My 5 year old just started going to Apex Martial Arts what a difference a few days has made! They care and truly want what's best for my kiddo. Helping guide me through his behavior issues we've been having at school and other previous aftercare programs. Highly recommend it here! They are the only Martial Arts school that picks up from the elementary schools when school let's out. I drive from englewood to port charlotte for my kiddo to do what's best for him. ❤️❤️ thank you Mr. King and his amazing staff!
Apex Martial Arts is an amazing family-owned business that we couldn’t recommend more highly. They excel at teaching martial arts to kids, helping them not only understand the art of self-defense but also instilling the values of respect, discipline, and responsibility that come with learning a skill. What stands out is their ability to cater to each child’s individual progress—ensuring kids are taught and tested at their own pace, so parents can feel confident their child is truly mastering each level.
My daughter absolutely loves coming here and has grown so much since starting. She has developed a close bond with the instructors, who are not only skilled but also incredibly supportive and encouraging. They have helped her build confidence, grace, and strength, both physically and mentally. Watching her grow in skill while maintaining such a positive attitude has been a joy.
Overall, Apex Martial Arts is a fantastic place to send your kids—not just to learn martial arts but to grow as individuals. The instructors create an environment that challenges kids to take accountability for their effort and progress while building their skills and confidence. It’s a place where hard work is encouraged and rewarded, setting kids up for success both in and out of the dojo. Highly recommend!

We have utilized Apex Martial since 2014 for after care and their summer program. Our boys love it. The summer program is amazing and they take the kids somewhere everyday in addition to their taekwondo training.
Love this place my son was having behavior issues at school within a few weeks of taking these classes his behavior improved dramatically 10/10 definitely recommend
I enrolled my 2 boys for summer camp and they immediately picked up the taekwondo and also showed improved discipline and respect. I love how they operate here. I would highly recommend for any high energy kids. Mine love going there.
Apex is a great place for your kids to go. Signed my daughter up a few months ago and she absolutely loves it. She was shy, quiet, and has lots of anxiety. Mr. King, Tyler, and Megan have had a big impact on her and I couldn’t be more grateful for that. Not only does Mr. King care about each & every child, he makes it a point to talk to the parents as well. He’s had a huge impact on my life in the short amount of time that I’ve know him. I really appreciate everything he does. I HIGHLY recommend signing your kids up!
I absolutely love apex martial arts. Not only do they go above and beyond for the kids but they truly work with them and make sure they are ready for the next belt. Ever since I signed my kids up, they not only learn self defense but they learn responsibilities, respect ,discipline and so much more. I'm forever grateful for them and looking g forward to grow with them.
I've been at this place for about 7-8 years now, and this is one of the best places to go. They, show you a ton of different kicks and punches, they treat you very well and trying to find a way for you to feel comfortable too. Then, they have a After School Program where you can do training, and go on field trips too, and if you really want a black belt you have to put in the time and effort to get one. So, If I were you I would recommend Apex Martial Arts Academy!

Our kid has been attending here for multiple years now and she loves it everytime. We usually check with her at the beginning of the year just to make sure she is still willing to attend and she is always ecstatic. Mr. King and his staff are extremely professional and genuinely care about the kids and their progress. There are many dojos and academy in the area but this one tops the rest. Discipline is established early on and the reasons for it are explained and taught to the students as well. Cannot toot their horn enough!
best martial arts place! everyone is friendly and treats the kids with respect when respect is given. such a great place to teach your kids self defense and respect and also how to be humble.
My grandson has been attending for 3 years. It has helped him tremendously with discipline. The summer camp they keep them active. Very diverse field trips every week. Highly recommend!
2 years ago, i went here. I was a student for 7 years. Mr.King, Tyler, and Maddie were awesome. They would try their best to make the space comfortable for both them and the students. Mr.King helped me get through some challenges in my Martial Arts skills. Apex Martial Arts has a great after school and summer camp program. I would go every year. Sadly i had to move to Tennessee. Once in a while i will get a memory of summer camp and class and it would make my day. I am 12 now meaning i started when i was 5. I have come a long way. It is not easy to move on to the next belt. At some academies you do one kick or punch and you get a belt. But here, We are to try hard and work for our belts. That's what makes your effort and time put worth in this Martial Arts Academy!
We love Apex! This will be my son's 3rd year in the Summer Camp program. Mr. King, Maddie and their staff are amazing. This program has taught my son so much with patience. Mr. King helped him so much with his discipline and self esteem. He is definitely not the same kid he was when he first started the program. Unfortunately we will be moving and he will not be in camp next year, but hopefully he will take the skills he learned in this program with him. Thank you everyone at Apex ❤️..
Both of my boys have been going to Apex for over a year. They attend the after school program and summer, spring, and winter camps that are offered. My boys enjoy the Martial Arts program and have learned so much in a year! The King family is sweet, caring, and show genuine love and concern for each child that participated in their program. If you are looking for a an after school program that goes above and beyond I Would highly recommend Apex!
The owners are the kindest people and that means a lot to me when choosing a business that will be teaching my child, looking after my child and caring for him. I trust them 100% that they will take care of my 6 year old during summer camp and I have zero concerns about his safety. He is learning so much about martial arts and is LOVING it. The place is very clean and and again, I can tell they focus on the kids. The first day I picked him up, they knew his name. He’s not just “one of the kids that go there”. They actually took the time to get to know him. They update me daily on his achievements. And they helped me out and helped make it possible for him to attend camp. As a single mom, laid off from covid, the struggle is real, and they went out of their way to make it so that my son could attend for the summer. I will continue to recommend this place to friends and family. I am beyond satisfied with Apex and greatly appreciate the effort they make each day to ensure the safety and well-being and advancement for my son. We will continue taekwondo after summer camp. Go see for yourself and you will see what I am talking about right away.
I cannot say enough about Mr. King & the staff at Top Dog! After only 4 weeks in the program, I am receiving emails from school regarding the noticeable behavioral changes being seen in my 12 year old! The positive influence, family atmosphere, and self-discipline skills are just a few reasons to consider Apex for your child!
We love Apex! My son is so happy coming here after school and has learned so much, he is young and I was hesitant to let him try out Martial arts, but I definitely picked the right place for him. Melissa was attentive from the very get go. Mr. King is the best and you can tell he’s been doing this a long time!
This may be a business but it feels like family. Ms. Madison answered all my emails immediately and was very informative. Upon my first visit I was able to see all the kids partaking and enjoying their class. Mr. King was very informative and patiently answered all my questions. I cannot say enough great things about Top Dog Martial Arts! My son has been attending for about 3 years for after school care and summer camp. It has made a huge improvement in behavior and academically. He loves the activities and I love that not only are they provided after school care but also exercise and a sport for my child. Miss Maddy is always smiling and pleasant when we walk through the door and Mr. King always makes sure you are aware of your child's progress...After all this time, we really feel like family!
I can't say enough amazing things about this program! I put my 5 year old daughter in the summer camp this past summer, not only did I get great child care but my daughter came out disciplined and proud of HERSELF for all of her acheivements that she worked hard for. From the moment my daughter and I stepped foot in the building they helpped me instill respect and confidence in my child.
As a single mom, its hard to always be the disciplinary. My daughter was giving me a run for my money, disobeyed and was disrespectful often. Within days of starting camp my daughter was a completely different child. She became more respectful, more disciplined and more proud of herself. She is so excited to show off her new skills she learns and lights up to tell me how well shes doing and when she earns a new strip on her belt. She has also become more excited about school and other sports. She begged me to keep her in the after school program at Top Dog!
I couldnt be more thankful for Ms.Maddie, Mr.King, Ms.Morgan and all of the other great positive influences within this program.

Provides great supplemental discipline to my parenting, yet keeps my kids entertained and in great physical shape. This is a family run after school and summer/school break camp that also teaches taekwondo along with all their other fun activities. My kids have both attended for years and I've seen a lot of improvements in their discipline. They pickup after school, teach them an hour of taekwondo, provide homework assistance, and give them a snack. Hours are great for busy working parents. The facility is always clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Best of all I know my kids are always safe with them and that puts my mind at ease! Love you guys!
My Grandson Kaiden (11 yrs old) went to Top Dog camp this summer from Rhode Island and loved it! Ms. Maddy, Mr. King. Mr. Tyler and the whole staff made him feel very comfortable and loved especially coming from another state and not knowing a single soul. The purpose of him attending this camp was to learn to respect others and himself. We feel with the guidance of the Camps staff this was achieved . He loved it so much and made new friends and memories that he can not wait to come back next year!
We were looking for the right combination of discipline and focus with fun. Found it with Mr. King and his staff. We’ve watched our child’s confidence grow through the roof and focus on school work. We absolutely love Top Dog Martial Arts.
My kids have been going here for 2 years and they love it. Mr.king miss maddy mr tyler and of course ms morgan have always been so amazing they have become apart of our extended family.... Dont know where they would be with out the extra structure and discipline they teach them. It is life long lessons that only a special someone can teach and thats what they are special....

Miss Maddie always has a warm welcoming smile and Mr. king is always great at taking the time to inform me on how my son is doing in and out of class! Professional, friendly, respectful are just a few words to describe top dog. My son has only attended summer camp for a few short weeks but I can already see a difference in his mannerism. They always have fun adventures planned and do a great job keeping the kids happy/ busy!!

I am so glad we found this after school program, my son started in the summer camp this year and has learned so much! They are so much more than any other program we've found before. They offer the discipline aspect of working towards their goals through not only skill but behavior as well. He does homework, learns in martial arts class, and he really enjoys being here after school!

I love this family owned and operated business. My son's been there for three years and has grown so much. The kids work hard on learning discipline and self control, while learning self_defense techniques. I would recommend Top Dog to anyone. Love the new location.
