Fantastic experience here, booked a trial session and loved it! The venue is spacious, clean and well managed with a slick website and onboarding process. Instructors are welcoming, informative and supportive. It has a real team vibe here with the other members of the class showing patience with a novice like me and giving me tips along the way. The structure of the class provides in depth tuition of the techniques and a chance to practice them followed by sparring which was so much fun and a great workout! I’ll definitely be back again when my aging body has recovered, highly recommend Dom’s Mathouse to anyone interested in BJJ. 5 stars all round!

Fantastic gym, coaches and a great community that makes you feel very welcome. Spotlessly clean and safe environment to train in. Space is large and well set up for BJJ and other classes. Lots of sessions on offer for training throughout the week. Everyone at the club is extremely welcoming and friendly. I was unsure about attending mixed level classes but the positive environment created by everyone makes it a great place to progress.

An exceptional training environment with great instruction and a great community. I started BJJ at this gym with the beginner's course and have loved training here ever since. I have had the opportunity to train at several other gyms, and I can confidently say that Mathouse stands out above the rest in terms of quality of instruction, punctuality of classes, hygiene, teammates looking after one another, and white belts not spazzing out.

I trained at Mathouse for a few months after relocating to Reading. It's a really great club and Dom should be very proud of what he's achieved both in terms of a high quality training environment and club ethos. The space is generous, spotlessly clean and well set up for BJJ and another grappling sports. Dom's instruction is clear and insightful. The real standout for me however, is that Dom is far more involved with his students than many other gyms I've trained. I think this helps foster a very welcoming and non-cliquey atmosphere. And also he's more aware of where you are on your BJJ journey. Get down there!

TL;DR - incredible gym, incredible coaching, incredible culture. The standout experience for me at mathouse was when Dom told me “hey, this is your house too”. That’s the most perfect way I can sum up the culture of the school. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started BJJ, but what I found was beyond what I could have hoped; Dom has created a great atmosphere full of students that are welcoming to new starters, with a sincerely collaborative and friendly environment. Whether a competition hopeful or a hobbyist, you will receive truly excellent instruction that will help you advance in the sport. Dom’s instruction is perfect and easy to follow, breaking down concepts into simple steps and allowing you to string them together under supervision. The culture is friendly to new starters beyond anything I’ve experienced in any other sport or club. To put it simply, if you’re not there to train well and look after your teammates, I don’t think you’ll do well at Mathouse, otherwise, you’ll get on great :) I’ve been attending for under a year and can happily say I’m not looking back. Dom demonstrates discipline in a way that is constructive and never ‘over the top’ that you sometimes hear of nightmare gyms. You can tell that he truly wants his students to succeed, and that’s also evident in the excellent instruction received from Zach, who occasionally takes classes. Classes are informative, with someone always on hand to help monitor and correct technique. Sparring is fun and safe. Overall, I would 100% recommend this BJJ school. Honestly I’ve never enjoyed a contact sport so much.
