I was in town for a few days and dropped in to train a couple of times. The instructors were incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The gym has a laid-back, friendly vibe that makes it easy to focus, learn, and have fun. The facility was spotless and clearly well cared for. Highly recommend!

I had a great experience on the first day of training. They are currently offering a free first class so I decided to check it out and greatly enjoyed it. Coach Kyle is especially great for beginners — he breaks down each move with clear explanations and makes sure everyone understands the technique before moving on. It’s not rushed or overwhelming, which really helps build confidence. The atmosphere is extremely welcoming. From day one, all the coaches made me feel like part of the team. While practicing with partners, the coaches are constantly walking around, giving feedback, correcting form, and making sure we’re doing everything safely and correctly. Overall, I had a great experience and highly recommend this gym for beginners like myself.

I love PCGA, I started my daughter a couple of months ago, and she always says “they’re so nice” or “oh he was helpful, I get it now” and how she really has fun learning and going. I can tell she has built up more confidence in herself, and I love to see a change in her even in a short period of time. We are sadly moving out of state, and I wish I could take the academy with us 🤍. The environment is awesome and everyone is very friendly, and let me not forget it’s very reasonably priced. Our daughter loves grappling class! The coaches are energetic and engaging; they are patient, especially for the young kids, but you see them with the same energy for all age groups. What a great way for kids to learn protective skills, plus athleticism. Highly recommend this team!

There is no beter therapy for a kid who is shy, and somewhat easy to get bullied. Here the kids learn their limits but the most important thing, is that they discover what are they capable for, i a very safe and supervised environment. Came here just to give my boy some after school activity. Ended up with much more.

So I’ve been going to PCGA for close to 8 months now, this gym is perfect for beginners or meeting people from all walks of life. This gym has a very good schedule with amazing instructors. I would really recommend this gym for those planning on trying jiujitsu.

Beyond the facilities, the gym is home to incredibly skilled and professional coaches – John Toth, Sam, and Glen... I guarantee that whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned competitor, you’ll have an outstanding experience. Additionally, two another dedicated gym owner, Emily and Kyle, help run the gym and ensure that the entire facility is spotless. They take care of daily cleaning and disinfecting, which is one of the most important factors for any jiu-jitsu gym. PCGA – check it out, guys!

If you are looking for high-level grappling in an excellent facility in southeast Michigan, this is the place for you. The people are very friendly and skilled. The place also has two showers, which is killer, as well as fitness area.

PCGA is really the only gym I've been to where there are world class instructors who are able to work with you 1:1 and encourage you all the time. There is a thirst for learning here, with all the amenities you could want. If you are a serious first timer or a seasoned practitioner, this gym is worth driving to.

This is a fantastic dojo to come train. Great instruction and fellow students were very welcoming. I love the caliber and variety of folks that regularly come in and got to work with. The dojo itself is beautiful and has very nice well maintained amenities. It's an awesome spot for female grapplers to train. All the students, no matter the gender, were enthusiastic and respectful partners. There is always someone to drill or roll with. Highly recommend this place!

I stopped by for an open mat session, and I was truly impressed! The facility is fantastic, with an expansive mat area and plenty of training partners. Rolling with the skilled Midwesterners was a highlight. The atmosphere was incredibly supportive; everyone was both technical and welcoming. There were no egos in my rolls whether I was getting the better of my partner, or steamrolled through, so it felt like a safe place to roll. I met a few of the instructors and they were super cool to chat with and roll with. I hope to catch a technique class before I head out, but I’ll definitely make this my go-to spot whenever I return to Michigan.

PCGA is the best. High level instruction and training from knowledgeable, humble, and enthusiastic teachers. It's an awesome place for beginner white belts at any age to progress quickly, learn, and have fun. Also there's lots of high level grapplers in there for great rolls and advanced techniques. There's no ego from anyone there, and whether you want to compete at a high level or casually train as a beginner, this is a great gym. Very friendly for women grapplers, kids, and adults. I'll come back and train as a guest every time I visit the Detroit area.

Great place! It’s definitely worth mentioning how nice and clean PCGA is! But the best part so far has been how welcoming and supportive of new students everyone is. From the instructors to the other members that you train with… There’s a LOT to be learned when you’re just starting out, and the folks at PCGA definitely help make it less intimidating. JiuJitsu may well be an “individual sport”, but PCGA definitely resonates with a TEAM atmosphere!

Welcoming environment with tons of smiles and no ones a stranger, yet full of savages at every level. Coaching is detailed with tons of knowledge from students that help as well. All about grappling, not just getting a workout in. I walked in knowing absolutely nobody, overweight and barely able to hang, and was treated like any other member. Would recommend this gym to anyone at any experience level, anywhere in metro Detroit.

My son loves coming to Canton Grappling Academy. The owner and his wife are quick to notice when my easily distracted son needs refocusing or extra help. They just pull him off to the side and give him 1 on 1 attention until he understands what he's supposed to be doing. I really appreciate them picking up on his unique needs. Would highly recommend!!

Took my three year old granddaughter to sample a class and signed her up right after. Very family friendly and welcoming. Individual instruction on the fly that did not interfere with instruction of other students. Each child was celebrated for accomplishments. Look forward to her being a consistent presence in class.

This past Saturday myself and some of my coworkers were invited to come train at PCGA. We are law enforcement and made a connection through instagram. We were welcomed immediately. The facility is clean, the room had a great vibe, and all the people we rolled with were great and were excellent training partners. John Toth was a very gracious host and put time into us while we were visiting while he had a room full of students. Will was another member of the academy that spent sometime with us and took good care of the guys during the rolls. If you are out this way and are looking for a gym to train I would highly recommend PCGA and if you are in the area visiting looking for a place to train while in town check them out. Again great facility and energy in the room. Look forward to training with them again in the future. Thank you for the invite!

Visited PCGA for a women's only event that the gym hosted last week. Their space is very clean and a wonderful locker room space with showers and an ice bath. Emily was very welcoming! What a fantastic atmosphere, not to mention the high level of coaching. I dropped by the gym to train, as I was in the area for work related stuff. I do this quite a lot, whenever I travel and I have to tell you these guys were awesome. John, the main coach was super nice and easy going. Had a lot of fun and felt very welcomed. I would strongly recommend this gym if you are looking for a home base. Cheers and hope to come by again!

John Toth is an incredible instructor, spent many years in his classes from white belt up until now. Doesn’t matter if you drilled the move or sequence thousands of times, he will find an area you need to focus on more to become flawless in your technique.

This is the best BJJ gym in the area! It’s well-kept and clean with all the amenities you could ever need in a gym (full gym, sauna, cold-plunge). The gym area is well-equipped with cardio machines, free weights, and mobility equipment. The teachers are knowledgeable and meet each students individual needs, but will also push the pace and challenge you. The members at this gym are always willing to guide in anyway they can and will introduce themselves to make you feel welcome. This is a great space for all levels of BJJ, whether you’re just starting out or an experienced grappler. Highly recommend!

Fantastic facilities and excellent instruction. PCGA offers a wide variety of class times as well as a very strong children's program. This gym should be a consideration for anyone interested or involved in BJJ!

We love being apart of the PCGA! Everyone is always so welcoming and nice. The place is clean and they offer some cool amenities like cold plunge and red light therapy sauna. Highly recommend!

John Toth is a world class instructor. It does not matter if you’re a beginner, expert or hobbyist. His classes are extremely detailed and designed for all levels. His students are a reflection of his style and super helpful as well. Very friendly environment and highly recommended!

I have nothing but good things to say about PCGA. My 3 year old loves it and looks forward to going every day we can. The trainers are great with the kids - getting down to their level and what feels like individualized training in a group of 10+ kids. We were looking for an extracurricular to help with socialization and developing a skill set and we’ve definitely found it here.

This place has amazing instructors and an even better learning environment. One of the few places I’ve trained at where all skill levels are properly trained. Seriously, if you are even close to the area do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Great team of people to learn from, train with and just be around. Everything you could want from a jujitsu gym and more. I couldn’t imagine a better place to be whether you’re just starting out like me. Or someone who has been doing it for years. Would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone.

Knowledgeable place but not for adult beginners. I could tell people were doing what they could to help but they also wanted to learn themselves. I was mogged by all the high level grapplers before even walking into the building. Emily was very nice but only for getting me signed up. John was an idiot and avoided me like the plague. Said he’d set me up with a couple knowledgeable guys but threw me out there on my own once class started. Overall, you need experience to make it in this place. People will avoid you if you’re new so you have to be cool with annoying people. This overall killed my desire to learn how to grapple. Great if you’re a beginner kid but terrible if you’re a beginner adult. Was also told by another school that this place deletes negative reviews
