Absolutely love this gym .my son is 17years old and my daughter is 9 years old they both go. They both absolutely love it !!! love all the coaches. Best place for teaching the kids respect and jiu-jitsu, MMA

My 10 year old son has been training with them for 4 years. Before he joined, we found out a year after the fact that he was being bullied at school (he was in kindergarten) by a kid much older/bigger than him. There were little signs that something was going on, but it took a year for him to tell us. After joining American Top Team, he quickly gained back his self confidence! They do an amazing job teaching the kids self defense, focus, discipline and hard work all while having so much fun! Fast forward to last year: a kid randomly comes up to him on the bus and punches him. My son does nothing, which confused his friends. He knew he could defend himself but didn’t feel like he needed to. So instead, he ignored the kid and told a teacher when he got to school. Now this year he’s starting to compete and is loving it!
Great gym, Great group of guys! They have kids classes, Women’s classes, cages, mma fighters and normal striking/mma learning/jujitsu classes
I was really skeptical about joining a jiu jitsu class, until I saw Coach Dave perform an “Eagle Death Grip Super Choke II” and disintegrated the throat of a rival gym’s coach. Kickboxing’s pretty cool too.
I go there nearly every other day, Great place but a little pricey, but if your looking to learn how to fight and lose weight this is the place to go. I have been going here for about two years now and gained so much knowledge and strength, it's amazing. It's true the owner is a little more strict than usual. But in the end that is the best thing for the kids, to learn how to overcome and adapt to it. The staff is awesome and incredibly experienced. The kickboxing coach Rob is very helpful and understanding. He is one of the more experienced people in the entire state, he came from the striking institute.
I love this place! I have been here since the beginning of January of 2022. I have learned a lot and met a lot of different fighters. Also, Dave is such a GREAT coach, he is the main coach that teaches MMA and Brazilian Jui Jitsu classes. Please give this place a chance if you looking for a place to train. Wonderful place!!!!

Is a very welcoming place for beginners at young to adult ages. The coaches are very good at communicating and teaching to our kids in a way that is easy for them to understand and learn. I would recommend this gym to any other family or anyone in general that wants to get in shape and learn MMA
Top tier coaches and staff. Family friendly for all ages in mixed martial arts and self defense. Everyone in the facility is very nice and welcoming to all. Joining this gym has been the best decision I have made in my life!
I have been bringing my 7 year old son here in his off wrestling season for 4 months now . Mostly to expand his knowledge and to keep him busy I find the place to be great and the coaches to be great. My son thinks coach nick is awsome! I find what they are teaching to be practical in real world applicable as they advertise.
There's something about being surrounded by a bunch of people who are all working hard, learning and present for the same reasons. I haven't felt that experience since my Marine Corps days. The staff are good people and so are the students. This gym exceeds my expectations. Life's full of first steps and it's never too late to begin anew, but a life of no action is a wasted one. So if you're thinking about this gym, you need to make your move and stop in to see it for yourself.
They have a great youth program here at American Top Team. They take the time with new students to fully explain how to do something correctly and safely. Parent communication is great and expectations are clear. The facility is clean, the staff is friendly and welcoming and they even have a playroom for younger siblings. Highly recommend this gym for youth MMA.
If you are looking to break out of your normal routine and use muscles you didn't know you had, while getting in some great cardio, this is the place for you! In addition to conditioning your body in a way you won't get at the standard gym, you learn valuable self-defense techniques. Training here, develops confidence in your self and your ability to defend. With each class you will learn something new about technique and about yourself. There are also amazing classes just for Women and Yoga too! Don't wonder if you should be training here, do it!

I love American top team I give this gym 5 stars and all of my heart . The coaches are great the team is really good . Eric does a good job matching up because he put me to the test now I know (better) what areas I need to work on . Training in martial arts is not only good for me getting in shape but when I train I can find a center of focus and discipline within my self , training is good for my soul . I plan on being consistent as I can for my goal is training 6 days a week . I always look forward to coming to att I would recommend this gym to everyone . Win loose or draw the team is strong and there's a lot more to learn . 💪😁👍

American top team is an amazing gym to train. very family friendly environment the instructors are excellent very knowledgeableof self defense and the head coach is extremely passionet about making well rounded dissaplined fighters. They're martial arts is practicle and relevant in a street fight scinerio. If you are looking to defend your self get in shape or looking to compete this is gym for you.
American Top Team in Savage is excellent! The only regret that I have is that I didn't start training sooner. It's one of the best things that I have ever done for myself. Every day I train I am both humbled and enlightened. -- Everyone here, from the most casual student to the most advanced practitioner, is an awesome person. -- If you want to lose weight and improve your cardio, you will. If you want to learn real potentially life-saving self-defense, you will. If you want to meet awesome people, train together, and continuously learn and improve, you will. This place is great!

I feel this is an excellent school for kids and adults. It teaches kids confidence, boost self esteem, and teaches them to use nonviolence self defense as a first choice. This is also an excellent school for adults, i have lost over twenty pounds while learning to protect my family and myself.

I’ve been a member for over 1.5 years and really enjoy it! Once you attend for a bit you’ll get to know the guys and gals and feel like part of a team. Everyone is very supportive of new people who want to learn and we all have a lot of fun together. Don’t be shy when you come though – my advice is be friendly, ready to learn and jump right in! The other members will help you, and keep in mind we all had a “first day” in the gym! As far as the workouts and training, make no mistake it’s hard sweaty work, but you’ll feel great after class. My favorite part of being a student at ATT is the real life resistance training – this is what separates kickboxing classes at a local gym to REAL self-defense training. Everyone will practice the techniques live with a partner as gentle or as ‘real’ as you choose. Kids classes seem to be equal parts workout, self-defense, and discipline mixed in with a good amount of fun. Kids also say The Pledge of Allegiance after class which is a great bonus if you live in the United States and not under a rock. Adult classes are equal parts workout, self-defense, and a bit of martial arts tradition/discipline. Lastly, if you’re looking for a place to be coddled, your hand held every step, or afraid of an occasional bruise that could happen learning real self-defense, then I would suggest you look elsewhere. However, if you want to learn some great self-defense, get a rockstar workout, and meet some friendly people, come on in!
I joined to get in better shape and learn some martial arts skills. I achieved that and moved to the next level of actually competing which was something I never thought was possible. The kid friendly atmosphere is a bonus for me since my kids can tag along while I'm training and I can train while my kids are in their class.
American Top Team is the first martial arts school I have been to. I am coming up on 2 years and have learned a lot of different techniques since first joining. They have convenient class schedules for morning, night, or weekend. Every instructor here has watched, studied, competed in martial arts for a significant amount of time. One thing I really like is the coaches also know how to slow down when doing one on one training which gives new students like myself with no prior experience a chance to really progress through this sport. They have what it takes to get competitors up to the competition level and also work well with people who just want to train in the gym and don't wish to compete. This really is a great place to start or continue with your passion for martial arts. Everyone gets along in the gym and even make new friends outside the gym when we support each other at fights.
Overlook the bad/wrong reviews and come in and see for yourself. Nothing but friendly staff/coaches/members. Very family oriented facility, knowledgeable coaches & staff. Awesome kid & adult classes full of people having fun and enjoying bettering themselves. Everyone here learns from one another and helps everyone better themselves. Teammates and coaches are extremely helpful and there for you when you need it. I have learned so much since I've been training here and I definitely plan on staying as long as I can.
I love coming here . It is a great group of guys and girls that come in work hard and have a good time. Coach Eric and coach John are as good of guys as you will find in the business. Down to earth and respectable guys who have great patience and take the time with you that you sometimes need to make you better at this great sport! I have come in and seen the end of his practices with the younger kids before the adult classes start . He does a wonderful job and keeps it fun for them. Can’t wait to bring my daughter in for classes when she gets a bit older. Kids classes are always packed!

I have been training at American Top Team Savage for over 5 years. I have looked into, visited, and/or attended many other MMA and Jiu Jitsu gyms in the Twin Cities area. I have found American Top Team of Savage to be the best overall for quality of training, quality of instructors, variety of class offerings, class schedule, and cost of membership. For a great workout and best martial arts training I would recommend American Top Team of Savage!

I was always interested in jiu jitsu and MMA, but, I think, like most people, I had always put it off waiting for "the right time". After a medical issue that nearly cost me the use of my right leg and extensive surgery that allowed me to use my leg again I came to the realization that there is no "right time". If you have even the slightest interest in trying jiu jitsu or Muay Thai or anything else offered at American Top Team you need to try it now! It is worth it I promise and you may discover a new side of your self you never knew. The experience at American Top Team is top notch. Eric and his staff are friendly, they TRULY want to help better you at martial arts and as a person, and the gym has friendly hours and great prices as Eric always is giving out deals and works with people depending upon what they want out of the experience. If you are wondering about the pedigree of the gym Eric is a black belt in jiu jitsu under the legendary Rodrigo Gracie and both Rodrigo and Eric also hold seminars at the gym, which are a blast. The hardest part of the experience is walking through the doors the first time. I have always had amazing an experience with training partners and staff. Everyone is eager to help each other out and it's a family environment Eric has created. I can't give a high enough review of my experience here and how it has changed and impacted my life for the better. I feel like I found the fountain of youth practicing and learning the art of jiu jitsu at American Top Team in Savage. It's not always an easy journey but it's well worth it.
I have been coming to American Top Team for two years and for many reasons. The classes are practical for self defense and you also learn very legitimate martial arts moves that are incredibly effective. Eric doesn't teach you things that don't work, he teaches solid fundamentals of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, muay thai and boxing just to name a few. The workouts you get here are incredible and the people you meet here are awesome. The environment is super friendly and welcoming, making it very easy to come and train. I 100% recommend this gym if you are interested in self-defense/BJJ/MMA.

This is my second month at ATT. I can't imagine a better atmosphere to train whether you are looking to get into better shape or if you are looking to fight competitively. Eric runs a great gym and will push you to where you want to be! I would (and have) suggested ATT to many friends and family!

This has been an awesome place for me to train over the past 5 years. Great place for anyone of all skill levels from beginner to advanced. Something for everyone. Beats running on a tread mill. Get a great work out and learn something useful at the sametime. If you want a place to put in some work and have fun. I would check it out for sure. Good prices. Very knowledgeable staff.
I had a blast striking pads and working with Rob in the ring. I didn't really know what to expect walking into an unfamiliar place full of guys I dont know, but they meet you where you are. Eric and I talked before I dropped in. He took account of my experience, any injuries and comfort level so that helped put me into a more relaxed space. Great workout...give it a try!
Great coaches and not only do they strive for physical health but there is a big emphasis on respect and accountability. I like that they say the pledge for each class. The only downside is cost. It is pretty expensive
In my opinion, ATT Savage is best for those who want to train to fight. In the classes I attended, they were about 80% fighters and 20% "regular people." Chris and Rob are the main instructors and they are great; very patient and willing to teach. Eric the owner uses more of an aggressive approach toward teaching - much more yelling. All of the students I talked to who were learning to fight felt really good about the quality of their training. It is a good workout for the casual person, but the classes are really geared toward people who are training to fight. You will come away with some self-defense skills as well as a few bruises regardless of why you attend. After my 6 month membership was up, I did not renew. Because I wasn't working toward fighting, it wasn't worth it for me to continue. I can get as good of a workout in much more different and less expensive ways. Like most gyms, you should be prepared for a pressured sales pitch when you visit. They will want you to sign up that day and pay immediately. They even asked that I pay in cash, not credit or debit.
I found the owner to be very bitter which turned the place to be highly dysfunctional. I worried about kids since there brains are still forming and the last thing one ever need is an angry man going after them.
I joined and like the instructors very much. Unfortunately the management and ownership team is awful and rope you into paying more then you should. I was told all about a 60 day cancellation at my first trial and was told that I pay the same as everyone else. I found out later that I was roped into signing up for every class when they made it sound like it was one fee to do as many as you wanted. I accepted that and move on to unfortunately break my wrist in an unrelated incident the next week. My wrist is so badly broken that I will need 3 surgeries and a 6 month recovery time. After only going to 2 classes and paid over 300$ I called and told them my situation just to be told that I couldn’t cancel and that they could only do a Max of 2 months hold on my account but I would accrue extra charges and that I needed to send them documentation off all my surgeries for “proof”. This was extremely off putting and not the way to talk to paying customers that never even asked for any money back but instead asked for some grace and understanding. They now text me weekly about my charges and refuse to talk with me about my situation. I would not recommend going here if you are wanting to deal with understanding and accommodating people. I can’t wait to start training again and I originally planned to pick things back up with them after surgery but now I will never give them my business or service. Steer clear.
Prepare to be harassed and scolded by the owner, Eric. He pressures you to sign up and when your membership is up he harasses you with phone calls and emails to sign up for another year. People including myself have been severely hurt during training. I would not recommend even walking in the door.
Said one thing and did another. Told me I could cancel my membership, let me fill out the 30 day cancellation notice. I have text messages that said I could come in and cancel my membership. Then 32 days after I filled out the 30 day notice cancellation form they told me I did not qualify to cancel my membership. They lied and swindled. Now they sent me to collections, effecting my credit. I have documents that cancel my membership. They told me they just let everyone fill out the cancellation forms. I am bringing this company to small claims court. They claim to be a family orientated, but they clearly are out to swindle people out of their money. The owner even told me when i signed up that they don't give out referral rewards because people leave the school right after signing up. This tells me they let other people cancel their memberships. I feel like they are sending me to collections to be spiteful The owner is a horrible business owner and has no compassion for anyone.
