Pythagoras Jiu-Jitsu is a great place to train and learn the gentle art of Jiu-Jitsu. It is not the biggest gym in SWFL but Spencer has incredible knowledge of the sport and offers a unique perspective on leg attacks/defense that a lot of other gyms don't emphasize often. The team is very friendly and welcoming and as it's a smaller gym, you'll get more one on one instruction from one of the best blackbelts in the area. The owner Spencer Mumme is a long time veteran of martial arts and displays beautiful jiu jitsu when competing at the highest levels as well as provides an awesome jiu jitsu curriculum. His students are highly skilled and very welcoming. Highly recommend!

His Jiu jitsu is proven to be effective against the highest levels and he’s skilled enough to teach the newest beginners! Posted 2 years agoI started training with Coach Spencer in November of 2021 and in the 3 months since (as I’m writing this it’s 02/09/2022) my understanding of Jiujitsu has totally changed and grown for the better. I had my first competition back in January and thanks to Coach Spencer none of my opponents were able to tap me out and the match stayed live until the clock hit zero. Whether you’re looking for a new hobby; if you wanna feed that competitive drive; if you have a child Jiujitsu is amazing for their confidence, and life learning skills; or simply if you just wanna learn how to be that guy/girl who never has to worry about walking through a dark parking lot ever again, Pythagoras Jiujitsu is the place for you
