Despite being massively into the gym I almost would say I struggled at finding a gym which I really felt comfortable in, somewhere that I could go everyday, crack on and always have a good time. At DNA MMA otherwise known to me and many others as Dustin’s gym, it’s a place which I love going to do my workouts and being innovative with functional workouts, always chopping and changing what I’m working on from one day to the next. I feel the format of the gym allows you to do that. Within the gym there is not any specific set machinery like your Gym Group and Pure Gym. This is a classic free weight and functional multi-purpose gym with it’s MMA classes happening on the floor below. Always a great atmosphere with great people. He also provided discounts for many Sports teams within University to ensure you have a dedicated place to be able to do group training sessions or 1-1 gym sessions with some of the amazing Personal Trainers on offer. I could not recommend this gym enough!

I have been having an absolute blast at DNA MMA. As a beginner, I have felt immediately welcomed into the warm environment by Dustin the trainer on my first day. The MMA sessions have been a great balance of challenge, learning and fun. If there is anything that wouldn't quite make sense for me as a beginner Dustin would always give a helping hand. The other experts at the MMA gym are also really welcoming and patient with beginners. For people that already know mma Dustin is good at reading the room and bringing in some optional more advanced skills. My wife has also joined me for a few sessions and found it great! I would highly recommend it for any women looking to learn self-defence in a safe and fun environment. Would highly recommend! Will definitely be coming back!

When I first moved to York two months ago, I didn’t know anyone, so I thought that joining a martial arts gym would be a great way to meet people and get involved in the community. After a quick Google search for MMA gyms nearby, I was immediately drawn to DNA MMA due to its impressive 5-star rating. Intrigued, I decided to visit the gym on the same day I arrived in York. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly welcomed by Dustin, the coach, who greeted me with a smile. He took the time to explain everything about the gym and patiently answered all my questions, which I really appreciated, especially since I had never practiced any form of martial arts before. Dustin’s welcoming and professional attitude made me feel comfortable, and I decided to try a session before fully committing. My first session was an eye-opener. I was truly amazed by Dustin’s extensive knowledge and his dedication to coaching each person individually, regardless of their skill level. The more experienced members were incredibly supportive and treated newcomers with respect and encouragement, which made the experience even better. Now, after two months of training at DNA MMA, I feel stronger and healthier, thanks to the incredible cardio workouts at the start of each session. But more importantly, I feel like I’ve found a family here. The friendly atmosphere and positive environment are infectious, and I find myself eagerly looking forward to each session, even on weekends! Joining DNA MMA has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Not only have I gained strength and improved my health, but I have also found a welcoming community that has made my move to York much more enjoyable. I highly recommend DNA MMA to anyone looking for a supportive, knowledgeable, and welcoming martial arts gym.

The real question is when to start? The DNA MMA experience is a welcome all community for martial arts and fitness fully equipped with their own cage… unlike a ring you can fit more people inside sharing the unique experience. Above this level is the functional training space with all the most efficient and effective equipment to further your development and improve your performance not only through intensity and strength but the efficiency of their state of the art equipment. Honourable mentions to the team running the show. Both Dust and Lily are both excellent hosts and do an excellent job of providing an individual experience whilst warming you into the community of people who share the same growth mindset ethos.

Dustin and his gym DNA MMA is outstanding in every regard. Earlier this year I was assaulted, punched and threatened while walking my dog - This very badly affected me as I already struggle with PTSD and anxiety as a veteran. I got in touch with Dustin to help me improve my self defence - he was understanding and supportive from the outset and provides a warm, friendly and positive training environment. I'm so glad I joined and it's helped me immensely recover and start to feel OK again when I go out. Whatever your reason for wanting to learn a martial art or be able to defend yourself - I commend DNA MMA and Dustin to you without reservation.
