Mi nieto asiste a clases de artes marciales en esa escuela y la manera de como se enseña es maravillosa, divertida y muy pedagógica. Mi familia está muy satisfechande haber escogido ese lugar
This has been an amazing place to learn Judo. Even in line with all my other martial arts experiences, this is top tier in terms of quality, attention to detail and sheer fun of learning martial arts.
After completing our free trial week, we were so impressed with Alan Best and his ability to be fun for young kids while still maintaining discipline and providing clear instruction. Our son says he is going to do this for the rest of his life. He feels so proud to attend, and we will be signing him up for unlimited weekly classes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I love this place, the instructor is a blast. So good.
Great dojo for kids and adults. My 7 y.o. studies karate and judo under sensei Alan Best. Sensei best has a great balance of patience and high expectations with the kids. I've seen my young one grow in discipline and technical competence under Sensei Best's instruction. My oldest son and I attend the teen/adult Judo class and it's awesome. It's a heck of a workout. The instructors are highly proficient and good at teaching what they know. From teenage girls to old guys like me everyone is treated with respect and a growth mindset. Very kind and supportive culture which is important when you are choking and throwing your classmates.
The best place for martial arts. The nice and knowledgeable instructors are a huge plus. I really cannot say enough about this place and judo. If you are on the fence, definitely try it out for a week.
The best place in Eugene for Martial Arts.
I've practiced martial arts at various schools since 1987 and have been training at Best Martial Arts Institute since 2005. Best Martial Arts offers students the finest instruction available. In addition to outstanding teachers and beautiful training spaces, the dojo's community is solid. Friendly people learning martial arts in a non-competitive environment makes for a wonderful experience. I highly recommend Best Martial Arts Institute if you're interested in karate, tae kwon do, judo, aikido, or Systema. You won't be disappointed!
Great environment for young girls to build strength and confidence.
From our first visit, my 4 year old son was enthralled by the karate teachers at Best Martial Arts. They are fun and playful but still expect the kids to follow the rules. Fun, exercise, and discipline- I couldn't ask for a better combination for my child. And, there are also other types of martial arts that he can explore as he grows older!
I enrolled my son at Best Martial Arts when he was experiencing tremendous bullying in middle school. The Taekwondo/Karate class helped his self esteem and confidence so much. The instructors are great with kids and teens. Sensei Kufner played a huge role in helping my son grow into a confident young man. I would go watch class and decided "why am I just sitting here". So I enrolled with my son. That was about 10 years ago. My son is no longer at the dojo, but I have stuck with it. Being at the dojo is so much more than getting a workout. I have gained a dojo family and I feel that I am trying to live the principles Shihan Best teaches and embodies. It's made me a better person. After watching the Aikido class for quite a while, I decided to try it. And I love it. If you want a sense of community and to be with some amazing people, then Best Martial Arts is the place for you! Hope you come out and give it a try. It's so much fun. Debbie
My youngest son just started a month ago, but he's already benefited so much from the karate classes. Sensei Best is such a fantastic instructor and he is so good with the kids (and adults, too). He keeps them very engaged and they're always having so much fun while learning a ton. He's a great motivator and I'm so glad that we started going here. The other instructors are really fantastic, too. Everything about this school is great. Don't hesitate to join or to enroll your loved ones.
I think it's a great place to train judo with very knowledgeable instructors.
I trained at Best Martial Arts Institute for about 8 1/2 years before moving from the Eugene area. Of all the things I miss by moving away Sensei Best, the other instructors and the students are what I miss the most. Sensei Best has the belief that members of the Dojo are a family and when you go there you really start to become part of the Dojo family. Sensei Best is indeed a highly qualified martial artist who has developed an Institute for the study of martial arts not just a martial arts school. This is not a school where you go a couple of years and walk away with a black belt. This is a family friendly school dedicated to the study of martial arts. I highly recommend BMAI to anyone seriously interested in martial arts training and especially to familes.
Alan Best has had a tremendous amount of experience. He works not only as an instructor, but as a mentor. I have watched the affect he has on personal growth with his students, and it is an intangible skill which stars cannot account for.
Training with Sensei Best was one of the defining activities of my years as elementary-to-high school student. I trained in the main program of Karate/Taekwondo for 8 years. Out of everything I had to leave behind once I left for college, "The Dojo" is by far the thing I've missed the most. Sensei Best and his fellow instructors have created a truly wonderful place to learn and train. You will be hard pressed to find a better community of people who will listen, teach you discipline, teach you how to use and train your body, and teach you the wisdom of when and when not to use force. Their teaching has served as an example for me throughout my own career as an educator.
I have known Alan Best Sensei, the chief instructor of Best Martial Arts Institute, for quite a few years. He is a remarkably talented martial artist and instructor. He is intelligent, patient and has a wonderful sense of humor. He genuine likes people and teaching. Indeed, his teaching reflects that he loves what he is doing and his students' skills reflect this fact. His programs provide all -- children, men and women -- with an environment where they will be safe, learn discipline, self-defense, self-control and have fun. Lots and lots of fun with a great workout. I give Best Martial Arts Institute the highest recommendation possible. If you want quality martial arts training in Eugene, go to Best Martial Arts Institute.
