Great people, great coaches, and a great place to train! Overall a fantastic martial arts gym whether you’re brand new to martial arts or have been training for a while and want to compete. There’s something for everyone at the Void!

New location in east Austin checks all the boxes! Clean habits, new training gear, stoked coaches, sweet students always down to help, great communicators, affordable, new shower access, additional options for more fitness facilities on site. Even though this gym is 20 minutes further for me from the last location, I'm still pumped to go to class! That says a lot if you know what driving at rush hour in Austin is like.

Great gym with great coaches. It’s a smaller community gym, where they really care about their students and you get a lot of hands on time with instructors to improve. Whether you’re looking to strike, grapple, or both, the Void is a great spot to develop yourself. This gym has been a huge part of helping me find success as a jiu-jitsu and mma competitor, and it’s also a spot that I feel 100% confident that my partner can train at and be taken seriously and be given a safe environment to spar and grapple as a woman in martial arts.

What can I say except *chefs kiss* this gym, these instructors, the practice space along with the fitness compound and all their amenities, include multiple saunas and cold plunges, 5 stars all across the board. This gym is perfect for learning a lil something something n staying in shape. Marz will destroy you and Bart will rebuild you. They’re the perfect dichotomy.

Best place in Austin. I've trained at other gyms/ schools and the Void has been the best I've trained at. From the culture and knowledge all the way to the cleanliness of the facility. This is the ONLY martial arts gym I would recommend

I’m on my first week, doing a free trial and it’s an amazing experience. Bart and Mars are both great instructors, easy to digest directions in a great environment. Very stoked to join!

I love this gym to the death. I called it my home. Great people over there. Despite my deafness, they will always find a way to communicate with me and always make sure I understand the instructions. I have so much to say about The Void MMA due to me coming to the gym everyday dedicated. People in the gym is like a family to me. I will encourage people I know to go to this gym, no questions asked!

Been going for 2 years and still loving it! Coaches are so patient, the smaller atmosphere and classes means more personal engagement and fine tuning of technique. Having all skill levels in the same class was an adjustment, but even the students help each other. We were all beginners once, right? There's a bit of everybody - all ages, genders, and skill levels, students who speak very little english, hearing impaired students, new moms, veterans, people in recovery, and retirees. It's such a unique and special place that I wish wasn't a hidden gem. Everyone needs to know about The Void! Also, plenty of parking and super close to 71 and I-35, so easy to get to, too!

When I arrived in the void I was lost. The pandemic created a chasm between myself and many things I love, including martial arts. At the void I found a community that was prepared to meet me where I was at in my martial arts journey. The void is a great place for all levels of martial artists.

I’ve been fortunate to train at the Void since January of 2022 and the training and coaching have been top tier. The entire staff and coaches have extensive experience not only training various martial arts but also competing at the highest of levels. Fast forward to 2024 and the gym recently got a new facelift and they are always welcoming newcomers!

I’ve been training at the Void for a few years, focusing on jiujitsu with Bart, Lin, and Mars—three exceptional black belt instructors. I also can’t get enough of the morning yoga classes. The atmosphere here is second to none—welcoming, supportive, and fun. To me, the instructors are the heart of the dojo. They’ll make you feel at home no matter your experience level, and the smaller class sizes mean you have access to plenty of one-on-one attention to really hone your skills. I can’t recommend this place enough!

This is a place where you can grow and improve yourself. Since I started in February, I have seen great physical and mental progress. The coaches and staff are amazing, and the people who train here are supportive and friendly. It's a place I would bring my friends to train when they visit, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to start their martial arts journey and become the best version of themselves.

Great small mma school with traditional martial arts roots. Wonderful group who build each other up to meet their potential. Attentive and knowledgeable instructors. Been a student there since 2018, it’s the best decision I’ve made for both my mental and physical health.

When I first moved to Austin I was shopping around for a place to resume my martial arts training....I'm glad this was the first one I came to. My background is diverse and inconsistent, a blend of traditional styles, and Bart is very good at working with whatever you already have coming in and building on it. The Void has a great vibe, relaxed yet challenging at the same time. Everyone is supportive and there's no big egos or overbearing, abrasive instruction. Bart's style is practical, smart and very good for self defense, there's no pretentious fluff going on. Whether you're into grappling, striking or both, you'll find what you're looking for here.

My six year old son and I love the Bullyproof program they have, Learning self-defense and discipline while having fun doing it is incredible. Antonio and Bart are amazingly professional and courteous, they didn’t even charge me For my sons uniform. I strongly recommend it for your kiddos, Great value for the service provided.

Immediately liked the vibe when I first went. The coaches are highly skilled and want to help everyone be better than they were the week prior. One of the best feelings I get now is after completing a class where I learned a new combo or skill that I can add to my game. Whether it’s standing up throwing punches or on the ground locking up, they will make you better.

I've just started coming to the Void but already they have been so welcoming. As a newbie, I am given lots of attention to make sure I am doing everything correctly, and everyone is so encouraging! And the workouts are hard as hell (in the best way)!

I've been training at The Void since February 2020 and have genuinely enjoyed every moment of it. The instructors and students are exceptionally welcoming and friendly, and create a great learning environment for new-comers and those with more experience. Highly recommend this gym for anyone who has been training in the martial arts or is looking to get into it.

I've been training here just over a year, but martial arts for about 5 years. A great school with lots of great coaches. Bart is super nice and knowledgeable in both grappling and striking martial arts. The atmosphere is perfect for a martial arts gym in my opinion. Not too traditional and rigid, but also not meat heady. Everyone here takes care of each other, whether you're looking for competition training or just training to get in better shape. I highly recommend The Void to anyone looking to start training martial arts, or if they just moved to Austin and need a new gym to call home.

I absolutely love this place! I bought a 10 pack of kickboxing classes on Groupon and have fell in love since day 1! I can’t wait to join monthly. The owner, Bart, puts his heart into this facility. From the incredible instructors (shout-out to Sabrina) to Michelle at the front desk, I highly recommend this place. Such a welcoming environment for all skill levels. UPDATE: I have now been training here for five months and it was the best decision I have made. I recently started going to the BJJ classes as well and I'm hooked! It's crazy how fast you feel part of the family here and I highly recommend this gym.

I have the opportunity to be part of this awesome studio for a few months last year and freaking love it. Great place for all levels of students. I never done kickboxing in my life before and I was very nervous the first time. It only toke one class for me to see how awesome the atmosphere and the teacher (Bart) was in this studio. Now, I love the sport and I’m looking forward to learn more. Site note, do to work schedule I haven’t been able to go this year so far. But my goal is to get back to it as soon as I get my work schedule under control. Enrique Comparán,

This is an awesome place to train martial arts, conditioning, and strength. I am training kick boxing and the coach is super detail oriented, always watching and giving advise on how to do things better. I have been here for a month and I’ve trained in many places in Austin. This is by far the best for me. The vibe is really great. Not violent and emphasis on respect.

I've been training at the void for about 5 years now and I look forward to going everyday. The instructors are very professional and friendly and you are able to go at your own pace. There is a great kids program as well for any parents wanting to teach their children self defense.

I’ve been training at the void (formerly known as The Pit) for over 7 years now. Admittedly didn’t want to write a review b/c I love that most of the classes are smallish (personal attention) and all the instructors have been training for over a decade. However this is such a great school I would love to share it with everyone. I started at the school just doing cardio/kickboxing to get fit, then Hawaiian Kempo for self-defense, and later Jiu Jitsu which has now lead me to be the Blue Belt no gi World Champion 2017. So whether you’re a hobbyist or interested in becoming a competitor come check out this Void.
