Dropped in forecommends! Jiu jitsu classes, and they were fun! Knowledgeable instructors and very friendly atmosphere that would make any visiter feel at home. Highly recommend!
Posted 1 year agoI took advantage of the free class for my 12 year old son. He was begging to be signed up before the class was over. Barry and his instructors are very welcoming and informative. Very family oriented atmosphere. We have now been with the team for 30 days and don't see an end in sight. Can't wait to see where this journey takes Hunter.
We absolutely LOVE taking our kiddo here. Coach Barry is patient and takes time to slow down and make sure everyone knows what they are doing. If you are looking for a martial arts program for your children look no further.
This place is a great place to go if your looking to learn or improve your fitness or Jiu-Jitsu. If your new the people there will work with you. This is a place you will feel comfortable and welcomed by everyone there. Don't hesitate to try them out if your looking to take that step.
Fantastic place. They really focus on fundamentals. Great for all ages.
A big thank you for an incredible experience at Tri city jiu jitsu! The team there is nothing short of amazing—packed with knowledge, skill, and a genuine passion for growth. I’m beyond grateful for the warm welcome and can’t wait to embrace this new chapter of learning and progress. Here’s to building strength, skill, and community together. Let’s roll! 🥋🔥 -Dusty
Great gym with friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Started going to this club a month and some change ago. In the past and as of current I've been dealing with anger and depression; which in the past have cost me jobs and many relationships. This is my first time take muay thai/kickboxing or being involved in any combat sport. As of my impression I was a little intimidated. However, the coaches and students eased me in and were patient with me, some even giving me helpful pointers. Some of the staff even mentioned how quick I catch on to some of the movement (still a little rusty). The other thing this club has also done is give me a much needed outlet to let off some steam. To be more open to learn from other new and experienced people. To also be patient to help other who may be new to the movements and process. All in all a great club to get into if you are new to mixed martial arts. Friendly and welcoming people. And will definitely whip you into shape. Of you looking for a place to train whether young or older Tri Cities Jui Jitsu Club is the spot for sure. My only regret is not getting more involved in a combat sport when I was younger. God bless yall at Tri Cities Jiu Jitsu Club! Keep up the great work!
I have always wanted to try martial arts training but have always been too scared. Tri cities BJJ has a safe environment and one that is friendly and competitive. The relationships I experienced there are invaluable. I’d recommend anyone that is interested and wants to experience something new to do it here
This is an awesome gym. I came from Ohio on vacation. People were so friendly and competitive. Awesome curriculum as far as drilling and instruction goes. Coach was friendly and willing to help at all costs! Will definitely be back!
14ish years in Jiujitsu I was in town for work and wanted to drop in at a gym. I found Tri Cities and was impressed with the sign up process. The gym was very clean, everyone was friendly, great instruction and solid grapplers. I’d recommend this gym to anyone.
This is an awesome club! I put my 5 year old into Jiu Jitsu, she has no siblings and I wanted her to learn to defend her self and stand up for herself in the future! I can’t express how much more she has received from the program. She has attended for 1 year and her confidence is through the roof. She originally was unsure if this was something she could do and would get frustrated but the coaches Cassy and Rachel are amazing with the kids. The head coach, coach Berry is very involved and present even for the youngest kids, you can see his passion for the sport! They have made many improvements in the last year and it’s impressive to see how far it has come and grown in that time. They also offer kick boxing, Muay Thai, and wrestling. This club is very well organized and is a great group of people. They give a lot of personalized 1 on 1 attention to anyone attending their classes. I can’t say enough about Coach Berry and this club other than top notch and I cant wait to see more at the higher levels and see her compete!
Been going here on and off on Saturdays, amazing class, good teachers/ instructors as well as fellow sparring partners. Everyone is kind, respectful, and get good practice in. 100% recommend going here. It's a great place to learn and although limited I've had a good time, plus feel more confident in being able to defend myself, happy being able to socialize, and healthy being able to put a good work in.

It’s rated 5 stars for a reason. Good sparring rounds and amazing coaches willing to help. Nothing but love for Tri Cities Jiu Jitsu gym.
We initially looked into Tri-Cities Jiu-jitsu to get my 8yo daughter out of the house and off the tablet. She immediately fell in love, the coaches are phenomenal and it's evident in the quality of students they're producing. The environment here is so welcoming and you're treated like a family member from the very 1st day. My daughter talked me into trying a class and I fell in love with the sport immediately. So naturally when a spot opened for my 4 yo son in Tiny Tigers I got him in also. He also became hooked. All 3 of us then teased my wife how she wasnt learning BJJ and we were. The teasing continued until she decided to take a class as well, and guess what? She fell in love as well. The incredibly welcoming and family like environment has really created a stronger bond for me with my entire family. We have a shared passion now, we talk together about our classes, teach each other what we've learned. I feel even more connected to my wife and kids. We love our coaches, we love the entire family at Tri-Cities. It truly is life changing and I cannot recommend this club enough. Take the free class, you will not be disappointed.
Dropped in while in town for work, some of the friendliest folks I have ever had the pleasure of training with. Everyone was fantastic and Barry the gyms owner was welcoming and made the drop in feel like home. Will absolutely be dropping in whenever I am back in the area for work.
Best place ever helped me lots with getting a lot done
My son receives foot therapy in the same building as this establishment. Jennifer was very welcoming, pleasant, and knowledgeable. She offered a no-obligation trial class to see if my son would enjoy it. I thoroughly enjoyed the classroom atmosphere. The instructor had a positive attitude, and the personalized attention made my son feel like he had always been a member of the team. Would recommend to anyone.
Started my son here at the end of may the staff here is amazing coach barry and his crew are amazing with the kids not only teaching them the art of ju jitsu but he also gathers the kids every class to teach them a little life lesson weather it be about being humble or hardworking etc. Everyone there seems like family they really try to make even the parents feel like they’ve joined into their small family as well. I couldn’t speak any higher of the experience we’ve had here so far, and for the price it’s amazing that my kid has the opportunity to train with skilled teachers 5 days a week for such an affordable monthly fee… I would recommend this place to anyone any age group!!! Signed, thankful Dad.
We have been coming here since November 2023 and my son absolutely loves it! Coach Barry, Coach Cassie, and Coach Rachel are outstanding! They do so great with the kiddos! I’ve seen a lot of personal growth in my 5 year old since we’ve been here, couldn’t ask for a better group of influencers and coaches! 10/10 Highly recommend!
Came here from out of state and everyone was very welcoming. Reminded me a ton of my home gym, Hybrid Combat Club. I got some great work in while I was here and I would definitely recommend Tri-Cities to new and experienced grapplers.
Great experience! I was able to stop in for 4 classes as an out of towner. Staff and instructors are welcoming and encouraging. Humble, inviting and professional! Everything you want in a Jiu Jitsu Club.
This is an amazing place for kids to learn discipline, defense and respect. The coaching staff is fantastic and helps build confidence. You can definitely tell they love what they do with these kids!
I’m only in the area for three weeks and I had an incredible experience at this Jiu Jitsu academy! The instructors are not only highly skilled but also incredibly patient and supportive. They create a welcoming atmosphere for all skill levels, and the camaraderie among students is fantastic. I've learned so much and gained confidence in my abilities. I can't recommend this place enough! Tri Cities=⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Excellent gym with great instruction. Very friendly and welcoming environment. If you are looking for a place to train Jiu-Jitsu or thinking about trying it out, then definitely go to Tri-Cities Jiu-Jitsu Club. I would recommend to anyone!
Had an awesome time training and rolling with Barry and his crew. They’re very welcoming and appreciative. I highly recommend dropping by if you’re in the area and need a place to train.
Trained here back in early 2022 Amazing room of people that are super down to earth and amazing training partners Professor Barry has an amazing thing going on and his skill mixed with that old timer strength is a dangerous combo. If you’re in this area, you need to train at Tricities!
Great gym located perfectly near Ft Gregg Adams. Military friendly, especially for those traveling for military schools and need to get some good rolls in. Professor Barry and Company did not disappoint. Thank you for the hospitality and opportunity to train. Oos!
Barry and his team are great! I was new to Jujitsu and I learned a lot in a very short amount of time. Everyone is friendly, professional, and helpful and will always try and make you better. Overall, amazing Jujitsu gym!
Dropped in while in the area for work. Coach Barry and the rest of the team were extremely welcoming and offered great rounds and technique. Would go out of my way to make sure I can drop by anytime I’m in the area.
This is one of the best gym’s out there! Everyone is friendly, informative and respectful to their fellow practitioners! I’ve been here training at Ft. Gregg-Adams and can’t imagine going to any other gym! Barry is one of the best instructors for any belt and you can tell he cares about anybody that is attending a class at this gym! I cannot recommend this gym enough if you are in the area and want to train or are brand new! Thank you for the amazing treatment and the opportunity to train with you! Until next time!
Was only in town for a week. This place was a great gym to drop in and train. The people were very nice and accommodating. Definitely recommend
My girls and I started a couple of months ago here and it's been an amazing experience. My girls ask everyday to go to class. The instructors make it fun and we have all learned a ton.
A true family friendly gym catering to all ages. Instructors are amazing, encouraging, and uplifting. This place has the ability to bring out the best in people.
I am just amazed at this location. Awesome instructors, great location, warm environment to learn the martial arts in. Highly recommend at all levels of training.
My daughter has been attending this gym for over a year and this has became our second home. I have watched my daughter grow, on and off mat, all thanks to the amazing coaches. We absolutely love it here! If you are looking for a great family oriented gym, this is it!
My daughter just joined the women’s class and she is loving it! Everyone there is so welcoming and really calmed her anxiety of trying something new. I would highly recommend this facility.
Such an amazing crew. I was at Ft. Gregg-Adams for 4 months and was training at Tri Cities all 4 months. While being in VA I competed in 3 tournaments. Even though the team had barely met me they had my back. They coached me and helped me train up to all the tournaments. It was a great time with this group and I wish I never had to leave. They are great with beginners and there is a ton of experience going around in the gym. Give it a try! The crew there is very professional and fun. Barry is a great coach and he is very passionate about Jiu Jitsu. One of the best gyms I've ever trained at.
Phenomenal experience. Amazing hospitality by the team at Tri Cities Jiu Jitsu. I can’t not express my gratitude to Barry and his team for opening up there doors and allowing me the opportunity to train while in the area. If I’m ever back in Colonial Heights, Va again, I’ll be stopping in for a class.
5 stars. I was in the area for a few weeks and found Tri Cities online. This gym embodies all the things I love about jiu jitsu: easy camaraderie, great mix of skill levels, helpful instructors, and no egos in sight. If you live in the area or are just passing through, look no further than here. Great option for Soldiers on Gregg-Adams too.
My son has been in the Tiny Tigers Class for a few months now. We both look forward to his classes. It's been such a joy to watch him grow and learn.
Very fun, relaxed family friendly place to train!
great rolls great professor, visiting from BTT Boston and Lynn🤙
Visited from another school while in town. The professor was knowledgeable and the class was well ran with a focus on concepts and drilling. I had the opportunity to train and roll with a range of students and everyone was respectful and technical which reflects highly on the environment. Definitely look forward to attending in the future when I am in the area.
Best freaking place every! Muay Thai is amazing here!
Great place! Great people! Awesome coaches!
“Great learning environment,” my son loves it here. Every class is something new, and he’s making new friends.
Love this gym! Very welcoming environment and it feels like such a family here!
This place has become like my second family. My sons and I all come here and it’s amazing.
(Trucker) stopped in while in town , great place ! Even better teammates! Instruction here is high level! Oss! Till next time tri cities!
I had work for two weeks at Fort Gregg-Adams. I called to inquire about class schedules and prices. Both were great for the time I had to spend in the area. The gym owner, staff, and gym classmates were one of the nicest and most welcoming I have ever met. I was impressed with all. They had an evening and early morning classes which gave me a range of options. If your having to ever visit the area because of work and you do BJJ; you got to hit hit Tri-Cities BJJ. They are the closest to Fort Gregg-Adams. I will return in the future for work and I plan training there again. Thank you Tri-Cities BJJ!
I’ve had the privilege of training and teaching at Tricities Jiu-Jitsu, and it’s been nothing short of a fantastic experience. Under the guidance of Coach Barry, they have fantastic adults and kids martial arts programs. The training partners are dedicated and supportive and it shows in the community that Barry is building. I can certainly say that training at Tricities has helped me improve my teaching abilities tremendously. If you’re ever in the greater Richmond area or stationed at Fort Gregg-Adams, don’t hesitate to try a class. You’ll be welcomed into a community focused on honing their craft and bettering each other.
I’m stationed at Bragg but came to school at Lee and everyone’s been super welcoming when I do drop in classes to keep my training consistent! 5 stars 🤘🏼🥋💪🏼
5 year blue belt here….Dropped in for a class, the owner had a very generous rate. Felt extreamly safe im a pilot so not trying to get broke but also like to put the pace on. Instructor was knowledgeable and able to answer questions. Really enjoyed the training method, the technique was given in 3 parts and each part was “live drilled” for 5 mins. If I was here for awhile I could definitely see this being my home gym.
Has been awesome for my son. He loves it. Thank you to all the trainers.
The family atmosphere is one of a kind. Phenomenal instruction and just a great place to share knowledge to advance everyone’s skill level.
These folks are amazing. My daughter was reluctant to try Jiu-Jitsu but after her first class she's been all in. The positive changes I've seen in her are countless and I'm so thankful we found Tri-Cities.
We’ve been members of this gym for a year now and couldn’t be more happy with the decision to start here! We’ve made lifelong friends for the kids and adults. The coaches are all amazing; there is always someone willing to help another teammate out. This isn’t just a gym. It’s a family. Super special place and we love it dearly!

Whether you're a beginner or an advanced practitioner, you will find everything you need to take your BJJ skills to the next level. The community of students and instructors at Tri-Cities always make you feel at home. The gym is welcoming to people of all backgrounds and skill levels, and you will find that your fellow students are supportive and encouraging. The gym offers regular classes, open mat sessions, and marathon rolls on Fridays which provide ample opportunities to train. Barry and all the instructors are doing a phenomenal job with the kids program as well. 1000% recommend!
My kids and I love learning jiu jitsu here! The instructors are very knowledgeable and genuinely care about their students. I love that this place makes you feel like one big family! We have made great friends here and are learning so much.
We joined in November of 2022 and have found our bjj home! We’ve talked one competition and are registered for our second. My kids and I love it here and the coaches and members are great. Very welcoming and skilled coaches!
I had never trained Jiu-Jitsu before coming here. Everyone treated me like family. I lost over 40lbs my first 5 months. My daughter started coming at age 4, and it's her favorite thing to do. The instructors are great. I can't really put a price on the value it's added to our family.
Dropped in last night. Great class with a very technical instructor. The drills were very detailed with instructor helping individuals one on one.
Truly a tremendous gym with outstanding people! I had zero experience going in and was welcomed with open arms! Would recommend 10/10
Barry (the coach) is a very good instructor. If you used to be competitive and played sports, I highly suggest getting into this. One, you learn self-defense. Two, you get to put your mind to something to compete at and win at. There is no better place than to learn this with coaches that are actually patient and love to see your progress. Whether you’re new and don’t know anything at all or you have experience, this place is amazing. Everyone is friendly and here to help each other get better! I love this place!
I travel for work so when I'm out of town I like to find places to train. I've been here afew times over the last 6 months and had a great experience everytime. The head coach Barry is real nice guy and I get alot out of the techniques he shows. A good mix of people to train with and get alot of rolls in . Even have a wrestling class on Saturday . Also they do gi and no gi which is what I like. I don't like doing only one or the other.
Dropped in while I was visiting family during the holidays. Intended to train for 2 days, but the guys were so cool I ended up goin 5 or 6 times during my stay. Great group of people to train with, very welcoming, and great BJJ and grappling from all the practitioners there. Come train here when by ou get the chance.
Tri-cities is an amazing community of hard-working, supportive, friendly, and diverse people. The coaches are hands-on and knowledgeable with direct access to a network of talented and advanced guest coaches. I came in as a newbie, small and nervous, and have felt nothing but encouragement and safety here. I’d recommend this facility, its coaches, and its patrons to anyone looking to step outside their comfort zone and learn a skill they can use in all aspects of their life.
very beginner friendly, barry is a phenomenal instructor and great at breaking down techniques in ways that are both easy to understand for the new white belts and those who have been training longer.
I love that they are offering the early morning sessions. I have learned so much and feel so much better.
I’m new to martial arts and a slow learner. Coaches are very patient with me and it’s incredible. Highly recommended!
Head coach is a great guy, the school also has a large wrestling influence and I can really feel my game becoming more well-rounded thanks to that!
Good spot, friendly people. Dropped in while I was traveling for work and was warmly welcomed.
Barry and the staff are outstanding! Super knowledgeable and very nice and fun to be around. They also host concealed carry classes there that are very educational and fun to be in. I would highly recommend this gym
Tons of experience inside that room and some of the greatest people you will ever met! Kids love the club!
My family loves it here! We love how everyone works together and helps each other out. Barry has made us feel very welcome and valued.
BJJ gym near Fort Lee. Awesome head instructor, new mats and all kinds of folks in the gym. Very impressed by the youth program especially. Highly recommend.
Awesome place! Barry is a awesome teacher and a very caring person. This is a excellent environment for Adults and Kids to better their knowledge of martial arts along with betting their personal skills as well
My kids love going here. They've only been going for a couple months but they've already learned a lot. Great instructors and a fun and supportive atmosphere.
Great environment, positive attitudes, great place to learn and train. Everyone is welcoming. It’s a blast to be here.
Joining the club has been such a wonderful thing for my son, its like being welcomed into a family. Barry and his coaches are so patient with the kids, taking time to make sure they understand what they are learning before moving forward. It's been a great confidence booster. He is learning invaluable lessons he will carry with him for life.
Great instructors and friendly class. Enjoyed dropping in, will do it again if I'm back in the area.
Tri-Cities JiuJitsu is a family friendly environment that is great for all ages. The coaches are very articulate and competent. Coach Barry and Coach Ray are extremely knowledgeable and have been great working with our son (6).
Great place to train with great people!
Very welcoming environment, detail oriented technique. Overall a great place to train and learn
I can not recommend Tri-Cities JiuJitsu enough. I have never done anything like this before and it was 100% out of my comfort zone. From my very first day I was made to feel welcome & comfortable. I have been doing it for roughly 8 months and now I am more comfortable with self defense and now I have a jiuJitsu family! Come give it a try!
We love it here! Our son has gained so much from his experience so far from boosting his confidence to his social skills to teaching him self defense and how to use his body, he is very pleased with his classes and so are we. From the adult classes to the children's classes, they have all kinds of classes for many ages, I would fully recommend tri-cities jiu-jitsu!
Barry and the rest of the team at Tri Cities do a great job of teaching. Very inclusive and positive environment.
Barry and Tri-Cities Jiu Jitsu Club are a first-class act. I had a very positive experience in this class. Barry and everybody I came in contact with were very polite and respectful at all times. Barry created a very relaxed environment in which to practice and learn in. I would recommend Barry and Tri-Cities Jiu-jitsu to anyone that is interested in learning Jiu-jitsu.
Berry is an excellent instructor and he takes the time to make sure you understand the techniques. The people and environment are very friendly and everyone there just wants to bring everyone up to be better. I will be coming back for a very long time and highly recommend anyone to just come in and get over the fear of showing up and you will love every minute out on the mats.
Wow what an awesome place. I'm so excited that my daughter and I have somewhere to train with awesome people. I'm looking forward to forming close bonds with my new family!
Great place and even greater people!!
I highly recommend Tri-Cities Jiu Jitsu club. Great and fun way to get exercise and self-defense training. They are very knowledgeable, safe, inclusive, and friendly. This place has a good positive energy and atmosphere for people in all age groups and walks of life. Great lessons for you or your children's martial arts journey.
Professor Walton is a great and knowledgeable instructor. I have trained for five years at a gym in Florida and upon coming to Virginia with the military I decided to seek out a place to train. Professor Walton and his team were extremely nice and welcoming to the gym. He taught techniques that I’ve never seen before but will definitely use in the future. I highly recommend this gym and instructor for anyone looking for a place to begin training or as a place to train if you’re new to the area.
Tri-Cities Jiu Jitsu has an incredible atmosphere, what I mean by that is the positive attitude of all of the people who make up the gym. Everyone is willing to help one another, there is tons of respect from coach to student and vise versa and this is an amazing place for men and women of all ages. Self defense, discipline, great instruction and instructors that are hands on and willing to be right there to help you achieve the next level of whatever your goals may be! I would 100% recommend this place for so many different reasons! I’ve lost 10 pounds in a month and I feel fantastic, my wife has even joined with me!!
My daughter has been attending Tri-Cities JiuJitsu for a few months now. She is in the kick boxing class with Coach Ray and Coach Barry!! Both have shown an amazing amount of patience and take the time necessary to make sure everyone understands the techniques they are being taught, while making it fun for children to learn. So thankful for Tri Cities for helping my daughter become more confident as she learns how to defend herself in this world of uncertainties!!
Barry is as good a teacher as you’ll find. Very detail oriented & patient & great at making the complex simple. Do yourself a favor & go train with him!
Barry and his team of coaches are amazing with the younger kids. Not only is he teaching our children the art of Brazilian jujitsu but he is teaching them life lessons about how to be good people and stand up for what is right. Good Morals are important in this facility. Our family recommends this place 100 times over to anyone who wants to start in martial arts themselves or have their children start.thanks Berry
Owners a jerk, and paranoid. Was accused of poaching students. Wasted a bunch of money on merchandise with their gym name on it... Be wary if you communicate with other gyms I guess.
