We're a Military family who recently received orders to the Boise area. Our kids attended a small Jiu-Jitsu academy in MO. Which we absolutely loved. I wanted to try and find a similar place here in Idaho. Although The Base isn't small like our other academy, it is fantastic. They offer 5 days a week of training. Including a no gi class. Coach Cory and Coach Kyle are amazing with the kids. We are loving it!
Posted 5 years agoAmazing gym, students and instructors. I asked if I could drop into a class while I was in town and they were more than happy to let me train at their gym! Again great people, really appreciate them all and very knowledgeable.
Posted 1 year agoOur gym had some electrical problems and we couldn't train. The owner of the Base (Ben) extended an invitation to train at their gym. We were welcomed and had great rolls with his students. Top notch coaching and great fundamentals from his students.
Posted 1 year agoWe are from Philly and spent two weeks in Boise with family. Our 7 year old daughter has been taking BJJ at home for 3 months and we didn’t want her to miss any skills while we’re gone. Professor BJ and his staff were amazing! The teachers were attentive, the skills were targeted/focused and my daughter really benefited from the amount of time the students got to roll with each other. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars!
Posted 4 years agoLife changing. There is something that happens to a person when they learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or "BJJ". It's been described a multitude of different ways. I think it's best explained by any of the parents with children attending the kids classes. Seriously, go down and ask a parent if they recommend BJJ. I think the answers will amaze most. I've heard parents speak of the way their kids have changed for the better. I see respectful kids with discipline and maturity. I see kids being comfortable with challenges. For adults, it's just as transformative. The adult classes are absent of ego, welcoming with questions - there are gonna be a ton of questions - and rich with instruction. I came for the skill, stay for the community, and recommend BJJ to all walks of life. It's life changing. The hardest part is walking through the door.
