I spent almost two years training at Pangea during my time in Denver and I can’t rate it high enough. If you’re new to Bjj or just looking for a change in atmosphere this is the place to train. Izzy the head coach is such a nice guy and genuinely wants to see you elevate your game. Even when I told him I was moving for work, the first thing he did was give me recommendations on places to train at in my new city which meant a lot to me. Everyone here is very respectful and is happy to meet you at your level during training no matter your age or skill level. If you want fun relaxed classes with hard rolls check out Pangea.
Posted 1 year agoStarting training at Pangea has been a transformative experience for my family and myself. Over the past six months, my three sons and I have been training at Pangea and we couldn't be more satisfied with our decision to switch from another local gym. I wish I had found Pangea sooner in my BJJ journey. One of the standout features of Pangea is its intimate class sizes, which ensure a low instructor-to-student ratio. This structure guarantees personalized attention, allowing you to progress rapidly in your BJJ journey. It's commonplace to have multiple black and brown belt instructors present during training and open mats, offering invaluable advice and fostering a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Head instructor Izzy, along with his team, exude a passion for Jiu-Jitsu that is both inspiring and contagious. Their genuine care for each student's success, regardless of skill level, sets Pangea apart from larger impersonal franchise gyms. Izzy's open-door policy encourages cross-training and welcomes practitioners from other academies, a rarity in the BJJ community. This inclusive approach eliminates any semblance of a cult mentality, promoting a refreshing and open-minded training environment for everyone. My sons have thrived in Pangea's kids' classes, achieving more in six months than they would have at our previous gym. The instructors tailor their teaching methods to support each child's goals, whether they're aiming for competition success, skill development, or simply seeking a fun new way to improve themselves and make friends. The Pangea community is a composed of individuals from diverse backgrounds, all unified by a shared passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This diversity enriches the training experience and reflects Izzy's commitment to fostering not just a top-tier martial arts school, but a community built on inclusion and excellence. I would highly recommend anyone considering starting their BJJ journey or looking to change gyms to check out Pangea. I attended more than 5 other gyms before choosing Pangea as my home. They are a growing presence in the BJJ community with an intangible quality that you can feel. There is something special about Pangea.
I absolutely love this Jiu Jitsu studio for my 10 year old son. It feels like a family and all the instructors, especially Ismael, love and treat the young students with a lot of personal attention, guidance, direction, structure, and mastery. The price is right and I really experience a high-quality professionalism. Would recommend to anyone.
My 10 year old son started the kids class at Pangea about a month and a half ago. Not only is he having fun and making friends, his confidence and self esteem has sky rocketed all while learning the art of jiu jitsu. I love watching Coach Iz and his team teach. Their passion for jiu jitsu is contagious and their knowledge and experience is priceless. They are always there giving 100% to motivate and guide their students in a safe, controlled environment. This close community welcomes anyone from all walks of life and everyone is treated with with dignity and respect. The other adults that train are always willing to help each other and the kiddos when needed. This gym has it all. Pangea is now one of my favorite places to go either for class or open mat to watch my son train. Come check it out!
Our 5 year old attended Pangea Jiu Jitsu and we absolutely LOVED it!! The owners are such wonderful people and the kids program is the best in the area. We toured a few other gyms and the price for value was definitely the best at Pangea. Our son learned so much in the 5 months that he attended. The coolest part is that the owners are also the coaches! We highly recommend this gym!
Great program to get your kid’s feet wet with the basics of jujitsu. Not only are they learning to use their own strength but also to respect this environment and their partner with the ultimate goal to have fun. Would recommend %100.
From someone coming from big well known reputable schools to here it’s a big difference in terms of environment and how they treat you. Coach Ismael treats you like a student and is constantly trying to help you get better and push you up. The other gyms I come from I won’t name any names but they treat you like a dollar sign as opposed to a student. Here at Pangea you are a student and if you’re trying to compete this is the school to come train at not only will you be pushed but you will excel here!!!
Highly recommend!! Such an amazing space for all ages and experience levels to train and learn new techniques. I was able to take a women’s self defense class and learned so many incredible skills to feel safe no matter the situation. The community of people and instructors at Pangea have so much knowledge and are truly some of the best people around. This is the place to go in the Arvada/Denver area, don’t miss out!
Amazing instruction, very welcoming to newcomers and beginners. Super friendly but also serious about training. Would recommend to anyone whether you’ve been training 10 years or never trained before.
Great bjj classes for kids! Coaches are great and very patient. Def recommend!
This is the place to train! Fantastic atmosphere, nurturing for those new to grappling, yet plenty of tough rolls to be had. The instruction is top notch. Classes are focused on improvement and skill building while still maintaining an environment that makes training fun and enjoyable. Class sizes are small, which is pivotal in getting individualized attention. Roll through if you are in the Arvada/Denver area!
I love Pangea Jiu Jitsu! I've been training for a long time and trained at 7 other schools over the course of my journey. I'm so grateful to have Professor Iz to teach us jiujitsu, as well as Coach Esmelyn. They are amazing instructors. I love the cozy, family-oriented vibe of this tight-knit community. If you are looking for a great place to exercise and learn martial arts, this school is for you! I especially love the evening classes and the weekend open mats. We always have a fun time and I always leave feeling like I learned something and had a great workout.
Amazing atmosphere, culture, and skill at Pangea. This is one of the most welcoming schools I’ve ever been to. It’s one thing to have experience and knowledge; it’s another to be able to teach that in a way that makes sense. Professors Izzy, Esmelin, and Kevin each possess a varied skill set backed by tons of experience. This is a great gym for all skill levels, from day one white belts to professors and everything in between. I’ve gained a ton from training at Pangea and truly believe there’s something for everyone here. I can’t recommend this school enough
I’ve been training at Pangea for over a year now. I never trained BJJ before Pangea, but I felt very comfortable and welcomed being there. The instructors are very knowledgeable and passionate about Jiu-Jitsu and care about everyone’s development, regardless of experience level. If you’re looking for a good gym with great training partners, Pangea is the place for you!
Great environment and jiu jitsu. Professor Iz is welcoming, knowledgeable and truly created an academy for everyone. No corporate jiu jitsu or tough guy attitudes.
This is an amazing, welcoming space. It's a community as much as a school. The owner is warm and welcoming and all of the students follow his lead. I have been cross-training at Pangea to improve my judo, and they have been open and willing to work with me on my goals. The open mats are fun, and the space is super clean and well maintained. I will be making Pangea my go to cross-training spot.
Pangea is awesome! Coach Iz and the rest of the instructors are great teachers. I was welcomed in as a new white belt and never made to feel inferior. I love being able to drill and roll with upper belts! Everyone is always happy to share pointers. There’s no ego here; everyone wants to help each other get better.
Instructors here are knowledgeable, friendly, and well connected. the people training here before me have been nothing but welcoming and supportive of both my jiu-jitsu goals and my fitness goals. Can’t recommend this school enough whether you’re just learning BJJ or you’re thinking about competing, there’s something for everyone here. Much love to coach Iz and the team.
I’ve trained at a few different gyms in my BJJ journey, but Pangea is by far the best. Not only is there high quality teaching and rolling, it is an inclusive environment. They are flexible with your schedule and it is the perfect size gym to focus on your individual BJJ game. They have multiple world class professors and a range of belts within their student base. I could not recommend this gym enough!!
What a place to come and feel like you're learning and making friends on the mats. It's clean, the curriculum is great, the people are sweet and determined and the vibe is always a good one!
My two boys absolutely love doing Jiu Jitsu with Coach Ismael! They love the other kiddos and have such a fun time especially when Coach’s son is there to train and learn with them as well. They have truly learned some amazing skills and have already gained more self confidence than before! I couldn’t ask for a better first sport for them and Coach Ismael is great with his patience and teaching the classes. Such a blessing for our family, highly recommend to anyone looking for their kids to grow and learn or for themselves!
We visited 4 other established Denver based schools before finding Pangea and the difference is substantial. At any given class, or open mat, you have access to a deep well of Jiu-Jitsu knowledge and experience from professors and coaches with different styles and techniques. The atmosphere is amazing and incredibly supportive and encouraging. White belts to black belts, the crew here is the best! Zero ego, attitude, or intimidation. Plus, cross training with other schools is encouraged and welcome! If you're looking for a safe place for your family to start something new, or continue your Jiu-Jitsu journey, there is not a school that I would recommend more than Pangea.
Started my son here in FEB and he has truly loved this place! It’s changed his behavior at home, we get to come as many times as we want during the month and the instructors are amazing with children! It’s consistent and effective! My son loves it here!
Love it, not only is the jiujitsu on point and it's on point always a strong room of students, coaches and professors, the atmosphere is so amazing anytime I need to be uplifted out of depression, or I get inside my head the owner and professor Ismael boost me up to the stars, and the fact he doesn't know I was depressed or dealing with anything prior to going great human being and the other students and coaches I'm telling you it's a party of them making you feel like you are number 1 in jiu jitsu and life. Sometime over whelming, but i love it Pangea truly is a place you feel empowered and loved.
Our kids love this program. They’re learning a ton and they look forward to going each class. Coach Iz is awesome with them and teaches life skills far beyond a typical training program. Super convenient that I can attend CrossFit at Arsenal Fitness (same facility) at the same time as my kids go to jiu jitsu! Highly recommend Pangea to families with kids looking for a great program and coach!
My children (8 & 11) love this program. It is building confidence and respect. The instructions are kind and skilled at cultivating a sense of community while teaching them Jiu Jitsu.
My 7-year-old daughter has LOVED training with Coach Iz at Pangea Jiu Jitsu for the last 4 months. Coach offered for her to take a couple classes for free to see if she liked it before we committed--which we really appreciated. Coach focuses on the things we care about: being kind, being a good training partner, having fun, being safe, and working hard. He offers multiple classes a week and is exceptionally gifted in working with kids. She is flourishing in his classes and we can't recommend Pangea enough to other families.
Our good friend referred us to Pangea Jim Jitsu classes. I couldnt be happier with my husband with this decision. We come here as a family. Our son Matteo loves going to his classes, he truly enjoys them and actually learns a lot during a class. Instructor Ismael is very patient and very respectful. I would suggest everyone to visit this school. :)
I’m halfway through my blue belt and I must say I’m thoroughly impressed with Ismael’s instruction and environment. The gym is new but has so much growth potential. The new students coming in are great people and the coaching is really tailored to the students. Plus his pricing is really fair compared to the rest of the market. Cannot recommend enough.
Pangea just opened recently and it is awesome. Came here with a friend and was very impressed. Super clean and inviting. Ismael is an excellent instructor! Excited that he has classes for kids!!
My 9 year old son loves training here it is a great vibe and in the kids program they are learning not only physical skills but respect and listening. Professor Iz loves teaching the kids and helps them regardless of their skill/age/size. It is in a great location with a crossfit gym and recovery facility on the same building so it’s a great way for parents to workout at the same time or utilize recovery resources. Something for the whole family!
