me we had to pay after 5 because she apparently told me that they have 30 days to use the 10 classes but from the start who I talked to on the phone said to pick a day of week to come in so I figured once a week for 10 weeks we would attend but instead she claims she told us that we had 30 days which was one of her many other lies . They spend most of their time on the same 3 older kids instead of really helping the new younger kids at all it’s just all around a very unorganized place. The one older guy who helps out cleaned the mats that you train on with the bathroom mop, when the lady in front asked him about it she didn’t decide to go over it with the mat mop she instead proceeded with the class and allowed everyone to train bare foot on a mat that was cleaned with a bathroom mop. In general the place smells terrible.

I spoke to the owner Jessica Cross about my almost 14-year-old wanting to try martial arts. I asked if there were other middle school students in the after-school classes. She told me there were 11. She said each day after school my son would receive an hour long martial arts lesson. I asked what the cancellation policy is if it doesn't work out. She said it was a weekly draft and just to let her know. None of this was true in my experience. My son started and it was not age-appropriate martial arts lessons. He was put in a class with very young children that were struggling to follow strict rules. He stood there while young children were put back in lines and corrected over and over. They were constantly being punished for not listening. Punishments included hitting them with the items that were meant for kicking and taking the kids outside on the hot pavement to do push-ups. Many young children would cry. Very little martial arts instruction took place. I tried to contact Jessica to see if there was a way to provide my son age-appropriate martial arts lessons. I called and left messages. I emailed both emails. I left a Facebook message. She did not return any of my calls or emails. Finally, John returned my call and I expressed my concern about this being an after-school daycare with some small amount of martial arts but not age appropriate for my son. I was paying a lot for what was not being delivered. He said my characterization of it mainly being a daycare was not wrong. I asked him to have Jessica call me. He said he would. She never called so I wrote to them that I had to cancel as this was not martial arts lessons for a teenager. To date, Jessica has never responded to any of my concerns. I had hoped to find a solution but the lack of communication and integrity from an organization that was supposed to be teaching good values was striking. I have, however, received calls almost daily since we stopped going from some company in Florida telling me that I was not paying for lessons. I told them I had cancelled because I was not getting what I had paid for. They continue to harass me to pay for lessons I have not received. I even paid for an extra week after I cancelled. If they continue to harass me, I will be seeking a refund for the dollars I paid as they did not provide the services promised. It will be interesting to see if they respond here and say something to discredit me. This wouldn't even be here if Jessica had bothered to return any of my outreach. She should do the right thing which would be apologize for the lack of communication, acknowledge that it was not a good fit, and be more forthcoming in the future with older students considering their after-school program. Additionally, she should stop the daily calls insisting I pay for services not delivered. He joined only days before school started and he attended just a couple of weeks. His presence or lack thereof did not cause them to incur any additional costs.
