I've been doing martial arts for most of my life; BJJ, MMA, and Muay Thai specifically since the early 2000s; training with BJJ Revolution Team off and on since the mid 2000s; and training with Revolution Ashland since it opened. Over the years, I've trained with many different gyms/schools/camps. I love this place because it feels like home. It's a safe space where every class feels like a family reunion.
Getting into the martial arts, especially the combat sports, can be a very intimidating experience. Intimidation is not the culture of this school. The instructors and the senior students are extremely welcoming to everyone - young and old, veteran and newbie, people of all genders. There are no cliques here - everyone is a friend, eager to share their passion for the arts. What most warms my heart is that Jarrett regularly hosts non-profit martial arts seminars, donating the proceeds to charitable causes.
That being said, the instruction is no joke. Jarrett and Gina's Muay Thai classes will challenge your conditioning to the max. The sparring, should you wish to partake, will kick your butt. Keith, our black belt/marine/police officer, will expand your jiu-jitsu game with an approach proven both in the cage, on the mats, and in the field.
To summarize, if you are looking to learn self defense, get into martial arts competition, and/or find an amazing total body workout, in a safe space with wonderful humans, then you'll find it in Revolution Ashland.
