Ignore the ignorant lame review bombs, only pay attention to students that have actually trained at this school in person. Chris and Pat run a great low key and welcoming school. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned grappler, this is a great place to improve your skills and stay motivated. You will for sure get plenty of hands on personal attention from each instructor.
I have trained under Chris for 3 years. This gym, with the addition of his son Pat, is high level bjj. Great experience, amazing coaches, friendly people. I definitely recommend for everyone, from kids to adults, they display great training regiments!
I always wanted to take jiu jitsu but never had the confidence. A friend of mine recommended going to 10th Planet. I worked with Chris and Pat on different occasions and they were both so knowledgeable and amazing! They were super patient with me and worked with me to gain more confidence. I’m not a pro yet but I don’t know that I would’ve gotten to this point without their help! The fact that they are so passionate about what they do really shows. I cannot say enough about them. I’m so happy with my progress!
Without being corny, it is obvious that most(probably all) of the negative reviews are haters who are seeing a young man and his father thrive in the world of jiu jitsu.
I have trained here before; all those claims about “cranking submissions”, and “unsafe training environment” are fake.
Pat is known for taking people’s limbs in professional jiu jitsu, but would you also crank a submission if it is fully locked in and your opponent is not tapping? When I trained with Pat, Chris and their team it was a good experience.
I would 1000% recommend!
Chris and Pat are top tier coaches who teach technique that is proven to work in competition and real life scenarios. Their academy and students are always very welcoming to new comers. Never a bad experience dealing with them. Get down and try a class!
Dropped in for a few classes. Chris and Pat are excellent coaches with amazing instruction. They’d go from student to student in order to ensure everyone understood and applied the technique regardless of skill level. Everyone in the room was super welcoming and I’d recommend anyone regardless of skill level to visit and train at the gym
Ive visited 10th Planet schools before, this is one of my favorites. It's a clean facility, the members are cool and welcoming and the knowledge taught is really high level. I drop by to roll with Pat and Chris often, they're great people. Definitely recommend to drop by and check it out for yourself.
It's such a shame people who have no life need to review to our gym and write lies about us when none of them trained with us all do to the fact Pat has a infamous rep. Meanwhile anyone who has trained with us loves Chris and Pat they go above and behind for there student's. Your crazy if you think Pat rips leg locks on his students!! He wants to teach us not hurt us and everyone who hasn't trained with us has no right to say anything about how we train. We treat each other with the up most respect, were like a little tight nit family. So for people to keep review bombing us because u simply don't like pat do us a favor and get at life. Stop trying to ruin our gyms rep when u don't even train with us. With everything being said we love newcomers and welcome to doors to anyone no matter the skill level.
I’ve had an amazing experience at 10th Planet East Long Island Jiu-Jitsu. The instruction is top-notch, and the vibe is fantastic. The trainers are down-to-earth and respectful, creating a welcoming environment for everyone. There’s a wide range of experience levels, so you can get excellent training whether you're a newcomer or a veteran on the competition scene.
If you’re looking for a place to train and grow in Jiu-Jitsu with great people, this is the spot!
My daughter and my husband go to this amazing jiujitsu gym and they couldn’t be happier!! Not only are the instructors amazing at what they do, they also make you feel so welcome and treat you like family. This was the best decision my husband and daughter have ever made! If you are looking to get in to jiujitsu or are thinking about trying a new place…run don’t walk to 10th planet east. You won’t be sorry!!
Very welcoming environment. Instructors are patient, very knowledgeable, and eager to answer any questions you have. You'll be in good hands here no matter what your goal is. They offer no gi, gi, judo, and mma classes here to make you as well rounded as you want to be. I couldn't recommend training here enough.
Positive culture and people their kill you with kindness, great for the everyday person wanting to learn a little self defense to the person who wants to be a world champion, owner is very generous has helped me on numerous occasions with customer service related issues very quickly, gym is kept to a clean standard although there's no showers so please be vigilant by changing clothing after class, wiping down with defense wipes, wearing rashguards long sleeve with spats tend to provide the best protection. They also teach highly effective techquines such as leglocks and some wrestling takedowns which can stigmatized in the sport but important to know for self defense and awareness
Don't just learn any jujutsu learn 10th planet style and come and train when you can
There is an awesome community of teachers and students at this top rate jiu jitsu school. Very cool facility co-located in a strength training gym with sauna and athletic recovery services.
Best decision I’ve made for my JJ journey! What a team/community here. The instructors, Chris and Pat have really helped elevate so much for me on and off the mats. Come check out a free class!
Awesome group here, Chris and the rest of the instructors are very technical and willing to answer any questions. Good for any skill level. Always get great training and rolls in at 10PELI!
Joining Jiu Jitsu has been one of the best things I've done physically and mentally. Chris and Pat are great coaches who are always there to help as well as making everyone there feel comfortable. If you're looking into getting Jiu Jitsu with a great community and teacher's this is your place.

Awesome school. Highly recommended. Top rate jiu jitsu instruction with offered classes both no gi and in the gi. The owner has put together a comprehensive school that offers instruction for all abilities and age groups with access to superb mat space, strength and training equipment, and recovery areas with both sauna and ice bath available. 10/10 for excellent instructors and committed and helpful students.
It’s worth noting that 10th Planet East Long Island is an outstanding school for both professional athletes and those looking to begin a training program.
The most helpful, patient, accommodating crew on all of Long Island ! Passionate coaches and members always willing to go the extra mile. High level jiu jitsu, chill environment, nothing more to ask for in a gym !

Amazing school to train and learn jiu-jitsu, excellent technique breakdowns plus great environment for any belt level that is looking to improve. They are always friendly and very welcoming to new students.
If you have been throwing around the idea to start and finally want to pull the trigger this is the perfect place. Great group of instructors and wont find a better group of guys to train with.
Best place around! Owner and instructors are phenomenal! To say it’s a friendly atmosphere is an understatement, everyone there treats each other like family. Highly recommend!

Head instructor Chris Shahgholi's passion for teaching jiu jitsu is extremely apparent. He invests himself into the progress and development of each individual student. Hard to imagine a better coach
Incredible instructors paired with a welcoming environment. You won't find a better place to train in the area! I highly recommend coming down to try this place out!!
At first I was a spaz, I was petrified. Kept thinking I could never live without weakness by my side but then I spent so many nights thinking how it did me wrong and I grew strong… and I learned how to get along.
Thanks to Coach Chris
Great place to train. High level instruction from accomplished instructors who are down to earth and humble. They have access to CrossFit and Recovery services, as well. Positive vibes and excellent training. I'm happy to be a part of it and highly recommend them.
From the moment I walked in I felt welcome.. instructors are awesome and help you every step of the way.i highly recommend anyone looking to start there jiujitsu journey to stop by and see for themselves!
Dangerously unsportsmanlike training, but if you're defending yourself in a life or death situation then maybe destroying someone's knees in a submission can be useful.
It's absolutely insane and psychopathic that you never address the fact that your son breaks students legs during not just competition but PRACTICE even and all you ever have to say is, "We don't have any students named X" or "You've never taken a class here."
Responding to reviews is wild 😭 should spend that time teaching your students proper diet and sportsmanship because they all lack both. Save your money and find another gym
I would not recommend going to a gym that teaches you to injure another fighter. People like that deserve what's coming to them. 🔪
Go ahead and reply, we all saw what your people do on youtube
Edit: You just care about curriculum, not about peoples well-being. That says enough for my review.
Terrible representation of the sport. Would not recommend doing business with these people. Might want to have the owners son talked to before his son puts him out of business.
Horrible place don't even go there and waste your money they're not worth training with. The people here are rude mean and they don't teach correctly. The owner is a lier saying I don't go there your son broke my nephews leg you punk
It started out good until this fat boy with no self control almost broke my leg during a practice (turns out his father owns the gym). I would be careful complaining they will single you out and intentionally try to hurt you
