Tyler Murphy
Black Belt
Tyler Murphy began training in December 2012 under Coach Kyle Dalton. He trained at High Noon from its inception in 2018 until leaving to open The Scrapyard, and received his Black Belt from Coaches Tim Dawson and Matt Miller in 2023. His training included bi-weekly trips to Unity to work with Eddie Cummings on leg locks.
He competed at ADCC Trials, Fight 2 Win, IBJJF, and local tournaments, and was a regular medal winner at Grappling Industries, Newbreed, Copa Nova and NAGA. During his purple belt years he began shifting his focus from competition toward coaching and how people learn best.
Tyler implements the Constraints Led Approach (CLA), focusing on the individual and the psychology of the sport. He aims to create an inclusive, enjoyable environment where athletes experiment, grow, and work toward their own goals. He continually refines his teaching methodology, welcomes feedback, and encourages open communication between coach and athlete.
Outside coaching, Tyler runs the combat-sports photography business FeverShots and enjoys pour over coffee, cooking, and relaxing with his blind cat, Ellie.
