Perth has one of the busiest BJJ comp calendars in Western Australia. Submission Grappling Tournaments (SGT) is among the most active organisers, running the SGT Perth State Championship in Gi and No-Gi, the SGT Perth State Submission Championships and the SGT International Submission Only event. If you are looking for a BJJ tournament in Perth, these series come around regularly.
The Australasian Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championship (ABJJC) holds both the ABJJC Perth Open and the ABJJC Perth Championship, and ADCC WA runs the ADCC Perth Cup for No-Gi grapplers. PerthBJJ is another regular organiser. Other recurring competitions include the George Samios Cup, the Perth Cup Gi round robin, the King of Perth Jiu-Jitsu round robin for kids, adults and masters, and a dedicated submission tournament for adult and masters white belts.
Gi divisions are offered slightly more often than No-Gi, while around one in six events includes an absolute division and roughly one in eight runs kids divisions. IBJJF rules are the most common ruleset, with submission only and ADCC rules also used, and round robin formats are popular. Adult entry usually costs around A$35โA$115. November is the busiest month, followed by March and December.
