Amazing gym, students and instructors. I asked if I could drop into a class while I was in town and they were more than happy to let me train at their gym! Again great people, really appreciate them all and very knowledgeable.
Our gym had some electrical problems and we couldn't train. The owner of the Base (Ben) extended an invitation to train at their gym. We were welcomed and had great rolls with his students. Top notch coaching and great fundamentals from his students.
Great team and facilities. BJs ability to teach technique, even very complex ones, is amazing! Great fun and a no bs contracts.
Dropped in while traveling for work, they were all real welcoming and I got an hour of good rounds in with everyone there. Very clean and nice place. Definately recommend for anyone who wants to learn a life skill. 10 out of 10.
Absolutely the best juijitzu academy. Not only do they teach skills but life lessons as well and have such a great sense of teamwork and sportsmanship
Driving through from Washington to Colorado for work and decided to stop by and check the place out. Had a great time training tonight! Their new gym is really nice! Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Being a 6 month beginner its sometimes intimidating going to a new place but everyone here made me feel like home. I will be coming back again if I am ever in the area for work! Thanks everyone at The Base for a great experience! Dan Roy Washington
BJ is awesome. I just started, but I already feel comfortable enough to ask questions.
I walked in and felt welcome from the beginning. Professor Ben and Profesor Wood were giving a class and made time to welcome me and make me feel at my home. The environment is very safe and fitting for all types of skill, beginners and very high skilled practitioners will gain great experience while being here. Thank you and I'm sure I'll be back for more rolls.
Amazing place to learn wrestling and jiu jitsu!! 10/10 recommend!
I visited Boise while I was on a roadtrip about a week ago and dropped into their Monday 6pm Gi class. BJ's instruction was great and we had the opportunity for plenty of rounds when instruction ended. Everyone was very friendly and the technique in the gym was super solid. I would recommend coming here to train if you're in Boise!
Dropped by while passing through Boise. The adult gi class I attended was well structured and informative. Everyone was very welcoming- I love that they have lots of female bjj practitioners here. This will be my go to bjj spot in Boise whenever I visit!
Great place to train! I was visiting Boise for a week and they treated me like I had been training there for years. Kyle is a great teacher along with everyone else I got a chance to roll and drill with. Great diversity in skill levels as well. Would highly recommend.
Really welcoming, the instructors are great, a gi is provided and many more perk. If you’re looking for a place to start or continue your bike career I would 100% recommend the base.
A great place to train. Top level instructors and a welcoming atmosphere I would definitely recommend the base jui jitsu Boise
Good people, good training! Lots of times to practice.
We are from Philly and spent two weeks in Boise with family. Our 7 year old daughter has been taking BJJ at home for 3 months and we didn’t want her to miss any skills while we’re gone. Professor BJ and his staff were amazing! The teachers were attentive, the skills were targeted/focused and my daughter really benefited from the amount of time the students got to roll with each other. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars!
Very kind and friendly environment. The Base Jiu Jitsu contains very knowledgeable instructors. Highly recommend if you are searching for jiu jitsu in the Boise area! And if you have never done jiu jitsu and thinking about, go for it!
My daughter is 8 she is shy and quiet. She wanted to get into jiu jitsu we found this gym called them and they where very helpful over the phone, told us to come in fill out some paper work (super easy on a tablet) and she’s in they give you a free gi and she started practice that day. Coach Corey and coach Kyle have been helping her a ton. She looks forward to going to practice. Another thing is the kids practice is 5 days a week. Which is great a lot of other places where two and felt like that wasn’t enough. Thank you the base for getting my daughter out of comfort zone and teaching her life skills.
My son and I absolutely love this place. Very positive, constructive environment. Everybody, coaches and students, are very laid back and easy to get along with. The entire place is clean and well maintained, and the art if jiu jitsu itself is easily one of my favorite things. We plan on spending a lot of time here and recommend anyone interested, at least give it a shot!
We're a Military family who recently received orders to the Boise area. Our kids attended a small Jiu-Jitsu academy in MO. Which we absolutely loved. I wanted to try and find a similar place here in Idaho. Although The Base isn't small like our other academy, it is fantastic. They offer 5 days a week of training. Including a no gi class. Coach Cory and Coach Kyle are amazing with the kids. We are loving it!
First day, but the people are friendly and the instructions easy to follow. Will keep going.
I've experienced nothing but smiles, positive attitudes and motivating teachers! Everyone wants to see you succeed, which adds extra motivation to help your training partners to get better. I even brought my daughter to watch a couple classes, expecting her to get bored. When she saw other girls rolling around and controlling their sparring buddies with ease, her interest skyrocketed! Jiu Jitsu is such a humbling and amazing sport! And The Base is the place to learn it!
Of all the ppaces in the valley I have been. This is hands done the best, the professors are top notch. I am so glad i gave them a try! Owner is truly passionate. Seriously worth going to. Kids classes are great adult are even better.
Me and my kids do jujitsu and we love it 👍
Great gym, even better classmates/instructors. Everyone is super willing to help, whether it’s instruction on technique, advice on a workout regiment or diet, or anything else you could ask. The environment is super friendly and very inviting. Would 10/10 recommend. Come in and give it a shot. Regardless of whether you’ve already trained jiu jitsu, or never done it a day in your life. You’ll have a great time.
My 4 grandkids have been students at #TheBaseJiuJitsuBoise for over 2 years. The BJJ instruction is outstanding along with the instructors from the numerous black belts to coaches of senior belt ranks. The owner/operator Ben Buttars sets an excellent example for all the black belts and coaches who train the many kids and teens who study at The Base. I am thrilled with what my 4 grandkids are learning in BJJ and the character they are building through those studies. ***** 5 Stars from me.
Amazing instruction, clean facility, and positive vibes! Would recommend jits players of any belt level to come train here at the base.
I had a great experience at THE BASE! I was from out of town looking for a place to train and they were extremely welcoming and acomidating even provided me a loaner gi. The instructors are high level and the attention to details awesome. Every one was very friendly made me feel like I was at my home gym the first time there. Looking forward to return as soon as possible! Thank you to every one there!
I’m sorry that 1 star review was a typo...I must have mis-clicked while using the navigation. I would give a review of 5 stars !! First lesson was encouraging and motivational, and I had a lot of fun yesterday and today.
We came to the Boise area for graduations. My son wanted to roll and BJ welcomed us in. The instructors were great and the kids class was a blast! Thank you for a great morning. We can’t wait to come back again.
When searching for a place to train the first thing that made me interested in training here was the schedule. They offer a 6 am class that no where else that I looked offered which allows me to get my training in, get to work, and not miss time with the family. The instruction is top notch and the culture is welcoming. You will not be disappointed if you decide to train here!
I was in Boise for work and found The Base. This is a great place to train. The environment is friendly and welcoming. It is a very respectful school and the coaches/instructors are phenomenal. Ben and Nick specifically were a great help to me even though I was only a guest. They have a great group of people there and I would recommend this school to anyone who is visiting in town or lives in Boise and i looking to train.
I've been training at the Base for 9 years. The Jiu Jitsu is top-notch and everyone there is friendly and welcoming. Come train! You won't regret it!
Very good school everybody nice and kind had a great time
Best jiu jitsu academy in Idaho. Fantastic instructors who strive to make you better each day.
I just started not even 2 months ago but this is the most fun I've ever had. Ben is extremely friendly and a great instructor pointing out every little detail all his students need to succeed. Very friendly environment that encourages everyone to get better . Not just the instructors teach, but everyone is teaching everyone. No one has been unnecessarily rough and it's a great facility. I come here to have fun and be better, the getting fit and stronger is just added pros. I've been to 2 other bjj places, but this is the one I prefer.
Its a family you want to be a part of. Professor Ben and his staff are just as happy helping a complete novice as they are helping an advanced athlete. Athletes from elsewhere in the country regularly come in and are very welcome when they do. Its definitely a place you won't want to leave and there's a reason why they are the premier Jiujitsu academy in Boise.
This place is awesome! Period. I came here from another state looking to continue to my BJJ journey and found the Base. Welcoming people and top notch instruction from Ben the head professor and all his staff. Ben takes the time to explain each move and allows plenty of time to drill and free roll. If you want a legit place to train and have fun look no further.
These guys are great at training for BJJ. They all have a heart for those that want to learn!
I've training at the Base for over 3 years now and I absolutely love it. The instructors are amazing and very knowledgeable. This place feels like family, everyone is very helpful and willing to teach. I'm glad I found this place and will continue my journey with the Base. Come check it out for yourself.
The Base is an amazing place for kids and adults to learn Jiu Jitsu and so much more! My son has been coming here for 5+ years and the growth he's had physically and emotionally is simply amazing. The instructors truly care for the success of all the kids and always make it fun to learn. This place has become our family! I highly recommend the Base Jiu Jitsu academy!
I've been training at The Base for nearly 5 years. I love this place! The people that train here are some of the finest humans you could ever hope to meet. You get the best workout and learn super cool technique at the same time! If I could give another star I would. Highly recommended!!
Couldn't be happier with my experience at The Base. Very high-level jiu jitsu taught by great people. Welcoming atmosphere and great schedule.
It starts from the top down at The Base. Ben to the black belts to the brown belts to the purple belts to the blue and white belts. Respect, hard work, technique, love for jiu jitsu, love for you team mates......New white belts are treated with respect. The upper belts have bnot forgotten what it's like to be the new white belt. I'm not saying it's easy.....but it is very rewarding cause you know that what they are teaching you is the real deal so when it does start clicking then you know your learning the right way from the best that Idaho has to offer in Bjj. Best bjj school in the state of Idaho by a wide margin and it can hang with any bjj school in the northwest easily. Highly recommended.
Life changing. There is something that happens to a person when they learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or "BJJ". It's been described a multitude of different ways. I think it's best explained by any of the parents with children attending the kids classes. Seriously, go down and ask a parent if they recommend BJJ. I think the answers will amaze most. I've heard parents speak of the way their kids have changed for the better. I see respectful kids with discipline and maturity. I see kids being comfortable with challenges. For adults, it's just as transformative. The adult classes are absent of ego, welcoming with questions - there are gonna be a ton of questions - and rich with instruction. I came for the skill, stay for the community, and recommend BJJ to all walks of life. It's life changing. The hardest part is walking through the door. We LOVE this place! My son Jaxen looks forward to every practice and talks about it easily for a couple hours afterwards too! It has definitely helped him behavioral wise as well! I’ve recommended this place to many of my friends ;)
A worm and friendly environment that pushes people to be the best that they can be. Some of the most amazing coaches that I have ever worked with. Everyone is easy going but fair and willing to answer questions to insure that each student leaves better than when they came in for class. A great way to get into shape or peruse competitions and or earn rank whatever your goals my be.
Awesome place to learn self defense and other things, while still having fun. Highly Recommend!!
This is the place to train in Boise and a must stop for anyone headed out west. Professor Mitch is a real American Ninja, his teaching is of the highest caliber and you'll find The Base to have everything you're looking for to train Jiu Jitsu from tough, friendly competition to exceptional drill work and coaching. Thank you Mitch, Brandon and everyone who made me feel at home at The Base. Any of you are welcome to link up with me up whenever you're planning a trip to Florida. Thanks so much!
I love the Base. And I love the coaches!!! I only get to travel over once in awhile but my family sure do love coming in to train with Mitch and Jacob and many others... Great place to teach discipline and respect of self and others. And one hell of a workout!!!
Instructors and training buddies become family here! Genuine care and tons of knowledge goes into learning the art of Jiu Jitsu! Easy 5/5 stars!
The Base Training Center: Jiu-Jitsu Boise is the premier jiu-jitsu facility in the Treasure Valley. Top-notch instruction is offered at all levels!
My review is not based on the level of instruction or training atmosphere, but the complete lack of communication/responsiveness. I've tried to contact The Base both via the email system on their website as well as leaving several voicemails throughout the week, and have yet to receive a response of any kind. I understand that people get busy, but not taking the brief time to respond to someone repeatedly attempting to make contact is (in my opinion) unacceptable for a modern business, and as a potential customer has caused me to feel insignificant/unimportant before ever having the opportunity to step on the mat. I do not feel that just showing up in person should be the only acceptable method of contact. I was very interested in signing up here. The reviews are fantastic and the early morning sessions would have worked perfectly with my schedule. I am hoping that this experience is just a freak occurrence for an otherwise great place to train. If I ever get a chance to speak with someone and try a class or two, I will update my review accordingly.
