Brian and his team hosted a private self-defense/Muay Thai intro class for our friend group and it was an awesome experience. They were incredibly patient, encouraging, and did a great job breaking down the fundamentals so everyone felt comfortable learning the techniques. We learned a lot, had a great time, and left feeling more confident. We’re already looking forward to coming back for more. Thanks again, Brian!
Posted 6 months agoAfter lots of research we decided on CSC RVA which has been certified by the World Kickboxing Association for our 13 year old son to try something different to the Tae Kwon Do he had been studying to black belt. The owner Brian is really informative and knowledgable in all of the disciplines they teach, which are; Boxing, Muay Thai, Kick Boxing, Jeet Kune Do and self defense classes. Tom on the front desk is really great too. The location offers lots of free parking and is close to all the main highways. They offer classes for children from age five and a half through to adult, and these Martial arts are popular for all ages and genders because they give you a full-body workout, Increase confidence and discipline, Teach self-defense skills, Improve coordination and flexibility, and Relieve stress. They sell all the relevant items that you will need to get started in any of the sports. If you are looking for a small family owned gym where you can get great guidance from former professional fighters to reach the level you want to achieve, this is the one. Our son absolutely loves it, he comes back hot, sweaty and raring to get back there every couple of days. Give it a try, I'm tempted to and I'm 64!
Best technical gym in Richmond. If you want to be a fighter and train like a fighter theres no other gym that compares

Terrific gym with very skilled, and very cool coaches. Highly recommend for any dedicated nak muay. 🥊🦵🙌
Best gym in Richmond, everyone there is friendly with high experiences.
I wanted to try this out after seeing some sparring videos one of my friends shared on her ig. Omar led a great intro class. We got right into it with simple exercises. This is a hard workout!!
I left class today feeling so good. I’ve been with CSC since March and I’ve grown so much! Whether you want to rid your mind of caustic kineticism entrapping your mind or up your cardio and physical fitness, this truly is the place to be. The atmosphere is welcoming and the crew really works with you to ensure not only that you’re doing your best but they are giving their best. It feels great to not feel like just a customer but part of a familial team and I appreciate that. Most times I am the only female in my class (so ladies COME THROUGH!!!! 😁) and the respect and guidance I get from my peers is beautiful. CSC embodies camaraderie and passion for the art and it is shown in the way we are trained and led by our coach. (The superiors are highly ranked and seasoned so trust me when I say that you will be led by the BEST!!) I leave class feeling empowered EVERY time. Feeling grateful that I am achieving what I believe in my mind that I can; happy that I can be amongst men with genuine hearts whom respect me as a female and believe in my ability to be better as well. It’s kinda like therapy really. Mistakes are made. Conversations are had. One takes action towards being better. And then there is growth. And the process repeats. Striving to be better each time. It’s beautiful. If you are in search of a place where you can grow mentally and physically then I implore you to at least check it out. CSC offer a complimentary week trial where you can try each class to see what is best suited for you before committing to anything and you cannot beat that. I would be typing all day about this place so I shall close. If you are reading this, it’s for a reason. So take that first step and I hope to see you soon!! ✌🏾
CSC RVA is the best gym in the Richmond area. I have been training with them for a year and a half and have had nothing but great experiences. Whether, you want to train as a hobby or train to compete , you'll have quality coaching who want nothing more than allow you to grow in your abilities. I learn something new every class and how to incorporate it in already learned tactics/techniques. The gym is clean and the equipment is continously cleaned between usage. Everyone there from coaches, fighters, to hobbyist are friendly and sociable no matter your skill level.

Super welcoming environment with very friendly staff!!!
Been training here for about 2 years now and I love it. Great group of people focused on building your technique and understanding of fight sports. World Class athletes and instructors that are excited to offer endless opportunities for progression for those interested in competing or even considering pursuing a career in fight sports whether it be as a fighter or instructor. I trust this team with my goals as a martial artist and they have yet to disappoint. Love my CSC Family. 10/10 GO SIGN UP.. Punch Something! Maybe Even Me Lol
Great atmosphere. Tough but productive training. Instructors are friendly and professional but their goal is to grow your game not just give you back pats and take a check. Me and my son train here. Definitely recommend for people who wanna train and get better while still living their normal lives.
World class coaching, awesome teammates, great classes. Love every second of training here.
Been training for over a year at CSC RVA. This place is the best in the business! Whether your looking to learn self defense, gain discipline, or just workout - this is the place to be. Highly recommend.
I take the boxing and JKD classes. Cool, laid-back vibes. Instructors are warm and welcoming. Clean. And they know their stuff. I have nothing negative to say. All positive. Don't believe me, come check it out 4 yourself.
I recommend this gym to anyone that Is trying to work on their skill, cardio and if your trying to be in a friendly community. I enjoy going here because they push you to a level where it’s not overwhelming like almost dying but to a level of improvement and that can push you to get better.
Great atmosphere to train and improve your skills. Lots of knowledge, and plenty of sweat equity.
Great service , good training and wonderful staff practicing cleanliness. Im a little sore but hey , no pain no epsom salt🤣🤣🤣 . Five stars and I'll be back soon.
After taking a hiatus from working out/training soccer consistently for nearly a year and a half, I was out of shape and desperately needed some direction. I happened to hear about CSC RVA by word of mouth from one of my friends that trains Muay Thai in the DC area. I decided to check it out. Nearly a month later, I'm so glad that I joined. I found something that I didn't know I needed in my life. It's reignited a spark and an obsession within me. I'd recommend CSC RVA ten times over to anyone (amateur or vet). If you want to push yourself, get healthy and gain a boost of confidence then join up. Kru and Gumby are great instructors and genuine guys. Safe to say I'm hooked. And this will be a part of my life for a long, long time.
This place was amazing the people automatically made me feel like family from day 1 and also trained me to be godly at boxing
Awesome place. Super welcoming and friendly instructors. Gumbi and crew really made the entire process easy, educational and inviting, cant wait to start training here, already have several friends interested!
Best place to train Jiu Jitsu and boxing... very positive, motivated and pushes you to next level. It’s only three classes so far but am seeing some amazing results. GUMBY(one of the trainer) explained me course very well and offered me to try two classes for free before I sign up... very patient and made me understand the training courses and walk me through the gym...Definitely, I would suggest everyone to try there training... u will know
my son and daughter really enjoy the class
Great instructors and great people. Great for women, ladies don't be afraid to try it out. Regardless of age you're made to feel welcome. Challenging but not overwhelming. I absolutely love it here and can't wait to get back in. My husband and I do the Muay Thai and Dutch classes.
Great instructors and very friendly environment to learn in. Gumby was so positive and helpful. This was a great experience.
Excellent place! The teachers are amazing and the environment is very supportive and welcoming.
Started training Muay Thai at CSC several months ago and they have definitely pushed my technique and endurance to a new level. Great instructors. Welcoming to all ages and skill levels. Would highly recommend.
This is THE PLACE - THE TRUE combat sport center where you get to be trained by the most experienced and dedicated coaches I have had a pleasure working with. There is truly no other place like this and only way to find out is to come and experience it your self. THE DRIVE TO SUCEED AND GET BETTER every day is encouraged by motivation, hard work and a lot of sweat!!!
More than just a gym, it’s a family. Great aptomspher, great people, great place.
I've only been to CSC a handful of times, but each time I go I learn something new. I can also feel myself getting stronger each time. The employees are so nice and friendly. They never fail to help you out. I recommend CSC to all!
Csc Rva is the greatest gym I have been to! The staff there is friendly and great! You should come check this place out as soon as possible!
STOP what your doing and come check this place out! The staff is pretty rad especially Gumby (I assume this is a gym nick name) he was my instructor. He kept my class upbeat and taught to my strengths. Each class was different which I liked because who wants the same repetitive class!
Blown away by the amazing staff, especially Gumby! Great atmosphere! I'll most definitely be back!
My son has been going to CSCRVA for 8 years now. He has competed all over the USA and has had the opportunity to compete in the World Championships in Italy and Spain. He even won the Silver metal in his weight class. Their training is intense and provides opportunities for all who want to compete or just learn the fundamentals of Mauy Thai, Boxing, Battlefield Kali, and more. If you want to be trained by the best, then you need to train at CSCRVA.
The goal of every review is to objectively rate an establishment without bias to give someone an idea of what to expect. However, with CSC RVA, this will be tough because I can’t say enough good things about this gym. As someone with absolutely zero experience with a martial art, CSC has been the very definition of patient with me. Teachers like Gumby are knowledgable, friendly, and helpful as they find time in classes to help and focus on all their students. This is very much a community, maybe even a family, that wants everyone to succeed through hard work and discipline. If you have even the slightest interest in pursuing a martial art, I highly suggest taking their two free classes. I guarantee you will be sold. I know I was.
Not a better place to train no matter what level ur at and if u just wanna get in shape its fun exercise
My personal experience with CSC RVA has been the greatest time of my life. I've been training here since February of 2016 and let me tell you that this has been the best year I've had thus far. I walked in with little to no martial arts experience and told the coaches my goal was to start competing and one day be a pro fighter. I've been training Muay Thai/kickboxing, Wing Chung\JKD, and Battlefield Kali. After my coaches felt I was ready I started competing. I have done several exhibitions and have been able to mount a 3-0 fight record in a short period of time. The fight team has helped me to get ready for fights all over the country. We have traveled to compete twice in Indiana as well as in the Big Apple- NYC. Now they are getting me teady to represent our country (US team member) and bring home the gold in the Worlds Tournament which will take place in Tuscany, Italy the last week of October. This is my testimony...I can back all of my accomplishments up with pictures and videos on social media. Or you can see for yourself by dropping by and training with the CSCRVA family. Whatever your goal may be, the staff along with your peers will help you reach them. 10 out 10 stars, that's what I rate CSCRVA. Oss🙏🏼
Excellent training environment, clean and professional!!
Excellent program and trainers...come with dedication hardwork and respect, and it will be met equally.
Right now I am basically starting from the bottom. Coming in and just starting out it is great to see the instructors along with other students showing me everything. I am really having a good time feeling a part of the class even though it is all new, I feel welcomed each time I come in. Thanks to everyone who far, my journey has just started
Great staff and instructors and about there business no games !!!
When I first entered this gym I had a good feeling about it. The focus on pad work and combinations was immediately engaging and practical. I have been here for nearly half a year, and have enjoyed every class I've taken. The trainers are involved in the class and take time to help each student advance in skill. Whether you're new to martial arts or are looking to take a journey towards being a champion, this is the place to be!
Great Training, Quality instructors, and Positive Atmosphere
I started at CSC RVA around December 2015 and the experience has been amazing. The atmosphere is friendly, people are nice and the training is really focused and tough. There are a lot of gyms around that have "boxing" or "kickboxing" that are purely cardio experiences. Not knocking that if that's what your looking for but I wanted to train and learn.....CSC RVA does that. You train beside boxers and kickboxers that are actually in prep for upcoming fights! It's the real deal and I highly recommend it to anybody that like me want to take real boxing classes or real kickboxing classes.
KEEP YOUR CONTRACT!!! I have nvr left a review for anything. My 5 boys were in a yr contract March 2019-2020. MARCH, i was charged. I called daniel & he said the owners will handle my situation once business opens up again. (Pandemic) APRIL, I got charged again. I texted daniel who told me to email him and the owners. I did. MAY, I didn't get charged. I thought it was done but I still haven't heard from anyone about getting my money back. My bank couldn't stop the payments due to CSCRVA having my card on file & was told to dispute the charges. I didn't at the time because I didn't think I had to. JUNE, I got charged again. I emailed them again for an update. Daniel emails me saying my contract was auto renewed. NOT ONCE did this auto renewal come up in the yr of us there or even said to me in Mar. Apr, or May! We go back and forth about this. He asked if I have my contract because all contracts get auto renewed without a 30day notice. I told him I do & there is nothing about an automatic renewal. Daniel said there are 2 different perspectives of the contract. Their legal contract and my interpretation of the contract. To pay for 10mths & threatened to take my acct to collections! HA! I called my legal rep & sent daniel a pic of my copy & told him to show me where does it say auto renew on my contract!!! Looks like MY Interpretation & their Perspective are One & the Same! 😂 Because 3wks later, its July & he still hasn't shown me where but I get an email about a July payment not going through! Instead of apologizing & admitting he was wrong, like a Real Man!! He continued to press me about the auto renewal & concluded that they didn't owe me for those 3mths. I cancelled my card, disputed all the charges, got my money back from the bank, waited to leave a review & left the rest to my Lawyer & my Bank! The stars are for the lessons! My boys learned & had fun.
I cancelled my membership with CSCRVA back in May, but I am still being charged months later despite repeated requests to be removed from their system. I’ve had to dispute these charges with my credit card company. Even before cancelling, I was disappointed with the experience. For example, the 11am “beginner” class was just a bag workout with no instruction, which didn’t match the schedule description. I had originally chosen this gym because it seemed to offer more accessible class options, but the reality didn’t live up to expectations. Between the misleading class structure and the ongoing billing issues, I cannot recommend this gym.
Posted 10 months agoDo not ever visit this gym and do not ever give them your financial information. I am not the only one who has this problem. They stole more than $400 from me due to a glitch in their billing system that they were made aware of. I cancelled my membership in writing per their policy, I paid the last month per their policy. Then, after several months the automatic payments just kicked back in and charged me $440 before they stopped. Several of their representatives told me over and over again that they would pay me back this money and they have not. I have called them 100 times, I've emailed over and over, and I've gone in person about 5 times to try and talk to someone and still no luck. At this point I doubt I'll get my money back because they continue to ignore me and lie about paying me back, but I want to make sure other people don't make this same mistake!
Posted 9 months agoI have a very bitter experience (so far) with CSC RVA that I would like to share, but I will wait for another day, because I have committed to wait until 31st Oct, giving them enough time to be fair and just. Looking at the reviews it looks like others have had similar finance related issues with them. Again, if they act fair and just, this review could turn to be a favorable one for them.
Posted 9 months agoThe worst fighting gym in Richmond. If you’re looking for a gym go anywhere other than this place. I went to one class and experienced the worst customer service possible. One of the fighters told me the Coach/ Owner doesn’t always show up to teach the classes because he’s always on pills. When I first arrived, I waited in the lobby for 15 minutes before anyone walked up to me to sign me in. When they finally did walk up they didn’t know I was coming & didn’t have the beginners class taking place even though I signed up online for the class and arrived at the correct time. When I reached out about a refund, the gym refused to give me one. I’ve tried to contact the owner numerous times with zero response. This is the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had at a gym. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!
Pulled my son from the boxing classes due to hearing racial language being used between a female martial arts student and a female at the front desk. Afterwards they continued to take payments after I thoroughly expressed we were done with the classes. They got severance and then some.
I originally signed up for my membership at CSCRVA back in February 2021. I attended one demo class and made my first payment the next day .When I originally stepped foot into the boxing center I was getting a feel of something I was looking forward to incorporating into my routine. I quickly was persuaded by Daniel to go ahead and sign up for a 12 month membership. At first I was hesitant because like I said at first I was simply feeling it out not 100% sure if I want to commit long term. Upon expressing this concern to Daniel he explained to me that I could cancel at any time so there was no need to feel pressured but to go ahead and sign up for the 12 month instead of paying month-to-month because it’s cheaper. I took his advice and signed up and enjoyed the classes that I was able to attend. Come March, I had some financial disturbances unexpectedly that put me in the position to have to make a decision with whether I was staying with CSC RVA or not . Upon being charged for the month of March that I didn’t attend I contacted CSCRVA just to reiterate to them that I have not been present that month and that I did not want to be charged for a month I did not attend. Also considering I had just got into a car accident so money was extremely tight and transportation was hard. Daniel didn’t seem too happy in helping to connect me to the right people and receive my refund. I quickly noticed this energy and realized that I may have made a mistake signing up with this company. He asked me to do what I am doing now , email you all explaining what’s going on. It has been over two weeks and I have been charged yet again for the month of April that I did not attend. The last time I talk to Daniel from the first payment being taken out I let him know that I want to cancel my membership because I am no longer going to be attending. That respect was not given to me because I was charged again for the month of April. I called back and I am not 100% sure who I spoke with but they gave me a hard time about what I can do to receive my money back. But they also gave me a hard time about canceling my membership. I was told over the phone that I have to provide physical proof of my relocation in order to cancel my membership. I have been a part of a lot of contracts but never in my life have I experienced this before . It doesn’t make sense that I would have to provide physical proof of my relocation in order to cancel a contract because even if I was still in the city I would still cancel my contract due to the lack of professionalism. It seems as though this Company is more concerned about money than customer satisfaction. this is a continuous problem that CSC RVA has had in the past . It’s disheartening to know that during a pandemic a company would continuously rob its customers and refuse to work with me knowing that money is tight for everyone. This is a boxing membership not a 12 month lease . So one would think the company would do its best to keep customers WANTING TO WILLINGLY come back, not constantly cycle through unhappy customers who properly was just looking to have a little fun and learn a new fighting technique . Moving forward I am not happy at all. Signing up CSCRVA feels like a prison . And none of the managers can care less that you’re upset because they are getting paid . Please , pick another place to put your trust in because CSC RVA isn’t it (Not to mention they were so quick to record me learning on my FIRST day in attendance and posted it on their Instagram. As if having a black girl on their page fits the attempt to paint a picture of diversity in their space while having 0 regard for my satisfaction. They also followed me on social media which was fine but regularly watched my stories as if to keep up with me after I told them I was in a car accident and couldn’t attend . One of them even had the nerve to comment the “100” emoji under my story after seeing me post a selfie in the car (As if to insinuate that I lied about being in an accident ... because you see me in a car) Don’t sign their contract
I did this for about a month, but had to quit due to personal issues. Crensaw, who was at the counter at the time, seemed to have no interest in helping me in the process of cancelling and when assigning someone else to do so, pressured him into hurrying up the process and eventually told him to stop helping me. The facility in itself is decent but they clearly are more worried about money than the customer service.
