My son has been going to this jiu-jitsu school, and it’s an amazing place! The instructors are very professional, patient, and great with kids. They not only teach self-defense and discipline but also help build confidence and respect. My child looks forward to every class and is learning valuable life skills. Highly recommend this place to any parent looking for a positive, safe, and encouraging environment.
Posted 9 months agoGreat first experience with learning jiu jitsu. My family took a four-week Women Empowered session this summer through community ed; we had no idea what to expect, but ended up really enjoying our lessons. The instructors were welcoming, knowledgeable, encouraging and respectful— and they made each class fun and non-intimidating. Admittedly, the sequences seemed really confusing at times, so I’d recommend more than a four-week course to feel more comfortable with the art. Would definitely choose this training center again.
Posted 10 months agoAfter doing a ton of research and looking at all the options in the area, I can confidently say that Resilience Martial Arts is the absolute best. We couldn't be happier with our experience! My daughter loves her classes (Women Empowered) and is always excited to go. The whole vibe is super positive and fun, and the instructors are just phenomenal. They've done an incredible job of creating a supportive environment where kids and adults can learn and grow. Seriously, if you're on the fence, this is the place to go. My daughter's confidence has skyrocketed, and she's always excited for her next class.
Posted 1 year agoWe love the experience at Resilience Martial Arts. The atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming, and the facility is always spotless. Coach Alexander and his family are supportive and make you feel like you’re part of their family from day one. Whether you're new to martial arts or have experience, they offer a great variety of classes including boxing, jiu-jitsu, and grappling. It's a place where everyone can grow and feel comfortable.
Posted 1 year agoWe have absolutely LOVED our experience at Resilience Martial Arts from day 1. We started bringing our kindergarten son to help him learn self-control/self-discipline, get energy out/be active and to have sensory input/deep pressure. Danielle is so warm and welcoming and helpful and Coach Alexander (and all the coaches) are so patient, kind and amazing with kids! Our son asks to go and always looks forward to it. We read the Way of the Warrior Kid books and the main character Marc does Jujitsu and this was highly motivating for our son to want to do it as well. We also love the different "chapters" of the year and the positive character traits they instill. Not only has our experience improved physical health but also character within our son and we are so grateful! Highly recommend Resilience Martial Arts.
Alex and his family of instructors were extremely welcoming to my new grappler in the family. I like that the lessons incorporate respect and making good decisions. My 7 year old son was hooked from the first game of modified “dodge ball” and learning his first take down move. Thanks for inviting us into your gym family. Let us know how we can help you continue to succeed and make strong athletes!!!
Outstanding Jiu-Jitsu, amazing coaches, and very welcoming. The community and culture here is second to none. We highly recommend!
Visited from out of town and they were extremely hospitable and eager to let me train with them for a few days!
As a parent it has been amazing watching my kids build their self confidence, develop a passion, drive, and focus that they are able to use on and off the mats. This is all thanks to the excellent teachers and atmosphere at RMA.
This place has been a wonderful experience for our 10 year old. His confidence and behavior have improved. They show a lot of patience with the kids.
My daughter attends jiu-jitsu class at resilience martial arts. While she is relatively new she loves the classes and feels welcome and comfortable with the staff and participants. The process to try it out is very easy and low pressure. The staff are friendly and responsive to questions. The facility is clean and spacious with a fantastic mat floor in the training area. My daughter loves the classes and is always excited to go.
My daughter has really enjoyed the classes, she also has met amazing people the as well. This is run by a very sweet family, they get the chaos of family life and are very accommodating!
I really like this place! It has good coaches and it is good classes :3
Resilience Martial Arts is a welcoming and family friendly place. Danielle and Alexander are accepting and accommodating and helped my son find the best class for him and now he is excelling. The style of Jui Jitsu that is taught here teaches you the basics before you move into grappling and is both mental and physical. After watching for months, I am now practicing as well!
Both my girls love the classes here. It's a great community and wonderful way for both of them to gain confidence to stand up for themselves and protect there boundaries.
My son has been a student here for almost a year now, and it was one of the best decisions we ever made for him. Amazing classes with even better instruction. All of the instructors here are amazing with their students, and extremely knowledgeable. If you are looking for Martial Arts classes Resilience can't come with a higher recommendation.
Our family is completely new to Jiujitsu or any martial art. We signed up our two daughters, 6 and 8.5 for the 10 day free trial and knew from the first time, that’d we’d continue. The coaches here are AMAZING!!! Everyone has been so kind and welcoming. You can jump in at any time and the coaches work with each individual kid and expect the older, more experienced kids to lead and help out, which they do with excellence. The at-home tracking sheet for each chapter earns points for a special Game Day, and that has been great for us too. Our girls are loving it and we can already see their confidence, control and self-discipline growing. We can’t recommend them enough!!
Resilience martial arts is a fantastic gym! I attend the adult jujutsu as well as my two sons attend the Bully proof kids jujutsu. The Bully proof program Is really great because not only teaches confidence helps the kids exercise but it also teaches them conflict resolution.
My wife and I have been training Muay Thai with Coach Blake and Coach Alex for nearly a year. As experienced martial artists, we are impressed with the quality of instruction. RMA balances technical detail and rigorous exercise while maintaining a welcoming, friendly culture without the aggression you might find elsewhere. Beginners are well taken care of and feel at home after just a few classes. We've enjoyed our time at RMA so much, my wife has added the jiu-jitsu program and I have begun Taekwondo under Master Won, who is another top-notch instructor that I can't recommend highly enough. Lakeville is fortunate to have such a high-quality studio!
Highly recommend. My son and I take part in both the combatives and bully proof program and have enjoyed the last year thoroughly.
The coaches at RMA are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. I am all about practical and functional physical activity, and what they’re teaching just makes sense on the mat and off mat. We enrolled our 6 and 8 year old boys in jiu jitsui to gain confidence, but I didn’t expect them to be having so much fun. They are learning how to engage bullies and strangers, how to resolve conflict safely and neutrally, and how to find their voices in a loud world. We have loved the program so much that I myself have signed up (I need these skills in health care and enjoy getting the exercise and knowledge); we will also be enrolling our youngest daughter in the program on her next birthday. Heartily recommend this kind, encouraging, challenging program!
RMA is exactly what my wife and I needed. Phenomenal staff, clean and safe gym and equipment, something for all skill levels, welcoming to all ages, and a dynamic and engaging training environment that drives each member to become the best version of themselves. Great program for kids. No pressure to compete. No black eyes or bloody noses. 10/10
I love love love RMA! This gym has grown so much in the last year, it's a real testament to the dedication of Coach Alexander, Danielle, and the whole team. I started in September as a middle-aged guy having never done any martial arts. The Combatives program is perfect for me as you learn the building blocks of good BJJ, especially for self-defense. It's fun, you can see progress every week, and the goals are clear and achievable. Highly recommend!
Whether you're a seasoned veteran in the MMA world or just starting out, this gym is the perfect place for you or anyone. RMAs amazing instructors pay meticulous attention to detail and prioritize the safety of all members. The atmosphere is friendly and secure, providing an excellent foundation for anyone eager to improve their MMA techniques. You will always leave with more than knowledge than you came in with. They also maintain great cleanliness throughout the facility at all times. 10/10 would recommend!
I've been training Muay Thai with Coach Alexander and Blake for 8 months. Having trained in Karate, Taekwondo and Jiu Jitsu at various places over the past 15 years off and on, this is hands down the best place I ever been. Everyone is respectful, caring, no pressure, go at your own pace and will give you the one on one time to help you improve even during a large class. Added bonus, it feels clean! I do believe the price is reasonable especially for the time and effort the owners and coaches have put into making sure you have a great experience. Be prepared to be challenged, pushed to achieve your best self, along with a great workout. Forget everything you thought you knew about Martial arts, have a open mind and help your teammates and you will fit in great. There is absolutely no need to feel self conscious when you walk in the front door. I'm sincerely looking forward to signing up for another year and expanding my skill set.
Train at this gym multiple times a week. The owners (Alex & Danielle) are very knowledgeable and run their gym very well. Would recommend.
Excellent instruction, welcoming atmosphere, clean and beans new facility. Honest owners.
Had a great first experience, very welcoming 🙏
This place is awesome and has excellent coaches. Our kids love it.
I normally train at a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu studio in Maryland, but I visited Resilience Martial Arts while I was in Minnesota over the holidays. Danielle at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, and Alex, the instructor, was welcoming and provided excellent, personalized training.
Great place to learn and train. I’ve been in and out of martial arts for 25 years and am really enjoying my time at RMA. The Gracie jiu-jitsu training is exceptional, the rolling is safe, and the gym has a great culture. Thank you Alexander for bringing top-notch training to Lakeville!
Coach Alexander and the entire staff does an amazing job!
My son participated in the 10 day free trial with Resilience Martial Arts and the Gracie Jiu Jitsu Building Blocks Grapplers (3-5 year olds). He LOVED it. Alexander & Danielle (the owners), are very welcoming, but more importantly, they did a great job with my son and the other kids in the class. They made it fun, they kept the attention of the kids, and they made Jiu Jitsu relevant for 3-5 year olds. They made the gentle art relatable. If you are looking to get your kids into Jiu Jitsu, Reslience Martial Arts is a great place to start!
I switched to Resilience when my martial arts school closed. I was immediately impressed by several things: how welcoming everyone (instructors and students) at Resilience are, how well thought-out the facility is (for instance, there are no seams in the mat to stub your toe on), and how good the training is. I never go away wondering how the technique is supposed to work, or trying to figure out how to learn it. The teaching is carefully worked out so that you *will* understand the technique every class. Most importantly to me (being past my physical prime) is that there is a constant focus on safety. I don't ever fear going home with an injury. Lastly, the atmosphere is non-threatening. I would feel comfortable recommending it to anyone - man, woman, or child. They won't yell at you or make you feel inadequate - they'll walk you through step-by-step and make sure that you understand the material. I am really hard-pressed to think of anything to improve. If you are interested enough to read this far, do yourself a favor and stop in for a free class.
I’ve been a member of Resilience Martial Arts for four months now as a student of the Gracie Combatives Jiu-Jitsu program and I’m loving it! Every single class has been SO much fun. I enjoy the curriculum, I like that the techniques do not rely on the gi and are designed to work against a larger opponent. Coach Alexander brings a ton of knowledge and experience. He does a great job explaining and demonstrating the techniques as well as encourages questions. Coach Alexander and Danielle have created a very positive and supportive environment; they’re always very welcoming and friendly. The students are as well, very nice and respectful….we usually all enjoy a couple laughs each class. Super clean, nice facility. This has been a great thing for me, I can’t wait for the next class!
Super fun, the coaches are really helpful & everyone there is nice! They push you to your limits and make you want to come back the next day! Highly recommend!!!
Marco is an amazing mentor and has helped push me to become a better version of myself!
I am new to martial arts. The patience, guidance and compassion from all the coaches has been amazing. They meet you where you’re at in your martial arts journey and conform their coaching style to best help you understand and learn. They are AWESOME with the kids as well!! It is a true martial arts school with very humble students and staff. RMA is a family owned facility and treats each of their students as a member of that family. Cannot thank them enough for this experience and I am excited to see where this journey takes me!
Such high recommendations for this gym! The coaches are very welcoming and approachable. The classes are non intimidating and fun. The gym itself is well kept and clean. They have some high quality, soft, and seamless mats!
Started with them when they opened on training day one. Fantastic people who are also great trainers. They go above and beyond every day. The gym always has a great family vibe. Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai training have been game changers in my life!
I was hesitant to sign up for jui jitsu, so I asked to observe a class. I saw that all the students were treated with respect and that there were no ego’s on the mat. I was intrigued enough to register for the free 10 day trial and ended up signing up after the 2nd class. The instructors are amazing! The facility is amazing, and the community is amazing!! Highly recommend RMA!! So glad I signed up!
Great instructors, welcoming environment, and excellent curriculum. My son and I have loved the BJJ experience!
Resilience Martial Arts truly stands out as an exceptional gym. The owners have a clear commitment to creating a family-friendly atmosphere that provides top-notch Gracie Jiu-Jitsu instruction, suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners. The various class types and flexible scheduling options have made it super convenient for people like me with busy schedules and school age kids. IMHO what truly distinguishes Resilience is its remarkable team of instructors. Their expertise is matched only by their friendliness, and every class has been fun and engaging. It's evident when you walk in the door... you get that vibe... Resilience is not just a gym but a vibrant community. Having experience at various martial arts gyms in MN, VA, and DC, I can confidently say that Resilience Martial Arts is the best I've ever been a part of. Whether you want to learn practical street self-defense, continue your BJJ journey, or hone your MMA skills, this is the place to be. STRONGLY recommend it to anyone seeking a welcoming, top-quality martial arts experience. See you on the mat!
I have been pretty satisfied with my experience at this gym. Coach Alexander always does a great job thoroughly explaining everything of why and why not to make certain moves for bjj. Coach Marco is also a great Muay Thai coach and he’ll def make you break a sweat during the training sesh. I recommend both bjj and Muay Thai to anybody and everybody. At least come try it out for free for a few days.
If you are debating on which BJJ gym to join… the debate is over! Resilience Martial Arts, in partnership with Gracie University, is without a doubt the best gym in the state. Coach Alexander is great to work with, has a very thorough understanding of the Gracie principals, and does an excellent job providing instructive and engaging classes. Co-owner, Danielle, is very helpful, responsive, and knowledgeable of all things Gracie. The Lakeville gym is beautiful with amazing seamless mats and more than enough space for any size class. New members always receive a warm welcome and they make it easy for beginners to integrate into the group.
Resilience Jiu Jitsu is Gracie certified, which means they received credentials from the Gracie family. The Gracie family popularized BJJ, and Resilience Jiu Jitsu is part of Gracie University. The instructor, Alexander Brown, is a very nice person, and he understands the University’s technique. This all highlights the expertise of Resilience’s BJJ program.
We can not say enough great things about Resilience Martial Arts. My son just earned his first stripe for BJJ, the coaches here are incredible. It is owned and operated by an amazing family and they truly do make everyone feel like family. The facility is always clean and organized, and the coaches really help teach the discipline of the kids to place their belongings in a straight and orderly fashion. The teachings of the kids is taught for on the mat as well as in public, holding the kids accountable for their actions. Highly recommend!
This is the first martial arts gym that I have tried out and after coming here for awhile now I know that there is no other gym I’d rather train at. I wanted to try Gracie Jiu Jitsu to learn how to protect and defend myself and after only a few months of practice I can already see myself improving. What I didn’t expect was the incredible community at Resilience Martial Arts in Lakeville. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive, turns out that rolling around on the mat together is a great ice breaker. The cool moves and chokeholds are what enticed me to join but the people and coaches are what make me want to come back everyday. If you are interested in martial arts like Taekwondo, Jiu Jitsu or Muay Thai this is the place to do it.
I highly encourage you to check this gym out. My son has so much fun attending the bully proof class's and I can't say enough good things about the Gracie combative classes!
This place is filled with the most professional, compassionate, good people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Would recommend this safe, wholesome, welcoming environment to anyone. They foster the kind of culture that makes you feel like you're part of something regardless of how long you've been a member. It really feels like a home away from home to me.
For anyone interested in learning Brazilian jiu jitsu, this is a fantastic spot and absolutely deserves some good word of mouth. No egos, super clean, top-tier instruction by Alexander and Danielle, and students that really just want to work hard to make each other better. If you’ve ever considered training, this is a world-class center.
We have 2 young daughters that do jujitsu and I can not say enough good things about RMA. The coaches are beyond patient and so good with all the kids. I have loved it so much that I joined classes myself. Whether your have kids or looking for an amazing martial arts school for your self they have it all. Would recommend this school to anyone and everyone.
Still in my 10 day trial but plan to sign up and cannot say enough good things. All the instructors and students are extremely supportive of all new students. Very excited to be part of Resilience Martial Arts!
Our family loves every aspect of RMA. We participate in jiu jitsu, boxing and now trying out their new tae kwon do program. Kind, supportive and overall excellent coaching. Great facility and mats. Highly recommend to anyone even the slightest bit interested.
Nothing but GREAT things to say about RMA!! The coaches, the facility (especially Coach's mats!), and practitioners are all top notch! The curriculums and structure make it very easy for someone on their first day to participate with those on their 40th+ class without either missing a beat. I come from a tenured Boxing background and was used to a "trial by fire" approach to training. RMA is the complete opposite approach with the goal being to provide the tools and structure needed for participants to grow AND excel! That said, I feel compelled to share a real-life situation that occured in a parking lot recently that could happen to anyone. Where an individual was instigating a fight and intimidate another person while with his family (holding an infant with 2 other toddlers present). I attempted deescalate the situation where the aggressor turned his aggression towards me instead. Long story short, this aggressor tried to hit me. Utilizing the simple basics taught in Gracie Combatives by Coach Alexander and Coach Danielle, the individual was detained on the ground without any further incident. No one was hurt, no punches thrown, just a humbling moment for this person. I was also commended by the PD and the family for simply restraining this person. To the point where the PD let him go without charges because, "he learned a valuable lesson today". The aggressor was very apologetic to everyone involved and clearly realized how unnecessarily far he had taken this whole situation. Point in sharing- without the foundation built from just 12ish classes (at that time), the outcome would have been WAAAY different/worse if handled in any other way. You never know what can happen these days. I am thankful for what RMA has provided me in such a short period of time and I am incredibly happy to be part of the RMA family for years to come!! My kiddos will be joining the Young grapplers and Bullyproof classes soon as well! Thanks for everything, RMA!
Very nice facility. Great staff. I consider myself a transplant from many different gyms and RMA has a very friendly gym culture. I believe this gym is going to be a huge hit in Lakeville and I've been referring all of my work friends to train here.
My wife and son are in the Jiu Jitsu, and they just love it! Great coaches and great environment for learning safely. My son and older daughter are also in the boxing class and love that too. Couldn’t recommend them enough. My son just got his first stipe and he is super pumped up about it. Just loves it.
I’ve been doing mma and martial arts for some time now but I have never felt as respected And cared about as a student as I have here!! Both Alex and Danielle truthfully care and want what’s best for their students!!
I am absolutely loving the Gracie Jiu Jitsu program at Resilience Martial Arts. I am brand new to martial arts, and was a bit intimidated to start but Coach Alexander and Danielle have been extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. I always leave feeling that I have learned something valuable and I can’t wait for my next class.
I’m so glad that we signed our three young kids with Resilience Martial Arts in Lakeville. Great atmosphere, and a great coaching staff, and my kids love it. We are excited about their journey with “Resilience Martial Arts”.
It’s awesome! Every time leaving I want to come back for more. Great environment!!
I couldn’t ask for a better more welcoming place to learn Jiu Jitsu. Alexander and Danielle are both awesome instructors. Everything is taught in a very methodical way and I know I’m learning the correct way. I plan on continuing my Jiu Jitsu journey for years to come at Resilience Martial Arts.
If you're looking to learn BJJ the right way, Resilience is where to go!
I am so happy our family joined Resilience MA! Coach Alexander and Danielle make the perfect team! As a female, I really appreciate being able to train with Danielle since there aren't many women members yet. She is so amazing to work with and learn from. While I admit being within close quarters with people you don't know is really uncomfortable, they have a way of coaching/teaching with grace, patience and real life scenarios that help ease you out of your comfort zone. The moves and positions are explained really well so that you know why you are positioned they way you are. I am new to MA and I am absolutely loving it so far!
Amazing gym and owners! The instruction is thoughtful, focused on learning and not ego driven. I am very happy with every aspect of this gym and their philosophy.
Alexander and Danielle are amazing instructors and really take the time and care to ensure you are understanding the techniques and provide a comfortable environment for learning. Our 5 year old started and absolutely loves Resilience MA. The classes are extremely fun and engaging for young and old alike.
Very nice family owned business with great owners.
Super awesome coaches that provide good technique and skills in a solid learning environment
Resilience Martial Arts is one of the best schools I’ve ever trained at. They have a family friendly atmosphere and the training/ teaching is done in a structured manner so you always know what you’re going to be learning walking through the door. As a blue belt taking both combatives and master cycle I can say that these classes are for anyone at any level! Also if you want to learn the art of 8 limbs Muy Thai is where it’s at! Or if you just want to break a sweat and get a good workout instructor Alexander will be more than happy to help:)
Awesome energy, and incredible teaching!
Amazing coaches! Class availability to suit many schedules. I am in the Gracie Combatives program which teaches you 36 techniques in 23 classes for self defense confidence. They even have an only women’s combatives class that piqued my wife’s interest. :) Large mat space that is cleaned multiple times a day! Safe and comfortable training space.
