Great facilities, great staff and people. What is there not to like. Go there to play badminton and it never disappoints. Always clean and never let's you down. Highly recommend you give a go there with any sport of your choice.

Great facilities, with staff that are friendly and approachable. Plenty of cardio machines and weights and a great running track. The changing rooms and toilets are always very clean when I've been there. A very good set up and I'd highly recommend them. If you are after a personal trainer, ask for Roma. She is fantastic.

Hi. I am interested in joining this Gym. I read a review below that said though overall the gym was fine - that it was difficult to find a free or unbroken locker. An employee said that they would pass this information on. 1. Had the locker situation been improved or resolved. 2. I would like to suggest that when an issue is raised - that there is a follow up. Best William

UPDATED: Honest review of my personal experience at Sports Center after 5 months. I love gyms and visit almost on a daily basis. I appreciate a good gym culture that is cultivated by the management, staff and frequent gym visitors. I'll describe good and bad sides and a lot of it can be subjective due to the fact that I've been able to compare this one only with Sports Village ( owned by them as well). Pros: 1. the students get a discount at the beginning of the academic year, I've paid around 230 pounds for 12 months, which is an okay deal. Slightly above average for "gym only" experience. No free group classes or pool, sauna, etc at The Centre compared to the Village. 2. Close to Wentworth college campus. It's a five to ten minute walk from Wentworth collage and it has parking space. 3. They have two locker rooms, always half empty and you're normally alone in the mornings and late evenings from 8 to 10. 4. Staff is friendly and attentive. Email communication is perfect. 5. During the day they'll assign someone to wipe the seats, mirrors and toilets in the locker room. 6. Recently the music was good. Cons: 1. You have to buy an actual lock 🔐 to be able to close your locker. The lock costed five pounds or something or you can bring yours. I've been to hundreds of gyms and it's the first time I see such thing. 2. This might be a cultural and social behavior, but it's strange for me to see extremely bad hygiene of student visitors. I saw students working out while covered in mud, others vomiting on the floor of the locker room, some really stink working out without shoes on. (a lot of students would take their shoes off while heavy lifting, and boy that stinks so bad. It's a rack of stinky socks you're smelling all around. It seems it's a norm as some would enter the gym without sports shoes on or completely dirty covered in mud). But I can see how gym is trying to fix and fight with that, it might be the high number of undergraduates, that is the most demographic of visitors. At Village I could see more mixed demographic when had a chance to visit couple of times during Christmas break of Sports Centre. 3. Another issue is with bags and clothes of visitors thrown all over. Despite the notice , a lot of people would "make their spots" at the platforms by throwing up their clothes. Some people would keep the equipment vacant for minutes, some would stay for an hour making certain equipment unacceptable while they're scrolling the phone. They would chat for minutes and when you try to approach they would say it's busy. 4. You can't access the gym on Sunday morning if you're heterosexual male , because apparently there are hours for non binary people. how do they check if someone is a non binary? Apparently there were females working out only. Very strange and artificial agenda. 5. Sometimes the heating is not on, so I had to put on extra layers while working out. 6. you can't move your shower and the water is directed to one angle only. Some showers are ok the others are bad with water temp and flow. 7. If you go there on a daily basis you'd notice that the same playlist is being played on repeat

A summary of how I feel about this gym after frequently attending for the past 6 months. The good: Lots of equipment for olympic lifting and powerlifting. Platforms and high quality eleiko barbells. No doubt they cost a fortune and I appreciate the gym for putting in the funds. There's a water cooler too at the very least. The Bad: Unfortunately, suffers from the problem of not having any mirrors in the weight lifting area. I understand that one should know how to do the exercises before attempting to do a squat or deadlift but it helps if there were mirrors by which one could check their forms with. Staff are sometimes disinterested with their jobs. This first time I tried signing up, I didn't feel welcomed into the gym and it felt like I was just a nuisance. I go with my gut feeling a lot and so far, I haven't been particularly happy with how things are run here. I also don't get why they have some sort of dislike towards gym bags brought into the gym. I keep my fatgrips jump rope and elastic bands in them and it seems stupid to ban these things in the gym. Am I supposed to grow another set of arms so I can carry everything without a bag? Management is clueless on how to carry its job. All in all, its great if your focus is on powerlifting and olympic weighlifting, but if your goals are just to maintain fitness, you're better off probably at Swift Fitness York or Ebor Fitness. And they don't cost as much and are open for more days in the year than this Sport Centre. You know what, as of today I'm joining swift fitness. Waste of my time being here in this gym
