Huge thanks to John and the team for having me in to cross-train while visiting Glasgow! I dropped in for a Gi class and was blown away by the quality of instruction and the welcoming atmosphere. John’s technique breakdown was exceptionally clear and detailed, and the training partners were highly skilled, technical, and respectful. If you're looking for a top-tier environment to train BJJ—whether you're a local or just passing through—I couldn't recommend this academy enough.

I started at the age of 48 , I thought i was fit until i tried this, and can honestly say one of the best things ive done, i wish i had started sooner, the class is super friendly and John is a really good teacher , he explains everything crystal clear and all the guys help you on your journey , it feels like one big family .
Started with the beginners class a couple of months ago. Our beginners class had people ranging from 17-50+ with different backgrounds and different fitness levels. I had never trained a martial art before, was unfit at the time and unsure if it would be for me. I've found the coaching to be patient and understanding but crystal clear with great explanations - asking additional questions however, is never an issue. The culture is friendly and focussed on learning. You train hard but allowances are made for new people and everyone is a joy to be around - if you're considering doing it - do it! People have also dropped in from other gyms and our coach makes sure they're always welcomed in and looked after. If you're thinking about dropping in or looking for a new type of training that'll challenge you in a positive way - look no further. If you're using the reviews to make up your mind, they are all 5 stars for a reason!
Brilliant academy to learn BJJ in Glasgow. I had no experience when I started a few months ago, but the coaching and support from John and other students have been top-tier and I have learned loads since joining. Great group of people, the training is well-structured, and the environment is supportive and welcoming. Highly recommended!
First and foremost very welcoming, there's so much to think about but you start of easy learning the techniques and switching onto other partners learning from everyone. Fantastic club for all levels and all ages.

I primarily attend the no gi sessions and after struggling to find consistency again after many years I felt really welcome here and have been able to casually continue my training. No drama or politics, people from everywhere welcome and cross-training is encouraged. All about learning and growing.
Posted 1 year agoI had a fantastic week training at Spartan BJJ whilst visiting Glasgow. The classes were challenging yet enjoyable, and everyone I met was friendly and welcoming. The gym has a great atmosphere, and Coach John is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend Spartan BJJ to anyone looking for a supportive and inspiring place to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Highly recommended if you’re looking to get started. From the first initial phone calls through to a year down the line in training, my whole experience has been first class.
