Wrestling Queensland Inc. is proud to present the 2026 Brisbane Youth Wrestling Open Competition.

Parking is available under the PCYC, press the PCYC button at the boom gate, or on the street nearby.

Time

  • Weigh In: 8:45-9:15am
  • Set Up: 9:15-10:15am (volunteers appreciated)
  • Competition start: 10:45am

Cost

  • $30 early bird entry during August, up to 31 August 2026
  • $40 regular entry until 2 weeks before the competition, up to 17 October 2026
  • $50 late entry until the Tuesday before the competition, up to 27 October 2026

Registration

Registration must be received through Smoothcomp by the cut off date. No registrations will be permitted following the cut off or on the day of the competition.

Freestyle

  • Male / Female Combined 6-7 years 
  • Male / Female Combined 8-9 years

Age Requirements

Age submissions are to be based on the age your are turning within the calendar year not the age at the time of the competition unless stated otherwise.

All participants must provide proof of age when they weigh in, please have this ready at the time of weigh in. Acceptable proof of age documents include brith certificate, school ID or passport. 

Weight Requirements

Wrestlers must weigh in exactly on or under their nominated category weight. No weight tolerance is allowed.

Wrestlers must weigh in in their wrestling uniform with exception of foot wear.

Wrestlers will be checked for skin infections at the time of weigh in. It is the wrestlers responsibility to ensure they are free of skin infections to avoid disqualification. 

Please ensure that you enter the correct weight categories when you register for the competition.  No changes to category can be made on day and if weight is not made matches will be forfeited.

Suplex Policy

Athletes under the age of 18 are not permitted to perform a suplex.

Uniform Requirements

Wrestling singlets and boots are required. Please ensure you have both blue and red singlets available. Underwear worn under the wrestling singlet must not contain hard plastic or metal components; for example zips on sports bras.

A relaxed uniform requirement for some ages is being considered for this competition. At this stage this is not confirmed but more information will be made available along with confirmation in the coming weeks.

We welcome all supporters and spectators. There is no entry cost for spectators.
