Update: still love it here (Exeter location). Training area is clean, they treat you like you matter, and very focused on teaching in a safe environment. Professor Kevin and his entire team are great, can't say enough good things.
Look no further if you are at all curious about BJJ and MA. Professor Kev and his team of instructors are top notch. There are multiple locations with countless classes to attend and all the gyms are spotless. I’ve never been more fit and clear minded in my life. I wish I started earlier.
I can’t say enough good things about this academy. Amazing instructors, especially professor Kevin. Honestly one of my favorite things about renzos is how family friendly are. All 4 of us train there and we all love it!
First time at this location and felt same as when I went to Windham. I’m a brand new sign up and everyone helped me feel very welcomed. Didn’t think I’d ever do it but if it wasn’t for how welcoming everyone was and understanding of being new I wouldn’t be doing it and loving it. Renzo’s is the place to be!
I have been attending RGNH for a little over half a year steady now. It has changed my life in such a profound way in such a short time. I have lost 80lbs sense beginning at Renzos and it has come off while enjoying learning a life skill and gaining self confidence. For someone who has struggled with weight my entire life finding somewhere I felt being comfortable was the most important factor in keeping with my weight loss. Professor Kevin and the staff including people who attend classes have all been wonderful and made it a place I thoroughly look forward to going. I drive a 2 hour round trip commute to attend classes at RGNH because it has been the best experience I have had at any gym or academy.
Great experience! Really friendly instructors and extremely clean!
Jujitsu is a sport that can be enjoyed at any age. As a non'-athlete starting at the age of 70 I appreciate how the experience is easily scaled to each person's age and fitness level. Aging is mainly a steady loss of muscle mass, flexibility, cardio health, and mental acuity. Jujitsu is unique in its development of all four. Here I can start at my own level and with training progress at my own pace. The team is attentive and encouraging and age or physical condition does not matter. Highly recommend it to anyone, young or old. Will be signing my grandson up soon.
I've only had a couple classes here but I love it, everyone is so welcoming and positive. and everyone ne is willing to help you learn along with them.
Far and away the most welcoming jiu jitsu academy I've been to. Everyone from the entry level to black belts are all very respectful and encouraging. My son and I love it here and wouldn't want to train anywhere else.
EXCELLENT! My daughter had a blast and is a tough cookie and did well. She couldn't stop talking about it! Awesome amazing staff! Honestly I want to also do an adult class!
Whenever I visit the seacoast I am accepted with open arms by Kevin and Brian to come train here. This place is like a home away from home, super clean, excellent instruction and friendly as can be!
I can’t recommend this academy enough! Kevin was extremely welcoming to a student from out of town.
An amazing place to bring your kids to learn in an safe, nurturing and clean environment!
I have been coming here since mid March (about 5 months) and have been very happy with my experience. I have never done any martial arts in the past and have not been "in shape" for a very long time. I had tried the gym bit quickly grew bored and stopped going. Since starting at Renzo Gracie I have lost nearly 25 lbs and went from size 36 waist to 31. More importantly I feel great and feel a sense of family with my teammates. When I started I could barely make it through one class without stopping to catch my breath and chug a bottle of water. Now I do two classes back to back and have even started the cardio kickboxing class twice a week. There are two locations (Exeter and Windham) and I have been to both regularly. Recently I started only going to exeExedue to it being on my way home from work, however we are encouraged to try both any time we want. Kevin (the owner) is almost supernaturally nice. Always a smile and greets everyone when they come in. He takes time to explain things over and over without getting frustrated and stresses teamwork above all else. He is a humble man with a great heart. One of my biggest concerns was jumping in the middle and not knowing anything at all, working with people who have spent years training. Even when sparksp against those with blue, purple, brown, or even black belts the mind set is not "smash this new guy and show them how amazing my jui jitsu is", it's a learning and mentoring mentality. They allow you to practice your escape and defense and will often talk you through things and point out ways to improve.
The culture of Renzo Gracie NH starts from Renzo Gracie himself who is one of the nicest, humble people in the world. Professor Landry carries this through to the organization while passing on the most technical and effective Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I have experienced. The result are academies without negative ego and an environment for everyone from young children to professional MMA fighters and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitors.
Walking into RGNH was the best decision I made in 2017, and it continues to be the best decision I make daily. Whether it's BJJ or Muay Thai, you will be immeresed in some of the best training you can get on the seacoast. Teammates are great, facilities are great (and cleaned meticulously), and there are plenty of options to train throughout the week. I would recommend RGNH to anyone interested in challenging themselves physically and mentally, and anyone with even a passing interest in martial arts should stop by.
It's a great school for kids and adults. I had been looking into different schools in the area, in my mid 40s, for a year after training with Tim Kennedy at Sheepdog Response. I had worked at a previous martial arts academy years ago and this is definitely a better environment! I joined and immediately signed up both my 5 year old and 7 year old. We've been there for 3 months and it is a great school. The kids love it and the instructors are great. They take their time with the kids, and adults, and there are many classes available to accommodate work schedules. Everyone is friendly and it is a great atmosphere. Professor Kevin runs a great school and it is a very friendly, team oriented, environment.
I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but I feel after nearly a year of my son training, and recently signing up my daughter to train, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Kevin and the rest of the instructors. Both my kids have enjoyed training at Renzo Gracie NH and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow within the sport. This place is the perfect blend of self defense and discipline, but also fun for the kids! Highly recommend Kevin and the rest of his staff for anyone looking to give BJJ a try.
Great place to train and great family environment.
I was stranded on a work trip and called Kevin Landry when I had some down time. No questions asked- he immediately invited me to come train and I made the trip. I didn't know anybody, first time there, and yet it was like I was training at my home academy. Instruction was great, facility is phenomenal, and the atmosphere is even better. Can't say enough about this place. A+.
I have been training here for years and there is a reason for that! This place has the best BJJ training out there. It also has a power fitness class for those of you who just want to get in shape. I have personally seen people drop 10, 20, even 50 pounds over here. Both the BJJ and power fitness programs are a great workout. Why not do both? Try something a little different today. I am happy that I did. See you on the mats.
After 5 years of going here I had to lower my rating and take my kids out of the academy. I had asked the owner to pause my kids' membership for 6 months - 1 year as my kids just weren't enjoying it for the last few months. There were huge changes in staffing, class times, students, etc. The class quality wasn't there any longer as more and more people joined and classes became crammed. That's when the problem(s) started. First, I was ignored. Then I kept getting billed. I asked 3 more times to stop the billing and I would think about returning in the summer. I kept getting billed. Finally I gave up on working with the owner and called the credit card company to cancel my card and stop payment from the day I removed my kids from the academy. This process took 4 months to review (by the credit card company) and I was successful, but this is no way to take care of a regular customer with 2 kids enrolled. Unfortunately, this really left a sour taste in our mouth with this academy. It feels like it has become too big for the owner to manage quality and care of customer. So while I believe in this type of instruction and discipline for my children, I can no longer endorse this academy for the aforementioned reasons listed above. You WILL run into the same problems as I did as I've already heard from a couple of other people in similar situations. I do hope the owner and operators take this review to heart because I want this place to succeed but changes need to be made. --------------------------------------------- I had planned on enrolling my kids into a martial arts program so that they could become 'bullyproof'. I was initially apprehensive any martial arts club since I know nothing about them, especially the culture of such clubs. I didn't want a hard-nose tough-guy gym. I wanted a gym that would make my kids confident, self-sufficient (bullyproof), disciplined and part of a 'family'. My neighbor (member of Renzo Gracie NH) convinced me to try Renzo Gracie NH (Exeter branch) as he said the owner wanted a more family oriented atmosphere. The owner, Kevin Landry, is the BEST. He truly LOVES kids. He knows how to press kids while keeping to the training and learning. He keeps the kids engaged and focused - so do the other instructors. I attended (a free) first class and I then signed up my 5 and 3 year old. At the time, the classes were limited. Today there are many more options as Renzo Gracie NH is expanding. My 5 year old has a great time when she's there. After a month, it was a little too much for my 3 year old so we're holding her out until she gets a little older. There was no penalty for withdrawing my youngest. Professor Landry completely understood and accommodated. The place is clean, friendly and recently expanded! All of the instructors are professional and understand the need for self defense, especially for kids. They teach 'defend, control, finish'. My daughter has already used some of her newly learned skills in a couple of different situations (both at recess at school). It has not only piece of mind for the family (my daughter is a little peanut) but my daughter is more confident and will not be bullied. She has also become friends with some of the other kids. This is a great family setting for jiu jitsu. I'm sure it's excellent for adults too!
Shady billing. Canceled in writing on 7/12 and still get charged 8/26. Owes me a month and a half. Then claims it's not our fault it's the payment processors.. Take accountability for your customer service. zero stars and not worth the headache when you want to cancel.
Im Not One For Leaving Reviews But This One Is Well Deserved. Back In March 2016 I Signed My Boys Up For Here For What We Were Told Was A Class About Learing Disipline && To How To Protect Yourself When Necassary. What A Joke. Its An Indoor Playground. The Boys Hated It. He Never Taught The Class He Would Have His Son Do So. Im All For Family But Not For The Price I Was Paying. The Boys Were So Bummed With The Whole Thing. We Went For 2 Months And Stopped. I Paid The $188 A Month For A Year. && Was Told February 2017 Would Be My Last Payment. Well This Month (March 2017) I Was Charged Again! I Contacted The Owner On Saturday And Was Told He'd Look Into When He Was By His Computer. I Didnt Hear From Him For 4 Days! Well Sadly This Is Still Not Over It Has Now Been A Week And I Haven't Got A Single Answer. I Wouldn't Normally Leave Reviews But The Lack Of Professionalism Here Is Unreal.
