What is the format for SGT INTERNATIONAL SUBMISSION ONLY?
The tournament uses a submission-only, round-robin format for Gi and No-Gi divisions. The most submissions in the division wins.
What happens if there are no submissions?
If there are no submissions in a bout, it is called a draw. If there are no submissions in the division, no medals are awarded.
Who can compete?
The tournament offers Gi and No-Gi divisions for kids, teens, adults, and masters. Ages 6 years and above can enter.
What rules apply to Gi and No-Gi divisions?
Kids, teens, and adults Gi divisions use IFBJJ rules. No-Gi divisions use modified “SGT Rules.”
How long are the matches?
Kids 6–12 have 3 minute rounds, teens have 4 minute rounds, juvenile and adults have 5 minute rounds, black belt adults have 10 minute rounds, and black belt masters have 6 minute rounds.
How many bouts will competitors have?
There are up to 4 bouts per division. Divisions of 8 or more are split into pools, with each pool winner going to the finals.
What happens in a division with only 2 athletes?
A group of 2 athletes is run as a “best of three” style division with a minimum of 2 bouts.
