Trained here for over a year and the best gym I've been too. Loads of great classes at every level for bjj, no-gi and mma. Coaches are very knowledgeable and there's people of every experience level to train with. Great welcoming atmosphere , and I've never seen or heard of anyone having an issue with this shootfighters. If you're wanting to start fighting/grappling or you have been training for 20+ years, shootfighters is the place to go.
Posted 6 months agoThis place has got 5 star rating out of 205 reviews for a reason. I’ve never been in a fight, in my entire life. Little do I know about MMA or boxing is just from TikTok videos and movies (I know 🤷🏻♂️) . So, I did a lot of research and gave this one a try. My first class, there was no 1,2 snowflake treatment. I was asked to just jump in, watch and learn.(which I think is the best approach to learning martial arts) Very friendly people, they were correcting my form and teaching me techniques. The way I felt while walking home is just indescribable. Sam is an amazing guy, he makes sure the new guys aren’t left out while switching partners. Would definitely recommend 🙌🏻
Posted 9 months agoSheffield MMA Club is fantastic for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, both Gi and No-Gi. I've been training here for 7 months during my master's year and couldn't be happier. Professors are highly knowledgeable and provide excellent, practical instruction. More than the normal drilling, I can train specifically for a certain position skills. During this period, not only the professor, but also teammates gave me invaluable suggestions. As a freshman in BJJ, I got my first stripe in here, which inspire me to continue my BJJ journey. Highly recommend this Dojo to both starters and the skill polishers.
Posted 8 months agoOne of the few mma gyms in Sheffield that definitely isn’t a McDojo (and there are a lot of McDojos in Sheffield). Sheffield shootfighters prioritises you to go in head first and learn pragmatically with the occasional theory instead of having a lecture and a pep talk. This, in my opinion, is the best way as it is how I learned how to do an omaplata. I only did a week of it and learned so much and would continue once I’ve sorted my shoulder out. But ultimately I had fun doing the vast range of areas martial arts that are covered. Staff are supportive and experienced (check out their website) and people there are at mixed levels but welcomes beginners like me. There were numerous occasions where I was corrected by my peers on technique and basics, so don’t worry if you’re new. Would definitely recommend, look at all the reviews there are many and they’re mostly all 5 stars and it’s definitely NOT a coincidence.
Posted a year agoProper good club. Been to a couple in the past few years but this one is my favourite. Great atmosphere, instructors are ace, and all the higher belts/ more experienced goers are friendly and helpful. They also play proper bangers on the aux during rolling too. There's a bit of irony with getting choked out to Slipknot.
