Coach Styles has really helped on my weight loss, nutrition, strength and conditioning. Also cardio and flexibility. His knowledge of Martial Arts from Brizilian jujitsu, muay Thai and boxing is at a very high level. I highly recommend him for any kind of martial arts or personal training. He's very dependable and trustworthy which is hard to find these days!!

What a fantastic experience! We took a private/group class with Styles at Modern Samurai Academy! He took us through amazing techniques for self-defense, awareness, and strength! Something everyone should take advantage of! But I tell you this group of women now have techniques to make a difference in their lives! (and the lives of others 😉)Thanks Styles! Highly recommend this class to everyone!

After my foot surgery, Michael Larson came to my house to work with me, and I couldn't be more grateful! We focused on meditation, stretching, and lightweight training, which helped me not only recover physically but also feel more balanced and at peace. Michael's deep knowledge of nutrition and diet was incredible—he gave me so many helpful tips to support my recovery and overall health. On top of that, he was such a joy to work with! His positive energy and encouragement made every session something I truly looked forward to. I’ll definitely be having him come back and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and supportive trainer. Thank you, Michael, for making such a positive impact on my recovery journey!

I've had problems with balance ever since I was diagnosed with vertigo after an accident. Michael Larson helped me understand the type of exercises I need to do to get back to a normal life.

I had a fantastic private lesson with Styles, whose depth of knowledge and humble approach make him an outstanding instructor. He gave great attention to detail, focusing on specific challenges I’ve encountered while rolling and offered strategies and techniques that I’m confident will benefit me in future rolls. His kindness and generosity of spirit makes for a very positive learning environment. I’m looking forward to getting back up to Eugene to train with him again.

My daughter and I attended a Women’s Self Defense session. Styles demonstrated and shared the rationale for why certain moves are better to use in a defense capacity than others. Practice was a key feature and I came away with some very useful skills. I’m ready for a refresher course so I can keep practicing the skills!

Styles is an incredible instructor and Modern Samurai is the place to go for all around body movement! Never having done Jui Jitsu myself, Styles ensured to not only make sure to approach each technique with safety, but also explain each technique on a beginner level. A fun, safe, and encouraging environment, I highly recommend for anyone!

Styles is an exceptional jiu jitsu practitioner and instructor. He has provided me an array of knowledge on martial arts, timing, body movements, meditation, etc. Modern Samurai Academy will help you physically, but more importantly, it will help shape you mentally. If you're looking for a Growth Mindset, Styles is your man. Plus, he's given me some great insights on gi chokes.
