I brought my 6 year old son to Chris Howe on the heals of the lockdown. I needed something for him to do to burn some energy and I thought martial arts might be something we could do together. I was a little hesitant getting in the mat as I didn’t know what to expect. Four years later it has become a part of our life and we look forward to class every week. My son (now ten) is excited to bring his younger brother into the fold and we are all having a blast. Chris and Justin are a wealth of knowledge in the sport and the kids coaches are amazing. Shout out to Jonas, Gidon, and Jeremy! I highly recommend to anyone on the fence to come and give it a try.

Excellent instruction from a masters black belt gi and no gi world champion. Whether you looking for a good community, a different type of workout, solid self-defense, or to be a competitor, Chris provides a perfect environment, with the knowledge of a instructor whose game is competition proven. Would recommend to anyone!

My sons are attending kids jiu jitsu classes and I could not be more impressed with the instruction they receive from Chris and the rest of the instructors. Chris offers a welcoming, safe environment that makes the classes fun while putting an emphasis on properly teaching fundamentals. My kids have learned so much in a short period of time, and they genuinely look forward to attending the classes. Thanks Chris!

If you've ever considered trying BJJ but felt a bit intimidated, this is the place for you. Chris Howe is not only the best coach in Indiana but also one of the most approachable and patient instructors I've come across. From the very first day, I felt welcomed by both the coaches and the students. Everyone here is committed to building a strong, supportive community. For beginners, BJJ can seem overwhelming at first, but Chris and his team do a phenomenal job of breaking down the fundamentals. They take extra time to ensure newbies feel comfortable, giving personalized attention whenever needed. I was worried about keeping up, but Chris's structured approach to teaching made it easy to follow and progress at my own pace. Plus, any questions or fears I had were addressed right away with patience and understanding. Common questions like “Is BJJ too intense for beginners?” or “Do I need to be in great shape to start?” are answered every day on the mats. No matter your fitness level, age, or experience, Chris and the team will help you build the skills and confidence to succeed. The best part? It’s more than just a workout — it’s a family. Joining this gym has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my health and well-being. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to get stronger, learn self-defense, and become part of an amazing community!

Chris is a world class practitioner, nothing else to say on that front. He’s a genuinely good guy, but he won’t baby you as a coach. The biggest strength of the gym is all the teammates who are there because they believe in his philosophy. Everyone wants you to be there, and everyone wants you to get better. It feels uncomfortable sometimes, because it should. That’s when you grow. I’ve been coming for a year and any questions I had at first have all been answered. Come here if you want to get better at jiu jitsu and as a person.

I trained with Justin and Chris for a summer. My entire bjj tenure was 5 years and my favorite period of time was with Howe BJJ. The culture and technique was awesome! I highly recommend training here.

Chris and Justin are great instructors. The upper belts, especially Duane and Ernie, helped me learn early on. This is a great environment to learn jiu jitsu and everyone is cool. Justin does an incredible job mentoring the kids and teaching them. It's amazing to see the kids excel at jiu jitsu and gain confidence in themselves.

Being relatively new to the area and deciding to start training again at 47 yo made me more than little nervous. That being said, I also had a couple guys from church who kept talking highly of Chris. One Sunday I finally decided to introduce myself. After talking a while, he invited me to his school. I have to say that Chris and Justin are great. They are very respectful and willing to take the time to help you learn and to get better. It doesn’t matter if you are young, old, in shape, or out of shape, if you are looking for a place to train, this is the place.

My son has been training at Chris Howe BJJ for a few years now. It is a top notch program that has helped build my sons confidence and made him a fierce yet humble competitor. My son, Jack teaches the youth program with Justin Wilson. I can’t recommend it enough! I have known and trained with Justin in women’s boot camp classes for many years and can vouche that he is an exceptional guy and we are blessed to have him and the CHBJJ team as mentors to our son. Also worth mentioning...an unbalanced exgirlfriend posting slanderous 1 star reviews under bogus accounts needs to log off and get a life!

My son started day 1 of the kids class almost 3 years ago and it’s been a terrific experience. Justin is a terrific instructor with great patience working with kids of all different personalities. There’s always multiple upper belts helping out and it’s amazing how good they get so quick. Training here gave him the confidence to go out for middle school wrestling and start at his weight class in his first year which never would have happened without Justin and his really good training partners It’s been great for me too. I’ve been a student of Chris since we moved here and it’s something my son and I can do together and allows me get in more for my favorite hobby than I could otherwise! I don’t know the motivation behind the recent posts, but there’s not an ounce of truth to them. I say that confidently because our son never misses class, we always stay to watch what at this point amounts to 100s of classes, and there’s 20+ kids in each class whose parents stay to watch too (it’s fun to watch and everybody gets to know each other quick) So no way no how and i'd hate for another kid who could have a similar experience to ours to miss out

My son really enjoys the class and the instructors, he’s learned a lot in the past two years and has done very well at competition. As a mom, I am very proud of my sons progress and we hope to continue learning.

I have been taking classes from Chris and Justin for several years now. Chris and Justin are extremely successful Jiu Jitsu practicioners, I am impressed by the quality of the instruction, as well as their professionalism. They, and my fellow students, are some of the best people I know and I could not imagine practicing anywhere else.

I’ve known Chris for a long time. Since we were lowly blue belts. I’m not gonna mention his accomplishments ON the mat as they speak for themselves. He is a stand up guy as is anyone who he leaves to instruct his classes. Nothing but positive things to say about him and Justin. Don’t let the fake reviews of a crazy ex sway you from stopping in and trying out the classes. Nothing but class and world class jiujitsu with these guys! Trust me.... I’m a black belt! I have been a student of Chris’s for roughly 5 years now and joining this school has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Chris and the other instructors are extremely knowledgeable and easy to learn from. The laid back and friendly environment really makes it easy to get into class and train consistently. If you have thought about getting involved in Jiu-Jitsu I urge you to come in and check out our school for yourself.

I've been a student under Chris Howe for nearly four years. When I started jiujitsu, I was hesitant because I had no real prior self-defense training. Turns out, you don't need it. Chris Howe Brazilian jiu-jitsu is like a second family to me in many ways. The team supported me when my Dad passed away three years ago and the two times I was laid off. As one of the few women in the class, we are treated with the utmost respect and dignity. I often come in and catch the tail end of kid's class as well. Justin is a great instructor for the kid's class and helps teach them valuable life lessons, like how we don't win every single round - on the mats or in life. I left another sport to train at Chris Howe BJJ full-time and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. HIGHLY recommend!

Trained with Chris and Justin for a few years. Great jiu-jitsu and good people. The students here a good people and very welcoming. The kids class is running very well. Infact when I shut down my own martial arts school I encouraged my students to train here. I wouldn't trust anyone else with their training.

Coach Justin is amazing with the kids. The program has helped my son feel more confident in himself when faced with confrontation outside of class.

I had the most Horrible experience with the owner Chris Howe . my Kids took classes earlier this year and we had to stop due to covid . I left him a voicemail asking to cancel our payments and classes . we were not charged till june and then i did not pay any attention to the credit card charges . we had no idea that classes were resuming in july , we got no notification via e mail or call . i recently was shocked that they were still charging us money every month since july for 2 kids . I tried reaching out and Mr howe was so rude and basically told me that i should have given in writing that i wanted to cancel classes and not voice mail . And he said that we signed a contract so we will be charged . He basically told me we will get no money back . he owes us close to 2k and my kids have attended no classes there . he is refusing to refund any money . be very careful

We tried the children’s class with Justin Wilson awhile back. I thought he was rough, harsh, and inappropriate as an instructor. People have a right to post their experiences, that is what reviews are about. Please do not discredit some one just because they are posting an opinion on the instructor they worked with in class. Again, this is an opinion based on my experience with one instructor at this facility.
