Zero BJJ is hands down one of the best places to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and truly passionate about teaching. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have years of experience, they make everyone feel welcome and challenged. The atmosphere is friendly and respectful, and the community they’ve built is amazing. Every class is well-structured and focused, and I always leave feeling like I’ve learned something valuable. Highly recommend Zero BJJ to anyone looking to improve their skills and be part of a great team!
Posted 1 year agoWe love this gym. My kids attend classes 3 days a week and have learned so much. The coaches are awesome and great with kids. Great Gym, Great people ❤️
Posted 1 year agoIf you are lookig for an amazing place to take yourself or your child to learn BJJ, Zero is the place. Not only a gym, a family. So glad to be a part of this amazing team for the last 5 years
Posted 1 year agoHands down, the most welcoming and talented jiu jitsu gym around. As a woman, I cannot recommend this gym highly enough. Whether your goal is fitness, self defense, or looking to compete, the talent and coaching here is unmatched. All abilities are welcomed and taught in a non-intimidating way! Love it here 💜
Posted 1 year agoWhen I met coach Mike I had already previously competed in MMA and BJJ tournaments. He has completely changed my style and technique and made me so much better. Top quality instruction from the best instructors around. Whether you have previous experience or not this is a great place to start or continue your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey. Whether your interested in BJJ or MMA this is the place you want to be at in the York area. Great experience and awesome training. There is also a kids class offered with multiple coaches who are able to simplify concepts and techniques and adapt to the needs of each student.
What a great place to train. Full of good friendly people. The instructors were awesome! I felt like a part of the team immediately and got some good insight into some techniques I’ve been working on. I’ll see you guys again soon!
Awesome people, awesome sport. They also have a gym, kids wrestling classes, MMA striking, and more. Take a class in late July with no AC and you'll regret it, but you'll still come back the next day. It's hot murder yoga.
I recently joined this Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu dojo, and it's been an incredible experience. The facility is clean and well-maintained, making each training session comfortable. There's a diverse group of skilled professionals to learn from. The class schedule is accommodating, making it easy to fit training into my routine. Highly recommended for anyone interested in BJJ!
We were looking for a professional, well managed and organized Jiu Jitsu program for our three children. Zero BJJ provides a safe environment where self defense is taught while courtesy and safety towards others is strictly followed. Leaders within the school care about the perception of their school and teaching methods. They understand that the key to the success of their program is a direct reflection of the success of their students. While small, (soon moving to a much larger location) the gym is clean, well thought out and nicely decorated. My only suggestion, which I will bring up to one of the instructors, is that Zero BJJ partner with the "We Defy Foundation." The culture of Zero BJJ, I believe, would be a welcoming environment for veterans who are looking for a positive outlet with like minded people. We are proud to be part of the Zero BJJ family and look forward to many years of rolling on the mats. Update. Love the new gym
I have been going to Zero BJJ for almost a year now and it has been a great experience. One of the main things that I love about Zero is that it feels more like a community than a business. The instructors are all great people and genuinely want to see each student succeed in their own personal goals. I can tell they take genuine pleasure in seeing us students succeed. Whether you are trying to compete, have a fun form of exercise, learn how to protect yourself, or anything else you will find likeminded people at Zero BJJ who want the same thing. I personally have grown so much since starting training at Zero, and I want to see more people experience learning jiu jitsu in such an awesome environment like we have here!
Quality instruction in a safe and fun environment. Would recommend.
Great place to train and make friends. Always the nicest people.
Wonderful place with beautiful and friendly people! The instructors are excellent in transmitting their knowledge, which shows in the skills and abilities of their students.
Amazing staff and a very talented team to learn from. It’s definitely a family.
I have been training BJJ for seven years. I started in a different school, under a different Professor. I found Zero and Professor Mike several years ago and started to visit his school once a week. Mike's style of teaching is very conducive to various styles of learning. His skill at communicating is very impressive. For those who have never trained he has an uncanny way of explaining the " what, why, how, etc. " of the techniques. I have spent the last several years traveling with my Sons to visit other BJJ schools, in and out of state. I have yet to find another instructor with an ability to communicate to all level of students better. At 45 years old and riddled with injuries from my Marine Corps career, I have full faith in my teammates that we can train to my abilities without the risk of injury. The school has every type of student, professional fighters, amateur fighters, grappling competitors, and hobbyists. Zero BJJ is welcoming to every student regardless of their ability, fitness level, or previous experience. I have witnessed every student step up, and not only welcome the new students, but eagerly help teach them whatever they could. The kids class has grown over the last 3 or 4 years from 6 students, age 4-12, to over 41 students. With self defense as the primary goal of the kids class I have watched the kids grow in ability and confidence daily.
Professor Mike Oberdick and myself have been team mates for over a decade now and nobody in the area comes close when it comes to expertise and excellence in the instruction of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Simply the best place to train. Mike is an amazing instructor. He is a natural teacher who loves to share his (extensive!) knowledge with patience and kindness. He takes joy in each student’s success whether you train to compete at an elite level or simply want a great workout like me. I’ve gained so much confidence from my time here. I was nervous starting out as a woman but I have been treated with nothing but kindness and respect since I have stepped through the door. There’s a core group of ladies here who are super supportive!!
Training here has been amazing! The technique is always 🔥 and the instructor(s) are so attentive and knowledgeable, always keeping good, clear energy in the room. There are a lot of female students that consistently train here and seeing that in a male dominated sport like jiu-jitsu speaks volumes about a school, in my opinion. Everybody helps everybody here. Zero BJJ has the recipe for turning you into a healthier, more confident and (honestly) way cooler version of you that you probably didn’t know was in there. The students are awesome, Dickie is the sh*t and the vibe at Zero BJJ is unbeatable.
If you’re in the area and looking to start or continue training Brazilian Jiu jitsu, then Zero is the place for you. High quality training, an extremely attentive and experienced instructor (Professor Micheal Oberdick), along with very welcoming and helpful teammates. Zero Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the most porrada school around and you definitely won’t regret checking them out.
It doesn't matter what your looking for. Lose weight, improve athleticism, face your fears, learn how to defend yourself, to gain confidence, to meet an amazing group of people, to be humbled, or even if you have just stumbled upon what jiu jitsu is and wanted to try it out for yourself, THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE.
Absolutely a diamond in York. When I’m there I have always felt totally comfortable and accepted, especially as a woman in the sport. If your coming for self defense, competing, or for just a good workout, they got it. If your willing to put in any effort at all, you will receive that back ten fold from dickie (Mike). If someone new comes in there is always someone jumping at the chance to say hello and welcome people in. Every single student encourages the next, the vibe is so amazing there. 10/10 ✌️
I highly recommend Zero BJJ if you are a new student or a visiting student. There is great energy among the students and Professor Mike has outstanding knowledge as well as every single one of his instructors. The classes are fun and also intense for every level athlete, from the professional to the hobbyist. The professor does a phenomenal job in understanding what you are striving for and in his ability to help you achieve those goals and more. The atmosphere of the gym is open and collaborative and I couldn’t imagine a better place to train.
Excellent instruction and family friendly. Has only changed my life for the better!
I train here, my wife trains here, my kids train here. It's been a great experience. ZeroBJJ is fantastic. There is a reason why it's growing so much. I've been to other gyms where I felt I wasn't needed; where I was simply in the room taking class but not part of the group. I've never felt that here. from my 1st day as a white belt I felt valued as a student and training partner. All 3 of my kids train here. I can't say enough good things about this place. They are all different levels and different ages. My youngest is undersized but loves the kids class. It's physically demanding, mentally challenging, and gives them an opportunity to be creative. Class is always available so it's great in between seasons of other supports. The instruction is high level and there is a culture of respect for everyone who walks in the door, whether its your first day or your 10th year. Everyone who trains seems willing to teach what they've learned and it raises the level of the entire school. Plus I'm less fat now.
Everything you are looking for in a BJJ academy. Great staff and great team.
I was a transfer student from California. I was worried about finding a good quality gym that made me feel welcome. So when I found Zero I was more than happy, I was ecstatic. The coaches here really take the time to listen and provide great feedback to help your game. No matter if you are a high profile competitor or just someone you enjoys learning a new martial art this gym is for you. Please do yourself a favor and go try out a class, I assure you that you will not be disappointed.
This place is wonderful. Ownership is great. The remodeling looks awesome. Coaches are very patient with the kids classes. Everyone is friendly and welcoming.
Great school for the entire family to learn jiu-jitsu or kickboxing, Terrific instructors and top notch kids class that teaches them jiu-jitsu and life skills.
Zero Bjj is a great school. Top notch instructors and everyone is willing to help each other out.
Great people! Everyone is eager to help you improve.
This is a great place to come and train. My son actually started first, and subsequently talked me into coming as well. Now my whole family trains here. The instruction is excellent - a great balance of basic and advanced topics, with instruction on jiu jitsu for sport and self defense. The kids classes are excellent, and have been a huge part of both of my sons' development. The atmosphere is what really makes it. Everyone is respectful of your goals. Pushing 40, I have confidence that my partners and instructors will watch out for me and be respectful of my goals and level of intensity, and everyone is there to make each other better. Jiu jitsu has been one of the most positive things in my life, and we could not have found a better place to train. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
Best BJJ school in the area. Great coaching and training partners
This place is like a second home to me.You couldn't ask for better training partners, and coaching. I've been training with most of these guys since 2011. They have a positive environment, to help grow all the students. No matter if you want to compete, lose weight, or self defense, this is the place!
You can't find a better BJJ school in the area. Top notch instruction and competitors.
Great place with excellent instruction for adults and kids!
Wonderful environment, great energy, and lots of support. You cant beat it
Mike is an excellent instructor who's attention to detail has made quick improvements to my skills. He also fosters a positive, friendly environment which makes learning fun.
The camaraderie and friendship you’ll find here second to none, not to mention Mikes instruction is the BOMB son!! Don’t be afraid to stop in and find your new obsession.
Best instructors. Best people. Best competitors. Best atmosphere.
I stopped into Zero BJJ while visiting York for work. I will be in town a few times a year and I am for sure returning to Zero. I had a super positive experience. Everyone was extremely nice, welcoming, and down to earth. They embraced me as part of the group and made me feel very comfortable. If I lived in the York area I would without a doubt join Zero BJJ.
I have been part of this team for a little over two years. I've attended previous schools and I find this to be the best. The camaraderie amongst the coaches and teammates is unlike any other school. I strongly recommend Zero Bjj to anyone who is thinking about learning some jiu Jitsu or stand up. It's impossible to find the skill set Mike and Dickie (Michael Oberdick) have to offer around central PA.
I've been a part of this program for a little under two years and absolutely fell in love with it since the month I started it. The coaches are great at explaining and teaching for both jiu jitsu as well as standup.. If you are in the area or looking for a jits gym to be a part of or try out I'd definitely tell you to give it a shot, you wont be disappointed.
I had the pleasure of training and then being trained by Mike Oberdick for about four years. From day one, he along with Daniel Beleza helped me fall in love with the sport of BJJ. Mike is an awesome coach. I recommend him to anyone looking to get into BJJ or MMA.
Wanted to be fair about this review. My children and I worked with them since before the new place & after. I found them to lack integrity. To speak poorly of students & families, but never to them directly. To not welcome sharing skills with others. That's my experience.
