If you’re looking for a premier mma/Muay Thai/Bjj gym in Eugene, Art of War is your place. I have been training here for a couple of years now and couldn’t ask for a better coaching staff with knowledge and experience. Whether your goal is to step into the ring/cage or just get into great shape and learn something new I would highly recommend giving it a shot! Coach Jason not only offers combat sports training but also fitness classes that rival anything you can receive at a commercial gym.

I have had the pleasure of being apart of this gym for about a year and a half. I had no previous experience in MMA before starting at Art of War. Jason eased me in by doing boxing privates with me. Which I learned a ton from and would recommend if you’re a first timer. Once I felt comfortable, I tried almost every class they had available. All of the teachers do a great job at coaching beginner to advanced skills while keeping the environment safe. I personally love Rob’s Muay Thai class on Wednesday mornings. Rob is a fantastic coach. He takes the time to answer questions and break things down for you. It is not an easy class. He will challenge you and you will grow. It’s a great feeling! I’m sad to be moving away and will definitely miss this gym/the people. I highly recommend Art of War!

I came to Art of War about one year ago with zero martial arts experience and started taking the Muay Thai classes twice a week. The classes have people of all levels and the instructors are fantastic. If you’re looking for a place to train, I highly recommend Art of War. I wish I had started years ago.

I had a really disappointing experience with this gym. At one point, Jason cornered me for a fight because my other coach didn’t show up, which was cool. Later, when I tried to officially join, I was told by Jason I wasn’t allowed to train there. The reason given was that I previously trained at Checkered Past MMA. What doesn’t make sense is that my friends from the same gym were accepted without any issue, but I was singled out and denied. If there’s a policy about past affiliations, it should be applied consistently to everyone. The whole situation felt inconsistent and unprofessional. If you’re going to deny someone membership, at least be clear and fair about it. Unfortunately, this left a bad impression.

Been an athlete since I was a teenager and have never experienced the level of coaching community and commitment to get better than I have at art of war! Best gym around best coach’s around and if you are interested in martial arts whether it’s fighting or it’s just as a hobby to get in shape and have a community art of war is the place to go!
