I had such an enjoyable experience at Gracie Barra Neepsend practicing Ju Jitsu in the ladies-only class. As someone who struggles with anxiety, it was a real challenge to even get out of my car for my first trial session. However, once I stepped inside, Gracie Barra took care of the rest. I felt incredibly welcomed and was taught various self-defense and Ju Jitsu techniques, which made me feel empowered throughout and being surrounded by other ladies too. This positive experience gave me the confidence to keep coming back, and now I'm on my 7th or 8th session and absolutely loving it! My husband has been training here for 1-2 years and can't praise it and Gareth enough. Nush and Molly have been fantastic coaches for our ladies class, and we are lucky to have them teaching us.
Posted 10 months agoI’ve been training at gym for a while now, and it’s hands down one of the best decisions I’ve made. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and supportive—whether you’re a complete beginner or more advanced, they meet you where you’re at and help you grow. The atmosphere is welcoming and respectful, with a strong sense of community. The classes are well-structured, challenging, and fun. I’ve seen real progress both in skill and fitness. Highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to learn Jiu-Jitsu in a positive, disciplined environment!
Posted 10 months agoI joined Gracie Barra Neepsend based in Sheffield back in February, and so far, it’s been an incredible experience. While I sometimes struggle with motivation to get through the doors, that feeling quickly disappears once I arrive the atmosphere is one of the best I’ve encountered in any gym. Professor Gareth is warm, approachable, and genuinely committed to making everyone feel welcome and at ease. He engages closely with his students and creates an environment that encourages growth and learning. Coach Josh, who sometimes occasionally leads classes, also does a fantastic job. He’s attentive to detail and always ready to help you refine your techniques if you’re having trouble. What really stands out is the student community in the gym everyone is cheerful, supportive, and welcoming. From day one, I felt like I had been part of the team for years. Without a doubt, I can see this place becoming a second home for me over the coming years.
Posted 10 months agoI’ve been training here for 2 years now and am constantly learning the beautiful art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with each session. Before deciding to join, I was trying to find the right place for me and did a couple of trial classes in different academies and, although this one is not my closest, I was instantly made to feel like part of the family and fell in love straight away. The academy is constantly growing and developing and the curriculum and class availability is flexible to fit my schedule. Whether you’re a hobbyist BJJ practitioner, or an aspiring competitor, there’s something here for everyone. Iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. Posted 10 months agoThis place has such a warm atmosphere. The staff and students made me feel very welcome when I first joined, and I’ve only been enjoying my time here more and more. The instructors are incredibly knowledgable. They are always happy to answer questions and correct people so that they can improve more. The teaching emphasises learning through practicing techniques with a partner, which I find is a great way to learn. Cannot recommend enough!
