All athletes (both junior and senior):
- The competition will be scored in accordance with the latest 2024 edition rules published by the IWUF.
- All modern categories will be judged using the 7/3 (group A / group B) scoring method.
- All categories must conform with the IWUF time requirements for respective events.
- There are no specific categories to distinguish beginners from advanced practitioners.
- Each athlete may only enter one empty hand, one short weapon and one long weapon at most.
- Categories may be merged at the BCCMA’s discretion
- Male and female competitors will be combined in all categories should there be insufficient entries per event per gender
- It is common at international events to employ caps for group B (overall performance) scoring. We will not be employing scoring caps at this competition, and all group B scores will be in line with the standard group B table in the 2024 IWUF rules.
Senior athletes (born before 01/01/09):
- All Athletes in senior categories are allowed to perform either compulsory or optional Taolu in their respective events.
- No nandu (group C) scoring will be employed at this competition.
Junior athletes (born between 01/01/09 and 31/12/17):
- Junior athletes can choose to enter at most, one age category higher than their designated age category in the table below. That is to say group C athletes can enter group B events, and group B athletes can enter group A events, and group A athletes can enter adult events.
- Junior athletes can also choose to compete in their correct age category but with advanced routines. Specifically, group C athletes can perform group B routines, and group B athletes can perform group A routines. Group A athletes must enter adult categories to perform and compete in optional Taolu routines. If junior athletes wish to enter a higher age category, they must perform the compulsory routines associated to that age category.
- Compulsory routines must not be changed or deviate in content from the published versions by the IWUF. This includes the addition or removal of any movements. A head judge deduction will be applied where movements are either added or removed. The only exception to this rule will be in the group A categories of Changquan, Daoshu, Jianshu, Gunshu, and Qiangshu, where the split landing in the first section of each routine, may be replaced with either a Zuopan or Mabu landing.
