I've been lucky to train at martial arts schools all over the world. It's incredibly difficult to find a place that is both friendly AND teaches a high-level of skill. Some gyms might be highly competitive but have a toxic environment. Other places can be warm and welcoming, but if you are going to invest years of your life you want to ensure you're getting the best instruction. Performance Martial Arts is the only gym I've trained at that manages to do both. They've produced multiple high level competitors, but are also a great place for beginners, young, old, families, etc. It's an incredibly supportive place that will help you achieve what you want. There's a reason they have more black belts than anywhere else around.

My 9 year old daughter has been coming here for about 2 months now and let me just say we are thrilled! The way classes are designed for the kids keeps them engaged! They keep it fun for the kids while building them skills to build on for the next class. Price a month isn’t terrible at all to me for the amount of black belts and coaches you have helping out in the classes. Lots of knowledge and skill is held at this gym 💯

Performance martial arts has been the foundation of my everyday wellbeing. Whether you’re an up coming mixed martial artist who’s looking for training under world class coaching, or a 9-5 mom or dad looking to get a good workout in with some great teammates and friends, I invite you to join us. This isn’t just a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA gym, it’s a place where mental toughness is forged through hard work and discipline, where confidence is bred and positive life lessons are taught when you’re not looking for them. Professor Ben Baxter has been a coach turned great friend and mentor who pushed me to limits I didn’t know I had myself, all while keeping a fun and competitive atmosphere while training. If you’re looking to become a savage on the mats and get into shape, learn how to effectively defend yourself in real life scenarios and make some great friends along the way this is the place for you!

come train here! you'll get high level technical instruction in a great gym culture that will challenge you as much as you want, while also valuing care and consideration for your partner. its the most fun you can have learning to outwit your partner with cool physical skills. I just moved here 2 years ago, and now i miss it so much, AND my gym buddies, when I am away traveling! note the number of high level colored belts that continue to train here, and the welcoming friendly environment for brand newbies. you will really find the best top notch people here. **check out our free beginners women's classes alternating Saturdays!

I’ve been taking three of my kids twice a week for several months and have enjoyed it immensely. Ben is an awesome instructor for all ages. My kids have grown in confidence and stamina. We’ve also gotten several friends to join in on the homeschool class during the day.

Dropped in for open mat while visiting from out of town, very skilled and welcoming group! I would definitely check them out if you are in the area and looking to train.

My son has gone to Performance Martial Arts Academy for almost a year and it has been a great experience. Both the trainers and fellow students are excellent. The kids work hard, and the instructors have patience but they also reinforce discipline. If you are looking for a Brazilian jiu-jitsu gym for your son or daughter, this is the place.

I was already a blackbelt in BJJ when I moved to Eugene to attend grad school at the U of O. I cannot express how much I enjoyed training with the people at Performance. Top notch instruction and tons of higher belts to train with. That said, the vibe was super welcoming and fun. If you are a serious BJJ competitor, there are routinely 10+ brown and black belts on the mats for rolls. If you are a beginner looking to try something new, Performance has a great beginner curriculum that is obviously well thought-out. If you are a parent, the coaching staff here emphasize personal growth as much as martial skill, and your kids are safe there (you should always google potential schools as some have poor track records or coaches with shady histories). I honestly think this is one of the best BJJ schools in the US. I have since moved away from the area. If you are interested in BJJ, check out this school, you won't be disappointed.

PMA is a great place to train. The entire academy staff is super helpful and patient in their teaching methods. Regardless of your training goals PMA is definitely the place to go.

I was from out of town visiting and wanted to visit a strict bjj academy with advanced levels. This academy is perfect in every way. Facility’s, training participants and coaches are all high level. I strongly recommend this if you are a bjj player looking to train.

6 months ago I was looking for a way to get back in shape, and have fun doing it, so I made the decision to try out one of the free classes that Performance Martial Arts offers. I sent an email to the gym asking about it, and they promptly replied, encouraging me to come in and see what it was all about. I'm so glad that I did! Professors Ben Baxter, Ryan Cunningham, and Devin Roan are all very knowledgable and professional instructors. All of the people at the gym are incredibly friendly, and I felt at home very quickly. On top of offering both Gi and No Gi Jiu Jitsu, they offer striking classes, classes for children as young as 4, and there is even a women's only class on Saturdays. They offer some trial classes so you can come try it before you buy it, so to speak, and they even keep clean loaner Gis (uniforms) ready for people who want to try it out. If you're interested at all in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, grappling in general, getting in shape, or just looking for a new hobby, I highly encourage you to come check the gym out!

I train Jiu Jitsu here and also take striking classes. This is a great place to learn martial arts. The instructors have really detailed knowledge of Jiu Jitsu and also know how to run a fun class that's safe and educational. Highly recommended!

Beware, this gym has absolute monsters on the mat! Their instructors are fantastic, and they are no egos, ever. I’m in Eugene regularly and always bring my Gi just in case I can make a mat time. Come in, learn, roll hard, and leave with knowledge and a smile!

Ben Baxter & Ryan Cunningham are Great, the best. Do a search on either of them and you will find out quickly that they are competitively the best at their game and that is important. Possible more important is their students performance/competence/attitudes. I have experienced across the board support from all of their students in starting Jujitsu in my very late 30's. I was intimidated at first by all of the superior students and then I learned that they all wanted to teach me what they have learned. I wish there was a 6th star for places like Performance.
