Mr. Waterfield is an amazing instructor. He is very knowledgeable and he both challenges and encourages his students. My daughter has learned so much and I love watching her self confidence grow. My husband and I recently started the adult classes and they are fantastic workouts that build skills based on our individual abilities. Caden at the front desk is always so friendly and helpful. The assistant instructors are excellent as well. I definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in learning taekwondo.

Southlake Martial Arts is great. Kids learn discipline, respect, and good behavior. The instructor is fantastic. Kids engage every second. All staff is friendly. They also have great plans for the whole family. You should definitely consider this place for your kids martial arts development.

Mr.Waterfield is outstanding teacher! He works really well with the kids. When we first started he always tried to encourage the kids keep them motorvated and active! As they improve on higher levels , expectations have to be met which is good thing because you are now really earning your goals and your full potential of discipline.

My daughter has been in this school for about 4 year. During this time she has received her first degree black belt as well as high level of encouragement and training from Mr. Requena, Mr. Waterfield and Miss Wallace .. Her self confidence as well physical ability has improved phenomenally. We are very happy to be part of this school.

My kids look forward to coming here. They can come any day of the week to their class, which helps a lot with scheduling with other seasonal activities, illness, etc. They are organized, on-time, and professional. They know how to keep things fun and exciting for the kids, while also teaching respect and responsibility.

I worked hard to obtain my Black Belt at this school and even now my younger brother is working to get his. I can’t imagine us ever going to a better school and I love that we’ve both been able to go here for years and see how it’s continued to grow and get better while it taught us to be better in our daily lives.

My family and I have been a part of this school for over 10 years. Two of my sons achieved their Black Belt and a third is already working hard to get his. The school has grown over the years and only gets better. The staff is friendly and clearly knows what they are doing while the facility is massive and kept to high standards of cleanliness. I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years bring at this school!

I’ve been involved in martial arts in one way or another for the last 30 years. As soon as my sons were old enough I enrolled them at Southlake Martial Arts. We love this place! The instruction is second to none and the place is always clean. Not only does Mr. Requena teach the physical aspects of martial arts but he also hold students accountable for their behavior outside of class. Each month there is a new value students must display in order to achieve their stripe for example honesty and self discipline. SLMA is a ATA accredited school. Class are fun, high energy, and interesting. Instructors challenge students without causing little ones anxiety. The pricing is a value considering the quality of instruction.

We transferred our son here from another facility and it was like going from a Golf cart to a Ferrari. Atmosphere, instructors....you name it and Southlake Martial Arts is miles above the competition. This is the standard to measure by. Whatever your goal might be, they have every tool to make that 100% attainable for you. The staff is very personable and make every possible effort to teach success. There are many events to come out for as well. Come check them out.

Coming from a different martial arts school, I was a little skeptical. My son LOVES his class and instructor. His class is fun yet disciplined. Ms. Wallace is tough but kind. She shows great compassion with the younger kids. Their belt ceremonies are ran efficiently and on time. I love how all the instructors want to help the kids succeed. Definitely recommend SLMA!

We had been with this martial arts studio for over two years, and both of my kids truly loved being part of it. We were very pleased with the experience—up until they suddenly gave us a 3-week notice that the Portage location was closing down. At first, they cut Monday classes due to staff shortages. We adjusted. No problem. The instructors and staff were always amazing—caring, skilled, and supportive. That never changed. We especially want to thank Mr. Carter, who has been absolutely awesome with my kids. He’s been so helpful, encouraging, and positive throughout our time there. We truly appreciate all he’s done for them. What changed, unfortunately, was how we were treated once the closure was announced. I reached out to Jordyn (twice) asking for a refund for the advanced payments we made—this includes belt graduations paid through the end of the year for both of my children. Her response was that their policy doesn’t allow refunds. But they didn’t uphold their end of the agreement by staying open. Had they stayed, we would have gladly continued. It’s frustrating and disappointing to end on this note, especially after years of loyalty and support.

Do not go here this place does not run their business fairly and lock people in forcefully. The staff are great and they do their job well but the owner Jordyn and their financial team do not care about you just the money. We were fine until recently they did a schedule change that became a conflict with our schedules due to other commitments. We tried to cancel because there are no other way to make it work. After bouncing back and forth with Jordyn and the financial team. All they are saying they can do nothing and the only way we can cancel was if there was a medical necessity or moved which was not clearly stated when we signed up mind you it was in fine print, small, at the very bottom. They will not refund us, they want us to keep paying them even though we can no longer attend. They are dishonest and I am saying this to make others aware of their distrust
