I've tried a few different BJJ clubs, but this is the first one where I felt truly welcomed from the start. Great atmosphere, friendly and supportive team, and top-notch training. Highly recommend!

I have trained at Connection under Scott for about 3 years. I usually train twice a week sometimes more depending on my schedule. Having never tried Jiu -Jitsu and having no real understanding of the history of it, I can in all honesty say my initial reason for trying Connection was the flexible class times provided (primarily during the day at 10am). The timetable was perfect for my needs due to shiftwork. I have other commitments such being a parent with a partner who is also a shiftworker. I knew I could train before and after work and when my child was at school due to the options available. Once I had started at Connection I knew this is where I wanted to continue to train due to the supportive/friendly environment. You are training with people who genuinely want to work with you so you improve. Another reason is the quality of the instruction provided. To provide more context in each class you are provided a practical demonstration of how and why techniques/concepts work by Scott. He learned directly from the source, the Gracie family, who developed the art so you know you are being shown the art as it was originally intended to be practiced. These demonstrations show these concepts or techniques working on someone who is bigger and stronger which is evidence of the effectiveness of Jiu-Jitsu no matter your own physical characteristics. Whilst trying these techniques/concepts everyone in the class at some point during the lesson is given individual attention and focus from Scott as he moves round the mat. This allows you to discuss difficulties you may be having in applying the technique with Scott and it makes you feel valued. What I mean by this is you can tell Scott has a genuine interest in your learning and this enthusiasm/excitement shows when you finally execute a technique correctly during these small feedback sessions which in my view can't be faked. This enthusiasm is infectious and despite Jiu-Jitsu being difficult, it makes learning enjoyable as you also become exhilarated yourself when you finally experience something working correctly for the first time or you slightly improve on something you previously felt you could not do at all. As I said I train twice a week and have never competed. I feel just as welcome and part of the gym as those training day and night 5 days a week who may compete. Whatever your goals are I'm confident you will find what you are looking for at Connection and I highly recommend it.

There is no many Rickson Gracie black belts in UK if you live near Glasgow and thinking about build your confidence or BJJ skills this is the best gym.. Connection Jiu Jitsu in Glasgow is a great place to learn Jiu Jitsu, the head instructor Scott McVeigh has two decades of Jiu Jitsu experience under the tutelage of the Gracie family. There’s kids classes, children’s classes and adult classes and all at different levels too so whether you’re just beginning or you’ve already done Jiu Jitsu previously you’ll fit right in at Connection Jiu Jitsu. There’s also a wealth of Black Black Belts so you’re guaranteed lots of experience on the matt’s.
